Sometimes it takes something bad happening for us to learn a lesson. Back in February, Drew tested our parenting words. We told him his brand new iPod that he received for Christmas was “as good as stolen if you take it to school!” I’m not sure what about that didn’t sink in with him. The third or forth time he took it to school, during his weight-training class, he left it and his cellphone in a “hidden” pocket in his book bag. He came back to a bag that had all the zippers left gaped open and a “hidden” pocket…

Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. ~ Proverbs 11:25 ESV Oh what a marvelous feeling it is to know you’re doing something for someone who can’t do it for themselves! Being the hands and feet of our Lord and Savior is just so worth the hard work. It’s a drop in the bucket comparatively, you know? A few weeks ago Rob’s and my Sunday School class got together with our families for a service project. Although, Rob and the boys were busy with a scouting event, I decided to be the representative…

Source: diaryofamadmommy-londi.blogspot.com via MagnoliaMom on Pinterest I came across a great blog today called The Orange Rhino challenge. I think I may have seen it before. However, today something made me look a little further when Google brought it to me while I was looking for something else. Anyway, I found it appealing to the eyes, because I adore orange and pink. It peaked my interest and I wondered what the challenge was. This mom of 4 boys under the age of 5 made a challenge last year to stop yelling. WOW! “God is looking out for me,” I thought…

Tostino’s is rolling out a couple new flavors of their popular Pizza Rolls. I grew up enjoying the good ole standby pepperoni Pizza Rolls, but now they are taking pizza rolls to all new level.

So proud of Drew’s JV soccer team this year. 63 goals scored and only 8 allowed the whole season. Fantastic players, wonderful parents, and great coaches. Coaches Carey and Mark Not sure what this face is… The team And I forgot to show yall this… Drew is listed in our local newspaper for scoring a goal!

I was sitting at the staff computer up at the our front desk, not evening touching the keyboard, when all of sudden the keyboard and the keyboard tray crashes into my lap! The mouse, of course, went flying straight to the floor. I just sit there as my 2 student workers look over at giggling, happy it didn’t happen to them. I pulled the thing out since it and the screws were just staring at me. 1 inch screws don’t do much good especially when they’re facing up going against gravity. I was amazed this hadn’t happened sooner. This is…

I woke up Tuesday morning feeling sick to my stomach. Feeling as if I was missing the funeral for my best friend. That yearning in my heart that told me, “Let me see them one more time.” It’s terrible, gut-wrenching. Knots form as I try not to ponder the thought that the Toomer’s Oaks will start to be trimmed away little by little until they take that chainsaw one last time and slice it through the bottom of that thick, thick trunk and let it plummet to the ground. Lifeless, haggard…dead. I watched (on live webcam) all morning as they…

This month I was happy about: life in general. I feel God working through me in so many positive ways. I love it! This month I was sad about: Alex’s continual complaining about his stomach bothering him and not sleeping good. Something I accomplished this month was: 2 mission projects: 1st day of service with our church and 2nd day of service with our Sunday School class. Something new I did was: successfully chair a position for Emmaus. This year I’m going to rate the books & movies. Here’s my rating system: ♥ ♥ = Love it! A must read/see!…

This was the 2nd year that our BSA district participated in the Auburn City Fest. Rob was in charge of the “ScoutFest” again this year.

Although, we didn’t go to the rolling of Toomer’s Corner after A-day, I raced over there Sunday night just as the clean up crews got there to start cleaning up. Here’s a few shots: I’ve written a bit about the trees already. I’m not sure any of my words have or could ever truly convey how special they really are to me and the rest of the Auburn Family. To most people this looks like a big mess, to the Auburn family this is beautiful! Here’s a aerial shot of the crowd during the final rolling. Tell me people don’t…

These trees have stood the test of time. Over a hundred years ago no one knew how beloved these trees would be. How they would be the center of countless celebrations after Auburn University victories. How they would be the focal point of a tradition that is a favorite among Auburn students, fans, and alums. But you see these trees are now dead by the hands of sick fan from our rival school. The trees have been dying since November 2010. We found out about the poisoning in February of the next year. Many, including me, cried bitter tears that…

This past Saturday evening our Pack celebrated the accomplishments of 9 of scouts who have earned the Arrow of Light award. This year we did the ceremony at the Forest Ecology Preserve. Read what the Arrow of Light Ceremony/Award is here on the post from 2009, when the year Drew earned his arrow of light. The Boy Scouts talking over the logistics of the ceremony. The pond down the hill. Here’s Alex standing next to the stack of wood that is ready to be lit. Time to eat! Boy Scouts prepare for ceremony. Bonfire = time for ceremony Boy Scouts…

Today some students came by and asked my student worker if they could ask her a couple questions on video for a project. She said sure so they went ahead and started rolling. “What is your definition of cohabitation?” She answered something to the effect, 2 people who are in relationship, who choose to live together before marriage. The 2nd question was “Do you agree with cohabitation?” Her answer that I loved, “For me, I believe that living together should be a reward for marriage. The opportunity to live together and all that comes with it is something that should…

Last weekend we went to the Mississippi Coast. You see we were supposed to go see Elton John a few weeks ago in Birmingham. Rob and Drew had tickets on the 8th row and I along with another friend of ours had tickets not so close, but Elton ended up sick. So we got notification 2 hours before leaving that it was cancelled. So bummed! Rob’s been keeping an eye out for Elton concerts within driving distance that had good seat available. He found some in Biloxi on the 16th row. It was a bit pricey, so I told him…

This month I was happy about: Drew making Honor’s Band for next year. This month I was sad about: the Elton John concert cancelled 2 hours before the concert. Something I accomplished this month was: getting my bedroom clean and organized. Something new I did was: get an anti-biotic shot. Don’t think I’ve ever had one of those before. This year I’m going to rate the books & movies. Here’s my rating system: ♥ ♥ = Love it! A must read/see! ♥ = Really good! Highly recommend. ✓ ✓ = Good, not great ✓ = Not much to talk about…

Last week, Rob was honored to be given a much deserved “District Award of Merit” for all his hard work in scouts over all. Very proud of him! I was so excited to find out he won it, because I told him “Now you can resign all your district positions! Right?” Let’s face it. My hubs is a volunteer-a-holic!

My pic of the day is pics of the day, because I had several pics I wanted to post from the Blue & Gold Banquet. You can see ever more pics here. It’s amazing how a room can become so festive with lots of hard work from our great group of volunteers Alex getting his awards Alex and me standing on stage while he gets his Wolf rank Alex with one of the super heroes

A punch in the gut. That’s how I felt when I saw a headline on the front page of our local newspaper a couple weeks ago. I saw the picture. I saw the name. At first, it didn’t hit me and then it did. I know that kid! I taught that kid! And now…he’s just been indicted by the grand jury for capital murder and assault charges in connection with the deaths of two people last year. This is a kid who gave me so much trouble, when his mom forced him to come to school, which was only a…

On the way to take Alex from school to Rob’s work, he said, “Today I accidentally had a great example of cause and effect.” The cause was I spilled some chocolate milk on me. The effect was I smelled like sour milk. And another effect from it was that the janitor had to come mop up the floor.”
