    Granny

Family Friday {Granny} Last week, it was kind of quiet around here, because my Granny passed away and we spent part of the week in Texas. She entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, February 8th. Rob and I flew out to Texas on Wednesday for the funeral on Friday. Granny was my last living Grandparent, so not only was it hard to lose her, it was hard knowing I now have no Grandparents and I have just 1 parent: my Mom. I never realized when people start losing family members how that really feels. It’s kind of a scary…

    Keeping Up with Your Goals

Remember back when we brainstormed about the new year? Many of you expressed you’d like a way to keep yourself accountable, so I finally came up with a printable sheet to help you with that! This printable sheet can be used for 2 weeks, just cut it half. I like that because I can easily fold it and keep it in my purse to refer back to. I keep one of these Crayola 5 Count Washable Triple Tip Markers in my purse to make the 3 different colors depending on how I feel I’m doing with these things throughout the…

    Memories of the Month {1.2015}

I was happy about: going to Gatlinburg with the Boy Scouts. I was sad about: hurting my back in Gatlinburg. TV Shows I watched were: CSI NCIS NCIS LA NCIS NO The Mentalist Hawaii 50 random old game shows The Bachelor The Pioneer Woman Revenge (Season 4 on Hulu) Hart of Dixie (Netflix) Parenthood (Season 1 Neftlix) The Good Wife (Season 1 Neftlix) My favorite song this month was: Something in the Water…

    Newest Member of the Family

Family Friday {New Pet Edition} For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you know about the newest addition to the family. Yes, I think hell has frozen over, because our newest family member is a cat. Rob has never been a huge fan of cats. When this cat started hanging out around the house, he actually entertained the idea of keeping it. We got her spayed the week before Christmas, which ended up becoming a nightmare. To sum it up, she ripped the sutures out. We had to take her back to the vet and they put staples…

    Do You Drink Enough Water?

Today I’m back to thinking about my New Year’s Resolutions. I have to keep in on the forefront of my mind or all those lofty goals will be long forgotten. Out of sight, out of mind, but I really want to succeed at accomplishing these goals. So today I’m thinking about making sure I drink enough water. Remember that our bodies are about 60% water, but in order for our bodies to remain healthy we have to drink water. In fact, our bodies require quite a bit of water everyday. Now we do get water from foods we eat, but…

    Drew’s 17th Birthday

Family Friday {Drew’s 17th Birthday Edition} Today my oldest turns 17! How can it be? It’s amazing how things change, but also how they stay the same. It’s really crazy to think that I’m old enough to have a 17 year old! Heck, I feel like just a couple years ago I was 17! I’ve typed and backspaced so many times on this post trying to convey so many feelings. So for now I’m going to quit the madness and maybe at some point my brain can come up with words to really express what my heart is feeling today.…

    Checklist Planner for Busy Moms

One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to be more organized and my word for the year is FINISH. Part of that is just having a plan of action each day to ensure that what needs to get done, actually does. I came up with this Checklist Planner to help me out each day. It has a place for what I need to accomplish in the mornings and in the evenings, as well as what I plan to blog about, what I plan to have for lunch and dinner, among other important reminders.

54 Reasons Book for your Valentine

A few days before Valentine’s Day, I decided I wanted to do something special for Rob. At first my plan was to write on index cards things I loved about him and hide them around his office. Then, I thought about the little books made out of playing cards. I thought that would be a great idea. I gathered/purchased the materials needed: 2 boxes of playing cards (Walmart has a package of 2 for $1) Avery Permanent Square Label, White, Inkjet/Laser, 2 x 2-Inches, Pack of 300 (22806) used Word template 22806/22816 Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad – Antique Linen…

    Christmas Time 2014

Family Friday {More Christmas edition} Did you see the Family Friday Christmas edition? Last week for Family Friday, I shared with you pics from Christmas Day. I couldn’t get by with that though, because there were other pictures from the Christmas season that I’d like to look back on and thought it would be fun to share them with you as well. Sandi Patty concert at my church My church always puts on a huge Christmas concert. This year we had the pleasure of having Sandi Patty sing with us. She was amazing to say the least. If you ever…

    Kids’ New Years Resolutions

I’ve dedicated several posts the last few weeks to making goals for the New Year. I thought it would be great for my kids to reflect and set a few goals as well. It’s important for kids to know what goals are and how to think through everything and plan. I also think it’s important for kids to think about the past and reflect on memories. Teaching kids to write things down is so important, especially in a day in age when everything is electronic. Let’s get back to pencil and paper for once! Download PDF copy of Reflections and…

    What’s Your Word 2015?

