    Joe Wheeler State Park, AL

    Last weekend, we ventured up to North Alabama, because Drew was competing in State Cup Soccer. He had a game Friday night and Sunday morning. Since we were going to have all Saturday with no games, we decided to stay about an hour away from the fields at Joe Wheeler State Park in the Lodge. Nice, large rooms with beautiful views of the lake. If you’re looking for a pristine place to stay I would not recommend this place. Although, it was nice and fine for us, someone who is looking for super clean won’t be happy. Since it is…

    Day Trip Amish Country in Ethridge, TN

    Last weekend we were up in Decatur, AL, we made a quick trip up to Ethridge, TN to visit the Amish community that Rob had heard about. We did it on a bit of whim after putting gas in the car, so we did not know exactly where to go. We followed the signs to the Lawrenceburg Visitor Center until had driven all the way through to Ethridge. We ended up seeing this sign, where we turned down a dirt road that dead ended to a quaint house and shop building. As we got close to the house a young…

    Day Trip to Oglethorp University

    Drew had an all day soccer clinic in Atlanta this past Saturday. We decided to make the most out of it and go up as a family. It was on the campus of Oglethorp University, which is a beautiful campus. In between games we got to see a free baseball game there as well.

    Cub Scout Trip 2012::McWane Center {Birmingham}

    This past weekend we went with the cub scouts on a family trip to the McWane Center in Birmingham, Al. Such a fun place! Nearly all hands-on, very informational, just loved the place! If you ever travel to Birmingham, I recommend it. Anyway, so our family decided to get their early, so we’d have plenty of time to see all 4 floors. We were able to get through all the floors in about 5 hours and that was really allowing the boys time to stay at some of the exhibits for awhile, not just skimming over everything. We met as…

    Cub Scout Mountain Trip 2011::Lake Winfield Scott, GA

    For the Cub Scouts Summer Trip, we went to Lake Winfield Scott. It’s about 85 north of Atlanta in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. It was a really great place to camp regardless of age. Hiking trails, swimming, canoeing, fishing, and lots of wild life lurking in the woods. Camp is set up. The boys playing on the ‘beach’ at Lake Winfield Scott. Really cool mushroom.

    It’s just ridiculous that I take so many dang pictures that I can’t get my post up for the trip we took over the 4th, so I decided to break it down into days. Here’s the first day of our trip, which included driving up to Blue Ridge, getting the keys to the cabin, eating dinner, going grocery shopping, and preparation of some of the meals for the weekend. Here‘s where we stopped to let Daisy out and it had a scenic view. Circular brick walk way And here’s the front of our cabin, our home for a few days!…

    Second July 4th Trip 2011::Blue Ridge, GA {Day 3}

    If you missed Day 1 or Day 2. Sunday we started by hiking up to the highest point in Georgia at Brasstown Bald. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and then decided to go find the Swinging Bridge which crosses over the Toccoa River. This was a very cool, very hidden spot. Great place to camp, swim, tube, kayak, etc! For dinner we ate at Papa’s Pizza-to-Go Buffet, which had hot, high quality pizza. Then, we did something we have never done before and that’s go to a drive-in movie. The one we went to was in Blue Ridge and it’s…

    Second July 4th Trip 2011::McCaysville, GA {Day 4}

    If you missed Day 1 or Day 2 or Day 3 Day 4 which happened to be the 4th of July was another great day in the mountains. We started the day by driving over to McCaysville, GA, which is a little town on the Georgia/Tennessee line. It’s bordered by Copperhill, TN. McCaysville is so cute, just a lovely little town with cute shops and eateries. So bummed I didn’t get to try the fried Oreos. They weren’t quite open yet. Next we drove over to the Ocoee Whitewater Center, which is the Slalom site of the 1996 Olympics. On…

    Franklin, TN

    A few weeks ago we went to Franklin, TN, which is about 20 miles south of Nashville. We were there for the last soccer tourney of the season! We stayed in Brentwood, TN (which is about half way in between Nashville and Franklin) at the Hyatt Place. Love, love, love those bed and breakfast places! We got in around 10:30 and hurried to bed for we knew 7 am would come quickly. We got up, enjoyed our Continental Breakfast, and got over to the fields in time for Teenager to warm up and prepare for his game. They pulled out…

