Memories of the Month {5.2015}

By | June 1, 2015

I can’t believe we are already almost half way done with this year and it’s already June! What? The end of the school year is always so busy, so it’s over in a blink.

Memories of the Month - Here's a great idea for wrapping up the month with a set of questions to remember how your last month with. I love going back and reading through what happened throughout the years.

This month I was happy about: that Alex is done with elementary school! I loved the first elementary school that he and Drew went to, but then the district decided to have sister schools. This is where they have K-2 at one school and 3-5 at the sister school. This happened with Alex was going into 4th grade, so he had to attend the new school for just 4th and 5th grade. While it was a beautiful, brand new school I just never felt that he gelled with his teachers or the school. He learned, but I don’t feel he prospered like he did at this sister school. So with that, while I’m nervous about him going into 6th grade – middle school, I know that his brother thrived in middle school and still proclaims 6th grade as his favorite year in school…what? Who does that! So I’m hoping Alex has similar experience in 6th grade.

TV Shows I watched were:
NCIS
NCIS LA
NCIS NO
CSI Cyber
Hawaii 50
Amazing Race
Survivor
The Pioneer Woman
Bones
The Bachelorette (belch)
Person of Interest
Friday Night Lights (watching through for the 2nd time on Netflix)
The Big Bang Theory
King of Queen reruns
Between (Netflix show)
Lots of Auburn Softball

My favorite song this month was: Strong Enough to Save by Tenth Avenue North

What I remember about work was: Ashley, who is one of the most amazing student assistants ever, graduating and leaving me. 😉 She actually did my job while there was no one in the position that I’m in now. I miss her so much! I also had to hire a new student assistant all on my own for the very first time. I’m pleased with the outcome, so far.

A lesson I learned this month was: what good friendships I make with so many of my student assistants. I love they want to keep in touch after the move on after graduation.

A friend and I: enjoyed our Memorial Day weekend with our families out at the lake.

My favorite pic that I took was: this one of the AHS graduation. You can see Caitlyn in the middle. She’s not happy or anything. 😉
Caitlyn at AHS Graduation Post coming soon!

The favorite thing I cooked was: Strawberry CrumbleStrawberry Crumble

Drew was: happy to be done with his junior year. Feeling excited about his senior year of high school that will be upon us before we know it.

Alex was: frustrated that his gerbil, Ray, keeps getting out of the cage. We’ve got to make a new top for the cage to keep this from happening. Luckily he never goes too far.

Rob was: sick. He’s had allergies that have come with a vengeance. Coughing like crazy. He went to the doctor and was surprised it wasn’t an infection. I’m hoping he starts feeling better soon.

The thing I’ll remember most from this month was: Caitlyn graduating and how excited she is. We’re excited for her and all that her future holds for her.
