Christmas Day was quite enjoyable. Rob and I woke around 9 am and couldn’t believe the kids had let us sleep so long. We jumped out of bed and got breakfast in the oven and unloaded our stockings. We enjoyed our breakfast of sausage balls and apple fritters. Daisy was very excited about what Santa brought; a braided bone and some doggy ‘candy.’ After finishing up with breakfast and stockings we settled down in front of the Christmas tree to open presents. Santa brought the boys a balloon maker with the long balloons that can be made into balloon animals.…

Christmas Eve day was fairly busy. Not as busy at the 2 days before, but still a little busier than I would have preferred. But like this entire Christmas season, for some reason, for us everything has been so different. I won’t go into all the reasons why, but it’s just been bizarr-o. Oh I digress… Thursday Rob and the kids went to Newnan, because one of Rob’s Facebook friends was selling a 42″ plasma TV for super cheap. Although, we weren’t in need of a TV, it just wasn’t a deal we could pass up. So Christmas Eve, Rob…

I promised you some pics of the tree decorated. So here ya go. She’s a little on the short side and nice and wide. Yah, she fits riiiiight in. š She’s perfect for our front room that luckily is quite roomy. This is my new ornament that I got at our Sunday School class party. Every year we do an ornament dirty Santa. I don’t think I ever showed the one I got last year, so here it is. My Mom included 3 of my Granny’s Santa Coke Ornaments. Here’s 2 of them. I guess Granny doesn’t put up a…

I made these handmade gifts for my coworkers. They are super easy and super inexpensive. I think for a set of 4, it cost about $1.40. I had lots of fun choosing the paper for each person that reflected their personalities. They were quite a hit. *Remember to allow 30 days before using the coasters for HOT stuff. Materials: Mod Podge Foam paint brushes Paint scraper Scrapbook paper Ceramic tiles Polyurethane Felt or felt feet Directions: 1. Cut the paper to fit the tile. I used a scrapbook paper cutter. 2. Use a paintbrush to spread the Mod Podge on…

Cherry Cordial M&M’s are so amazing! I couldn’t believe how much they taste like a chocolate covered cherry without the juice of the cherry. If you like Chocolate covered cherries, you should try them and see what you think. Peanut Butter M&M’s are pretty much what you would expect. Chocolate M&M’s with a peanut butter filling. Yummy!

I usually don’t write about politics. I’m not really one to publicly voice my opinions about stuff like this, but I’m really the need to vent right now. I’m on facebook as is most of the world, and have “friends” of all sorts. Anyway, I won’t go into specifics about that as I shouldn’t go down that road. I just don’t get why people feel the need to have such absolute hatred for certain people in politics, especially ones that have never had any jurisdiction you and have in no direct way effected you. I totally understand that people are…

This weekend has been a whirl-wind of activity! Nothing like the holidays. š Here’s pics of us getting our Christmas tree. This year we found a new Christmas tree farm, that actually had a decent selection of trees that we like, Virginia Pines. For those of you who celebrate Christmas, what kind of trees do they grow/sell in your area? How ’bout this one? Reminded me of the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Or maybe this one? Love the cool sign… We found the one we want. Now Drew starts to cut it down. Then, after Rob tried it for awhile,…

Today started out like any other day. Kids up, back to bed, sleep, up for lunch, then off to work… As I was walking into work, a colleague of mine, John*, (who is also a good friend of the family) was leaving a bit earlier than usual. He informed me that he had to go get his son, Kevin*, who is also a friend of Drew’s, at Science Olympiad* practice. About an hour later, John called asking me if Iād seen Kevin. When I said no, he asked for me to go look around for him. John said that Kevin…

I did this survey back in 2005, but decided to do it again when I saw someone else post it. Click here to see how my answers have changed over the years. 1. Eggnog or hot chocolate? I’ve never tried eggnog. Maybe I’ll do that this year. There’s just something about it that sounds and/or looks so unappealing. Hot coco, although, I’m not big on hot drinks, anyway. 2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree? Wrapped, sometimes he may bring one thing that’s not wrapped. 3. Colored lights or white? Combination of both 4. Do…

Last night Rob, Drew, and I had a date night in Atlanta to see Tran-Siberian Orchestra. If you’ve never heard of them, you actually probably have heard a song or two of theirs, but don’t let the name fool you. They are not an orchestra, but an amazingly talented rock band that utilizes strings, polished vocal talent, and narration, along with a spectacular laser and pyrotechnics show. It was an amazing show, one of the best all-around performances I’ve ever seen. Great quality, sounds, lights, and pyro. See the Setlist here.

The holiday season is my favorite time of year. I love soaking up all that the Christmas season has to offer, from the smells, the decorations, the food, Christmas movies, cooking for the occasion. There’s not much that I don’t like about the Christmas season. Snow makes me excited. Living in the South, we don’t see snow much. When we do, I enjoy staying home from school/work. Playing in the snow with the kids. Watching the kids slide down the hill across the street. Great fun! The best comfort food to eat when it’s cold out is either chili or…

Today I’m thankful for entertainment to help take my mind off heavy things in life and make life more bearable.

Well, I survived the Thanksgiving week. I was supposed to work 9-6 Monday and Tuesday. Saturday night, I felt drainage down in my throat, so I went to look for some cold meds, but we didn’t have exactly what I needed. I just went to bed without taking anything. Needless to say, I woke up Sunday with a sore throat. Monday, I woke up not feeling any better. In fact, I was having a hard time hacking my stuff up. I stopped by Walgreens for some Mucinex and headed on to work. Everyone was asking me what was wrong. “You’re…

Today I’m thankful for Christmas time. I’m thankful for my Lord and Savior, who sacrificed his Son for me and you. Christmas time is my favorite time of year. Yes, I enjoy decorating, the music, the food, the smells, child laughter and joy, parties, time off, time with family. How can you not love this time of year when you have all that?

I am thankful for all the things in life that we think we need, but really don’t. Like cars, cell phones, TV’s, Facebook, internet, iPods, iPads, all that fun stuff.

Today I’m thankful for life. It’s something that we take for granted when we really stop and think about it.

Today I’m thankful for the little things in life. The laughter of my children, the beautiful fall colors, the butterflies in the spring, the smell of homemade spaghetti sauce cooking, the silliness of Daisy, the comfort of my bed. All these are little pretty “insignificant” things, but they make me smile and happy even when things seem to be going all wrong.

I am thankful for the invention of the camera. I just think about all the things that my photographs help me remember. All the memories that I have stored up, that I can look back through thanks to a camera. Whether it be a Kodak 110 or a Canon Rebel, they all serve a purpose and the most important to me is preserving memories!