    Camping

    Here’s a couple pics from Saturday and Sunday when we went camping. Our weekend started with Alex’s baseball game in Auburn at 9:30 am. We booked it out of there, back home to finish packing for our camping/soccer trip up in Birmingham. We had to have Drew on the field at 1:00. We made it with no issues and even had time to run through a drive-thru. After Drew’s victorious soccer game, we followed the Farrows to Oak Mountain State Park. Praying that they had a place for us tent camp, we were shocked to find out there was only…

    2011::Fort Worth, TX

    Saturday We left Saturday morning at crack-o-dawn to head down to get Drew. Drew was in Orange Beach, AL for a soccer tourney. He had gone down earlier in the week since it was spring break to enjoy some time on the beach before his games began on Saturday. So that was about a 4 hour detour. We stayed for both games. Got to have some Shrimp Po-boys at the Shrimp Basket. We got out of town about 3ish. Spring Break traffic was horrific, so we ended up going a different way. We had planned to drive straight through, but…

    Ton’s Mongolian Grill {DFW area, TX}

    Every time we go to Texas we make a trip over to Grand Prairie, TX where we eat one of our “new” fav Fort Worth eateries; Ton’s Mongolian Grill. Rob introduced me to a restaurant of this sort when we went to Oregon. He used to eat at Chang’s at least once a week when he lived there. A few years ago Rob decided to look for a place like Chang’s in the DFW area and he was so excited to find Ton’s. Ton’s is strictly a Mongolian Grill, where you get your raw meat and veggies. At the Stockyards

    Today we woke up and Rob suggested that we take the morning to get out and do something. He threw a couple options out there and I opted for the Stockyards. It doesn’t matter how many times we go to there, I adore it more every time and it’s one of the most fun places to take pictures! I honestly couldn’t decide which picture to use, but I chose this one, since it features the fam with Dad. You can see more pics of our day here.

    Roadtrip {Greenville, SC}

    The weekend before Thanksgiving, we headed up to Greenville, SC for the final soccer tourney of this half of the season for Drew. We didn’t get out of town until after 6 because I had to work, which was fine. We had opted not to leave earlier, because we were trying to avoid Atlanta traffic. Our ride there was good, and happily arrived around 11 pm to our hotel. We stayed at the Hyatt Place. Saturday we woke up bright and early to get out to the fields for an 8 a.m. game. The game ended in a tie. We…

    Cruise Talk {4 Day Western Caribbean} Carnival Inspiration

    We drove down the night before and spent the night at the Comfort Inn in Weeki Wachee. Got up the next morning and dropped Drew off with Rob’s Gramma and headed to the Pier. It’s always so exciting. Never gets old seeing those towering ships! Here’s Drew with his Uncle Nick at dinner the first night. It also never gets old enjoying all the food…”free” food! Remembering fine details of this trip have been a bit of a challenge, but I’ll do my best to recount this as accurately as I can. So we docked in Cozumel and had decided…

    This cruise was planned a little while after we found out we were expecting our 2nd child. We wanted to go ahead and bring Drew on a cruise, because we knew it would probably be quite awhile before we got to take him on one. Rob’s Mom and Step Dad joined us, which was nice. This trip was taken in October over a long weekend with a Columbus Day Holiday. We opted for a 3 day Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas and the private island, Coco Cay. We left Thursday night and drove down to Orlando. We spent the…

    Trip to Murphy, NC

    Tuesday night the week before 4th of July, Rob was talking with his brother about finding something “fun” to do over the weekend. The last few years we have mainly hung out at home and enjoyed time with our neighbors. Before that we headed to Texas to visit my family there. Anyway, after some thought and research we decided it would be fun to head up to the North Georgia Mountains. Since it was so close to the date, there were only a few options. We ended up staying here in Murphy, NC. We went with Rob’s Mom, Step-Dad, adopted…

    Photo Walk {Atlanta: Oakland Cemetery}

    Last Saturday I took a trip up to Atlanta for my first photo walk. We met up at Oakland Cemetery. It’s quite a large cemetery currently at 48 acres. There are several sections of the cemetery Original 6 acres, Confederate section, New Jewish section, Black section, and Potter’s field. I made it to 3 sections, I believe. I would really like to go back and see the areas that I missed. Front entrance. (If you ever go here, DO NOT park in the parking lot that sits near this sign. Park inside the cemetery. There were 2 people from our…
