Hey yall! Today I’m excited to be linking up with good ol’ blog friend, Leslie and my new blog friend, Carrie. They are starting a new series called from Texas with Love. I’m not sure if they really only want Texans linking up, but regardless I thought it would be a fun post to write. The theme for January is All About You – (re)introduce yourself to your readers. This post has given me several ideas for upcoming posts, so that’s always a good thing. Where are you from? I am from Richland Hills, Texas, which is about 9 miles…

Here we are again for another ‘catch up’ travel post since we’re not traveling much because of COVID. A few years ago Rob and I went up to Huntsville, AL for a wedding. We spent the weekend there and made it into a mini-vacation. While we were there I had a couple spots I wanted to check out because I guess I’m a Taphophile. Admittedly, I had to google ‘nickname for people who love cemeteries’ and found this: In the last few years, I’ve become quite interested in checking out really old or unique cemeteries. When researching what to do…

Hey yall! How was your weekend? Mine was good…for the most part. We celebrated Drew’s 23rd birthday. Man, as I type that, it makes me feel old. How am I old enough to have a kid that age?! I’m changing my “The Weekly” posts to run Monday-Sunday instead of Sunday-Saturday, but this week is my transition so this one runs Sunday-Sunday. I have wanted to do that for some time because that way I have the entire weekend in 1 post not splitting Sunday off from it, which I don’t prefer. Anyway, let’s jump in to last week! PICS &…

Happy Saturday everyone! Time for another iSpy Photo Challenge. Ordinary Day – Most weekdays, you’ll find me here working from home. Favorite Here’s ‘Monty.’ Yes, I named a plant. I have been wanting to get some really cool house plants and these are usually so expensive. This is a Monstera Deliciosa, I believe. Right before Christmas they had these labeled as a Philodendron and it was $15. He is doing so well and is so pretty. Candle Do you love candles as much as I do? I enjoy burning one everyday while sitting in my home office. I don’t what…

Hey yall! Well we’re already a month into Winter and here I am just now posting some lists for Winter. That’s ok. We still have about 2 months left of winter. Today I’m going to recap a few things I made from my Fall Food Bucket List and then list off recipes/foods to try during Winter! Fall Food List Recap I had a lot of lofty goals when I made my Fall Food List! Here’s the few things that I did make with links for anything that I have posted about. — Apple Walnut Oatmeal Muffins — I tried these…

I know I keep saying it, but man, this year has been so busy so far. How are we already more than half way done with January? I was looking back to see when my last “The Weekly” post was, which was from back in December! My iPhone camera is dying and so I have quit taking pictures with it. I’m supposed to be getting a new phone through my work, but there’s some type of delay with it. Anyway, so this post usually includes pics from my iPhone. Although the last several months, most pics are from one of…

Hey yall! It’s already time for another iSpy photo challenge. I was in the office this week training my new crew. This means I get home and am ready to collapse. Just so tired. Here’s how I saw the prompts through my lens. Parts So I think I struggled with this one the most. I had all sorts of ideas, but ended up thinking about all the parts that make up my shadow box. I’ve had all this since I was a kid. Hungry Here’s my dinner one night when I was very hungry! This was a minestrone type soup…

Today starts off our iSpy 2021 Photo Challenge #1! Did you decide to join along? If so, how did do this week? I can’t wait to go check out your iSpy captures. I struggled a bit with a couple of them, but with this being such a busy week I’m pretty happy with what I came up with. – Hello 2021! For this one, I had thought I would take a picture of a new calendar or something. I actually am still waiting for my new Aubie Calendar, so that was a no go. So I thought came up with…

/beginning/ the new year with some goals that I’m actually still formulating. I hope to post those soon. I’ve also decided to begin doing the Sentence a Day post each month. In case you missed it, I’m also beginning a new photo challenge that you can read about here>>>> iSpy Photo Challenge /feeling/ relieved. Yesterday I had to do an diagnostic ultrasound because I had detected something before my last mammogram. The ultrasound showed ‘nothing of concern.’ Hallelujah! /organizing/ my thoughts, hopes, and desires for the New Year. This kind of goes along with my goal setting. I love the…

I’ve been wanting to do some type of link-up for 2021. I’ve also wanted to get more creative with my photography. I had this desire 6 years ago, but didn’t stick with it. This year I don’t want this to happen. I know having others join me in the challenge will motivate me to keep it going! So here’s how its going to work. I want to look for the marvelous in the mundane. I don’t think it matters how great your photography is or what camera you use, you always have room for improvement in one way or another.…