Y’all I have been out of town for 11 days and it is so difficult getting back in the swing of things. I was honestly not ready to go back to work yesterday and I’m pretty unmotivated. I hate that! In the new year, there are many things I hope to accomplish and when you’re just not feeling it, it’s a bit discouraging. However, I’m not going to let that stop me. I’m going to push through it. With that being said, how many of you have made New Year’s resolutions or goals? Did any of you just get to…

    New Year’s Resolutions 2015

Happy 2015! How can that be? With every new year, I try to look at it as fresh new beginning. Whether I make new years resolutions or not, I think it never hurts to reevaluate your life and to think about ways to improve it. Since I recently decided to rejuvenate my blog life and move to this new URL, I decided it would be a great year to start off with some New Year’s Resolutions. If you decide to write some, remember you should only have 3-7 goals. Having too many will overwhelm you and will make it hard…

    Christmas 2014

Family Friday {Christmas edition} Christmas came and went so fast. We enjoyed our normal breakfast of apple dumplins and sausage balls. Opened gifts and then, Rob started preparing our Christmas dinner of homemade meatballs, sauce, and pasta. We had a scaled down Christmas and I was happy that everyone was just as happy. Drew got a new phone. Alex got a bike. Rob got a toolbox and I got a Fitbit. Daisy is all over Christmas. She opened her own gifts and then proceeded to try and help all of us open ours. We enjoyed a lovely dinner with Rob’s…

    Auburn Christmas Parade

On this Christmas Eve, many of us are busy hustling around getting last minute shopping trips, wrapping gifts, and cooking. I’m guilty of all three, I’m afraid. I thought I throw together a few pics from the Auburn Christmas Parade from a few weeks ago. All three 4 of my family members were in the parade. Drew and Caitlyn are the AHS band so they marched and played. Rob and Alex were with the Cub Scouts. Since Alex is a Webelos II this year, he got to walk in front of the float. Does your city have a Christmas parade?

    Planning for New Year

Planning for New Year Have you started thinking about the new year? I know Christmas is smack dab around the corner and this year has absolutely flown by! I just can’t believe it. So with all that being said, I’ve started thinking about the new year 2015. I created a printable sheet with 15 verbs to get me thinking about things I want to do in the new year. 15 things for 2015. Now these are not going to be my set of resolutions. That’s way too many. I just used this sheet as a tool to help me think…

    Top 10 Christmas Movies

Starting right after Thanksgiving, I really enjoy watching Christmas Movies. Thought I would share them with you along with great quotes from each movie. 10. Jack Frost (1998) This heart-warming movie with Michael Keaton and Kelly Preston is one that you just can’t go wrong with. Favorite Quote Jack: My balls are freezin’! I never thought I’d say THAT with a smile on my face. 9. Deck the Halls (2006) I was really excited when this movie came out because Ferris Bueller (my fav movie) aka Matthew Broderick is in the movie as Steve Finch along side Danny Devito. Devito,…

    4 Wheelin’

Family Friday {4-Wheeler Edition} Earlier this month, we enjoyed a nice time visiting with one of our good friends, Mr. Paul, at his place. We enjoyed lunch at the Broadway Diner. Afterwards, we had a great time hanging out with Mr. Paul. The kids along with Drew’s girlfriend enjoyed driving a 4-wheeler and golf cart. A little look of concern from Caitlyn. What you don’t see a picture of here is Drew started to take off before this picture was taken. The throttle was messed up and Drew (with Caitlyn on the back) jumped the 4-wheeler up on a concrete…

Thanksgiving Recipes by An 8 Year Old

In my scrapbook from my childhood, I found a gem. My 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Marshall, who was one of my all time favorite teachers had us write a recipe of how to prepare turkey and dressing. She typed all of our responses up just the way we wrote them. If you have young kids, I highly recommend you have them do this and save it for laughs later.

    Turkey Day Art & Letter

While going through all the stuff I got from my Grandmother’s house, I came across a book with a lot of my stuff from school. Seeing these Thanksgiving projects brought back many memorable memories and I just had to share them. My turkey from 2nd grade (I think) My Thanksgiving letter from 1st grade. Not sure why I wrote it God, but ok. 🙂 Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
