PICS 1: We started out the month with a quick trip to Atlanta to see Elton John in his Farewell tour. That weekend was his last time to perform in Atlanta before he retires in the next year or 2. Rob is such a big Elton fan and is sad that he won’t be touring anymore, but understands that he is 72 years old and wants to spend time with his family. It was such a great concert with all his greatest hits and a few lesser known songs. That man played for 3 straight hours and Ray Cooper (percussionist)…

In the last couple of years, I have quit writing posts to recap my week or month and while many of you might not find them interesting, I enjoy looking back through time and remembering what was going on. I think I’m going to start doing a weekly post on Mondays called “The Weekly.” I’ve seen this from some other bloggers and I kinda dig it. Jeez, now that September’s almost over, I thought I’d better do my summer wrap up. Before you know it, it will be Christmas. Sheesh! So for us in Alabama, school gets out in late May so that’s where our fun will begin. –MAY– Memorial Day Weekend my 2 nieces stayed with us while their parents traveled to NYC. On that Saturday was their Recital Day! On Sunday, we went over to Lake Martin. We hiked at Smith Mountain and then enjoyed some lake time with our friends. The boys rescued a turtle. Back in March, Drew got in a wreck,…

Who’s excited that Spring is here? I know many places around the country are still knee deep in snow. I am praying that in a couple weeks when Rob and I fly up to Boston that the snow stops because we have to end up in Washington, DC for Rob’s work conference. So here’s the list of things I’d like to do before Spring is over. Take pictures of Cherry Blossoms Shop at a farmer’s market Take Daisy for a walk Go to a museum Decorate for Spring Find a four leaf clover Go to a Spring Training game Do…

We got word around 10am on Tuesday that there would be no school for Alex the next day. Rob, Drew, and I didn’t hear about our work and school until right after I left work that evening about 4:45pm. We figured it was coming, just a matter of getting the alert. Wednesday morning we woke up and bundled up and ventured outside for some fun in the snow. Well, all of us except Rob. Even the dog and cat came out with us. The snow was beautiful. We got about 3 inches and it was so light and fluffy, which…

So it doesn’t matter how many times doctors and nurses tell you something. Anytime the C word [Cancer] is involved it scares the absolute life out of you. I went for my annual gynecologist appointment back in September. The doc and I discussed my upcoming mammogram which was scheduled for mid October. Since it was going to be my first one, he warned me that often times they will call you back in for more tests for varying reasons. One reason is pre-menopausal women have dense breast tissue which makes it hard to see clearly. Another reason is that they…
