    New Years Cruise: Carnival Liberty

Rob and I decided at some point, we would take each of Rob’s sisters kids on a cruise before they graduate from high school. However, time got away from us and the oldest is graduating soon. It ended up working out for us to go after Christmas. It was a great trip. Abi and her friend, Em were great travel mates. Here’s a quick run down of our cruise on the Carnival Liberty. New Orleans Picked up the girls from their respective homes and drove to New Orleans. We walked around and ate beignets at Cafe Du Monde. Dinner at…

    Carnival Valor Family Cruise

In August we went on a cruise and met up with my sister and her family plus our niece (our brother’s oldest daughter) and our Aunt & Uncle. We left out of New Orleans on a 4 day cruise on the Carnival Valor. We drove down after work on Wednesday night and got in really late. Day 1 – Getting on the Ship Got up the next morning, and met up with Uncle Brad and his wife and went to breakfast at Terrytown Cafe. They have a good breakfast and their donuts are delish! I resisted and only got one.…

Carnival Mardi Gras 2023 – Day 6 Grand Turk

Here we are for our last Carnival Mardi Gras 2023 cruise port post. I may do 1 more post to wrap it all up. Anyway, our last port of call was in Grand Turk. That morning we were up super early, so that we could scarf down some breakfast right when they opened at 6:30am as we had to meet in the theater at 6:45am for our excursion. We went through all that, got off the ship to go to our meeting spot. I already had in the back of my mind that since were supposed to be swimming with…

Carnival Mardi Gras 2023 – Day 5 Amber Cove, DR

We’re continuing our Christmas Cruise posts. Today I’m sharing about our time in the Dominican Republic, which is one of Rob’s and my favorite ports. Carnival docks at their port called Amber Cove, but the nearest ‘real’ town in Puerta Plata. That morning we had breakfast in formal dining and then met up with the kids to get off the ship. It was looking super gloomy and overcast, but luckily it cleared up pretty quickly and ended up being a beautiful day. We got off the ship and walked to the area where the taxis line up. Rob got us…

We got off the ship after eating breakfast at the Pig & Anchor. It was really the only place on board that opened early enough to get off the ship 1st thing. Our plan for the day was to explore Old San Juan by foot. Here’s what we saw as we made our way through Old San Juan… Loved all…

    Carnival Mardi Gras 2023 – Day 2 & 3

Day 2 and 3 on our cruise were both days at sea. If you missed the 1st post from this cruise, it’s here>>>>Carnival Mardi Gras 2023 – Day 0 & 1 The weather surrounding us was making for some very windy, rough seas. Luckily none of were feeling sick. It just meant the Lido and upper decks weren’t open and/or lounge chairs weren’t out for people to enjoy. That morning we got up and went to the Grand Atrium where the aerialists were even practicing for upcoming shows. Looking back now, I’m surprised they were even practicing with the ship…

    Carnival Mardi Gras 2023 – Day 0 & 1

Last fall Rob and I were entertaining the idea of a trip around Christmas. I mean we get 2 weeks off at Christmas and we knew Alex never got to go on a cruise since the one we cancelled. We ended up choosing one and pitching it to Alex and his girlfriend, Madison. They were good to go, so we booked it. We had to Drew and Caitlyn about it and invited them, thinking they probably wouldn’t be able to go since they already had one booked for April. However, they ended up calling us that night and getting it…

    Carnival Glory:Day 13 & 14:Days at Sea

Finally posting about our last 2 days on our back to back cruise on the Carnival Glory. As our ship made its way back over to New Orleans, we just did lot of relaxing. And eating… Enjoying our last days of not having to cook! We wanted to go play mini-golf. However, the ship’s shipment of golf balls didn’t come into the latest port, so they didn’t have any. If only we were able to grab that used golf simulator for sale, then at least we would still be able to play golf while aboard the ship. Rob was always…

This was our 4th time in Nassau (June 2003 / October 2003 / 2008) We had purchased an excursion, but it didn’t start till later in the day, so we decided to get off the ship and walk around since we had a few hours. We had never been to Freeport before, so we were excited to rent a car and see as much as we could during our day there. Key West, oh how, I adore you! Key West was a place my Dad loved and I think that’s why it has a special place in my heart. We’re going to jump into our day in Key West on our back to back cruises on the Carnival Glory. Before getting off the ship, we had breakfast burritos at the Blue Iquauna and then waited for the all clear. Views from the ship Mallory Square is right near the cruise port. This is Key West’s historic Old Town, where you will find the hub of all things touristy, shops, and more.…

    Carnival Glory:Day 7 & 8:New Orleans

Now that we’re done with the bulk of the wedding posts, I thought we could jump back into another Cruise post, because yeah, I’m still sharing about this epic trip! One day, I’ll get caught up! If you missed the last cruise post, here it is> Day 6 Cozumel. Day 7 was a day at sea and for most people, they were busy packing their things getting ready to disembark for the final time on that cruise. Carnival Glory:Day 6:Cozumel

Today, we’re continuing to share about our Back 2 Back cruises. Day 6 was the last port of call day for that 1st cruise. We’ve been to Cozumel several times as its a popular port of call. We weren’t scheduled to be able to get off the ship until 10am. This has it’s pros and cons. Nice to sleep in a little bit. Bad because more people are up later and lines for breakfast and getting off ship can be longer. We were able to get some breakfast at the buffet. We always try to have our stuff with us…

    Carnival Glory:Day 5:Grand Cayman

Writing about a 2 week vacation is daunting! Especially when you’re trying to do it 6 months after the fact. Luckily I have a few notes from each day jaunted down during the trip to help me remember some of the details. Let’s jump into Day 4 of our Back to Back Cruise on the Carnival Glory. We arrived at our docking location near George Town, Grand Cayman. The thing about this port is you don’t dock next to the island. You dock a ways out and have to get on a tender boat that brings you to shore. Then,…

Carnival Horizon 2022 – Little Havana and more

Today is the last Carnival Horizon post! This post is covering the day we got off the ship and what we did afterwards. Disembarkation day is never fun, but it really seemed to go better this time. The day before we picked up luggage tags. If memory serves there is an early group and later group. We picked the later group. However, I think everyone has to be off the ship by like 11am. I know its been forever since we’ve cruised, but again I thought it went easier and much less chaotic. We were off the ship, collected our…

Carnival Horizon 2022 – La Romana

Here’s probably my favorite day off the Carnival Horizon. The day we were in La Romana, Dominican Republic we got there around a 11, so we had time in the morning to go to ‘sit down’ breakfast. It was nice to not have to get up super early and just be able to go a little slower that morning. Here we are waiting for clearance to get off the ship. We were all excited for an excursion day. No renting a car in the D.R.!! The excursion was called Monkeyland & Dominican Flavors for Families. We loaded an air-conditioned bus…