Happy New Year! I’ve seen so many people saying how they can’t wait till 2021 and how they seem think that with the flip of the calendar year that everything will be back to “normal.” While I hope that this year is much better than last year and we can slowly start to return to some normalcy with the vaccine getting more and more available as the year goes on, I don’t think that today is just going to all of sudden have everything ‘perfect!’ Am I the only one who is being ‘real’ about this? I haven’t had a…

This month I was happy about: getting to celebrate with Drew’s 22nd birthday in Atlanta and the next week getting to see the Hawks NBA game with Alex. This month I was sad about: having to say goodbye to Daisy. This year I’m going to rate the books & movies. Here’s my rating system: ♥ ♥ = Love it! A must read/see! ♥ = Really good! Highly recommend. ✓ ✓ = Good, not great ✓ = Not much to talk about X = Awful. Total waste of time Movies I watched were: Falling Inn Love (Netflix) ♥ TV Shows I…

We started off the month with a win in the Auburn vs. Alabama Game. Here’s Drew and Caitlyn at the game before they rushed the field with everyone else. Here’s Daisy when she was still out of it because they had to sedate her so they could do x-rays. She started limping on the backside around Thanksgiving. You can read about all that here. The next weekend we headed to Gatlinburg for a soccer tournament. Daisy…just so darn cute! Dang how I miss that face and her companionship. My Honda Pilot hit a milestone. Alex has been watching every time…

On Jan. 2nd, we had to take Daisy in. Let me back up since I don’t think I’ve been able to tell you that in early December, we had to take her in because she had been limping and it was getting worse. They did x-rays and determined it could be extremely bad Osteoporosis in both hips and back knees or bone cancer. We had 2 different types of meds that ended up having to give her daily because she just looked miserable too much. We were happy to have her with us for another Christmas, because she loved it.…

Happy New Year everyone! Honestly I wanted to come into this year with a great plan for this home away from home, but I haven’t. I don’t have a plan. I’m just going to keep holding on by a thread, because the next few months at work are huge and I’m absolutely slammed. I’m not going to bore you with all those details. However, I may do that later. 😉 So anyway, regardless of how much I’m able to post this year, I vow to not leave this place. I’ll post when I can and that’s my plan! So anyway,…

Dear Drew, As I reminisce back to your first days, I remember getting up with you at all hours of the night. I would often turn the radio on as I rocked and fed you. I’ll never forget the song Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden was popular back then and I would sing that song to you and you would stare up at me so intently. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pertinent Lyrics from Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden I’ll be your dream, I’ll be your wish, I’ll be your fantasy. I’ll be your hope, I’ll be your love, be everything that…

I was super excited to throw this recipe together. However, when I placed it on the table my kids weren’t thrilled about the peas and carrots in this recipe. I told them they had to have some veggies one way or another! I, personally, like the sweetness that the peas and carrots add. After trying it, my boys said it wasn’t too bad. They ended up loving it, saying they wanted to have this at least once a week. Servings: 4 Prep Time: 5 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Ingredients: 1 1/2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breast halves cut into…

We got word around 10am on Tuesday that there would be no school for Alex the next day. Rob, Drew, and I didn’t hear about our work and school until right after I left work that evening about 4:45pm. We figured it was coming, just a matter of getting the alert. Wednesday morning we woke up and bundled up and ventured outside for some fun in the snow. Well, all of us except Rob. Even the dog and cat came out with us. The snow was beautiful. We got about 3 inches and it was so light and fluffy, which…

You know I was thinking the other day when I was cooking some pasta about back when I was growing up. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you probably know, or you may not know, that my Dad’s parents raised me. Now my Granddad absolutely hung the moon for me. I was a Granddad’s girl for sure. I loved so many things about Granddad. One thing was that he enjoyed cooking and he was pretty darn good at it. However, Grandmother did not relish the act of cooking and probably for that very reason, wasn’t very good at…

I don’t know about you but this cold weather has me wanting to stay at home and not go anywhere. However, everything is getting back into the swing of things, so I don’t have much choice but to go out. Here in Auburn, we usually have a few days of 30 degree weather each year, but so far this year I don’t think it’s gotten above 45 degrees hardly. We’re just not used to 20 degree mornings and going home in the evenings its in the mid 30’s. Anyway, I need something warm and comforting, so I whipped up this…
