really teasing us. After one of the coldest winters we’ve had, we are SO ready for spring. I took these pictures last weekend while we were in Baton Rouge visiting family. Candi has this beautiful tree in her yard. I’d like to add some of these to our yard someday.

In 2001, Rob and I wanted to do something for spring break and we had thought about cruising. Although, we didn’t know much about it. We had some information we’d heard from various sources. In January, we decided to go visit a travel agency and see what kind of info we could get. We ended up at Adventure Travel with an agent named Sue, who could not have been a better source. She is a cruisin’ queen, with lots of personal experience. She knew all the ins and outs of cruising. After talking with her for over an hour, we…

The weekend before Alex turned 6 he decided he was going to learn to ride his bike. I was so proud that he and his big brother were outside working on it. In 2 days he pretty much had it down. Over spring break we went to Town Creek park. They have bike paths that go through the park. We also went over to the school, where they have a nice big parking lot so that he could ride and practice his turns. This spring break we just hung out. When it wasn’t raining, the boys and I went outside to ride bikes and play. The 2nd weekend of SB we went to Baton Rouge to visit family. We always look forward to Cajun food when we head over that way. We went to Chimes on Sunday after church. It was so yummy! Rob had Red Beans & Rice and Crawfish Etouffe. We had Boudin Balls and onion rings for appetizers. SO yummy! I had the Catfish platter, which came with Red Beans & Rice and Hush Puppies. Although these beautiful flowers had…

For some reason, Rob gets an American Girl catalog. Oh, I just get all giddy looking through it. It’s a good thing they weren’t around when I was little. I’m not sure I would have had a collection of them like I did with Cabbage Patch dolls, but I sure would have like to have! I know CP dolls seemed to be quite expensive back in the day, but I know they weren’t $100. Anyway… The other day as I was looking through the American Girl catalogue, I found myself looking through it as if I were going to be…

This little conversation came after Alex asked me if it was cold outside. Alex: Rosie must get cold. She doesn’t have a tail. Me: That’s right. Alex: Don’t most animals have tails? Me: Yah Alex: Are there any humans that have a tail? Me: No, we don’t have a need for a tail like animals do. Alex: That’s why we get cold easier than animals.

How can it be? I just swoon when I see this pic of my little guy. How I miss the tiny-ness of holding a newborn. There’s nothing holding a little piece of you. Someone you created… Someone; a baby that grew inside of you. Someone that relies on you 100%… There’s just nothing like it! Happy birthday, Alex! Love you…….

My last week at the library I saw this book, flipped through it, and decided to check it out. I loved that it was short, sweet, and to the point. It outlines 63 rules about food. A lot of it is common sense, but I think for a lot of us we have lost our common sense when it comes to food. Anyone else agree with me there? I know deep down, I know what’s good and not good, but when I’m “on the go”, I just throw all that out the window. And I drive up to the window!…

Not sure if I’ve talked about my temporary evening job I’ve had since November. If you follow me on Facebook, you’re well aware. Anyway, it has been a true blessing. It really helped us survive Christmas. Unfortunately it has finally come to an end, but I’ve made a few notes during this experience. I’ve learned so much and it has really been a fun job. So here goes….. Did you know that you can rent lap tops at the library? and Group study rooms? Extension cords and even power strips? There’s also DVD’s, Boxes of Rocks, and dry erase markers…

We had a snow day on Friday. We made our way over to our neighbors across the street. They have a nice hill that the boys sled down on inner tubes. We probably ended up with 4-5 inches. Here’s some pics:

I’ve had this post about half way done for awhile and am finally making myself finish. We did our traditional sleepover for Drew’s birthday. 8 boys came this year. They were really loud and rambunctious for the first few hours, but when it was time to ‘chill’ they did! They watched The Goonies and loved it! Each year we notice a little differing conversations and focuses of the party. This year they were really into throwing the football, texting each other their cell phones, and (as I stick my fingers in my ears) talking about girls. I wished I had…

So while at K-mart shopping for a birthday gift for a classmate of Alex’s…We’ve picked out the gift just had to get her a card since he insisted on it! Here’s the conversation that took place: Alex: Mom, I gotta fart. Where can we go so I can do it? Me: We’re almost done here, so just squeeze your butt cheeks together. Alex: Mom, I don’t know how to do that. Me: Just squeeze. Alex: I can’t Me: Ok, well then just let it go, no one is around. Alex: But I don’t want anyone to hear it. Me: No…

Yesterday’s sermon was over 2 of the 4 Biblical principles that our Preacher lives by daily. It was again another one of those sermons that I needed to hear. The 2 standards that he spoke of were: 1. Trusting in God. 2. Knowing that Happiness is a choice. These are things that I try to keep in mind, but these last couple of years have been quite trying for me. I’ve almost felt like anytime I decided I was going to be happy, I couldn’t because I am “unemployed.” I’m not able to: — save for my kids’ college. —…

I went through all 11,000 pics I took last year! I narrowed it down to about 90 something and then had to choose from there. It was fun and a bit challenging. As an “artist” I think we get attached to certain pictures for one reason or another. I tried not to just post the top 10 that I’m attached to. 10. Ok, this picture just evokes complete happiness and laughter. We were watching a herding demonstration and as you see, the one sheep wasn’t happy with the pushing and shoving so it just leaped up. I love that I…

I have a box of old T-shirts that the boys have grown out of that I just couldn’t bare to throw or give away. Since I’ve been trying to do more sewing, I decided it would be great to take these old T-shirts and make something ‘memorable’ and/or ‘usable’ out of them. The first attempt was to make a T-shirt pillow. I already had some soft fleece fabric that would have a similar “feel” to the T-shirt fabric. You alwa So here’s what I did: 1. Lay the T-shirt out flat. Iron it, if need be. 2. Mark out where…
