    Water Skiing on Lake Martin 2015

    Over the Memorial Day weekend, we continued our tradition of going up to the lake with our friends. Last year they added boat riding and tubing to the fun. This year they got water skis. Drew tried water skiing a couple years ago with some other friends, but was limited to just a few tries, none of which were successful. He was anxious to try it again. Joe’s Dad, Ben, gave Drew some advise about what to do. However, Drew’s 1st attempt was short lived as you can see from this picture. The 2nd attempt was more of a success.…

    Caitlyn is a Graduate!

    Family Friday {Graduation Edition} Drew’s girlfriend, Caitlyn, graduated from AHS last week! We are so proud of her. Graduation was held at Auburn University’s Auburn Arena where they play basketball, as well as where Auburn University graduation takes place. We can’t wait to see her walk across the stage there again in 4 or 5 years. The next night, Caitlyn’s grandparents hosted a lovely outdoor graduation party for her with family and friends. The party started at 7, so there was probably about 30 minutes of daylight left. Caitlyn had candles leading to the backyard, white Christmas lights, as well…

    Memories of the Month {5.2015}

    I can’t believe we are already almost half way done with this year and it’s already June! What? The end of the school year is always so busy, so it’s over in a blink. This month I was happy about: that Alex is done with elementary school! I loved the first elementary school that he and Drew went to, but then the district decided to have sister schools. This is where they have K-2 at one school and 3-5 at the sister school. This happened with Alex was going into 4th grade, so he had to attend the new school…

    Walking down memory lane…

    I don’t write a ton of personal stuff on here anymore, but I’d like to. Often I have all these thoughts and just can’t get them into coherent sentences. I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately. Today is always a day I really reminisce, because today is my Granddad’s birthday. He lost his battle with congestive heart failure in May 1999, so May is really a time he’s on my mind a lot. I’ll never forget the dreaded 2 a.m. phone call from my uncle. I listened to the answering machine just praying it was a wrong number only to hear my…

    Happy Mother’s Day

    Today is Mother’s Day, so I’d like to say Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. I’d like to say a special Happy Mother’s Day to the sweet lady that gave birth to me. My Mom is one of those cool Moms, who is not only a Mom but a best friend to her 3 kids. If asked how to describe my Mom, I would describe her as loving, generous, unselfish, caring, playful, silly, and just all around awesome! She never puts herself first. She’s willing to give up the last dollar in her pocket for someone who…

    Memories of the Month {4.2015}

    This month I was happy about: that something miraculous happened and now my blogs are working normally. *fingers crossed* This year I’m going to rate the books & movies. Total waste of time Movies I watched were: Flight – X – It’s rated high, but we were totally mislead by the reviews. This is a move about addiction and very little of it is about the…

    Prom 2015

    Family Friday A couple weeks ago, my heart cringed with angst as I took pictures of this handsome young man and his beautiful girlfriend before releasing them into the jaws of the Junior/Senior right of passage called PROM. In the back of my mind, I feel like it was just a couple years ago that was me going to prom. Anyway, the plan for Drew and Caitlyn was to meet over at a friends house with their group for dinner before going over the Auburn Hotel and Conference Center for the main event. I offered to meet up with them…

    Alex’s Arrow of Light Ceremony

    Family Friday Last Friday night was big night in the life of our family for 2 reasons. It was the Arrow of Light Ceremony and for those who are not familiar with Scouts, Arrow of Light Ceremony is the highest award you can receive as a Cub Scout, so it’s kind of like the Eagle Scout for Boy Scouts. Alex earned his Arrow of Light Friday night. This was a big deal for 2 reasons, 1st being after receiving the Arrow of Light it is then time to move on to Boy Scouts and secondly, our family as been a…

    Katniss

    Family Friday {Katniss, the Kat Cat} Today, I thought I’d update you on the newest member of our family. Our Cat, Katniss, fits right in. If you missed all the drama we had with her after adopting her, you can read about that here. I’m glad to say that things are normal now. Katniss has fit in quite nicely. For the first few months, we were scared to let her out at all, for fear she would run away. Then, there came a day that I was sick and tired of having to deal with the litter box, so out…

    Eagle Project Proposal

    Family Friday {Eagle Project Proposal} Drew wrote his plan for Eagle Project Proposal and he before the board last week. So exciting! This is one of the first steps in completing the Eagle Scout Project. Now he has to write the Project Plan and then assemble groups of people to carry out the plan. He is doing his project at Alex’s Elementary School. He is working with the P.E. teacher, who was his P.E.     Spring Break {Flashback}

    Flashback Friday{Spring Break} I didn’t have much to share about the family this week, which is just crazy. This was Spring Break and Rob and Drew were gone much of the week, I was thinking back to the Spring Breaks of the past. I scrolled through the pictures and found a few and decided to make this little collage. 1999 – Here’s Rob and Drew (14 months) somewhere in Florida. We were with Rob’s Gramma and Granpa staying in a condo they had rented while they looked for places to live. They were getting ready to move from Atlanta to…

    Blue & Gold Banquet

    Family Friday {Blue & Gold Banquet} Last week was the annual Cub Scout Blue & Gold Banquet. It was our last one, since Alex is moving up to Boy Scouts in a few weeks. This years them was camping in the outdoors. The decorating committee did a great job decorating with tents, sleeping bags, lanterns, fake fire, and even Christmas trees to help really fill it in. The tables were numbered with yellow ‘tents.’ They also made little table decorations that looked like a camp fire surrounded by rocks. Inside of each one they put one of those plastic, battery…

    Alex’s 11th Birthday Party

    Family Friday {Alex’s 11th Birthday Party} Alex turned 11 last Saturday. Here he is on his birthday, long hair and all. Being that he’s the 2nd child, it seems as though we fail to allow him to do many of the things we let Drew do at the same age. We have really started to make sure he is not slighted from all the opportunities that kids should be allowed. It just happens that his birthday usually falls the weekend of the Cub Scout Blue & Gold banquet so for many years that was always our excuse. This year the…

    Granny’s Funeral

    Family Friday {Granny’s Funeral} Before the funeral the church prepared a lovely lunch for us. We enjoyed fellowship with family as well as the church members. We went to say goodbye to Granny one more time before they closed her casket and then we gathered in the parlor. Rob was a pallbearer and then we all rode in Cadillacs with motorcycle police escorts over to the grave site.

    Capone’s Coal Fired Pizza {Fort Myers, FL}

    On our Florida Tour, on Sunday after leaving Myakka River State Park, we drove the rest of the way down to Fort Myers, Florida where we were staying at the Hotel Indigo. We checked into the hotel, got settled in and then decided to walk around and find a cool place to eat. We ended up at Capone’s Coal Fired Pizza. Many of us weren’t in the mood for Pizza. However, after examining the menu that was displayed outside we decided to give it a try, because it had pasta and paninis. Drew and Caitlyn both got the Fettuccine Alfredo,…
