Visiting with Family
A Day at Johnson Space Center NASA

Day 8 of our trip began with kolaches at Mornings Kolaches. Yummy! Then we headed to Johnson Space Center aka NASA for a busy, fun-filled day.
Quick Trip to Florida {September 2013}
This past weekend we were able to take advantage of Labor Day weekend as Rob’s cousin threw a “non-funeral” birthday celebration for her Dad, Rob’s Uncle Frank. Since Drew was marching during halftime Friday night and didn’t want to leave after halftime we elected to get up at before the Rooster’s Call and get on the road early Saturday morning.
Family Visit and Picture Time
Dallas, Texas
Monday we said our goodbyes to Maria and fam. Then it was back on the road headed to my favorite state, Texas!!! We were surprised to see some “mountains” in Southern Oklahoma.
We went to a scenic lot and saw that Oklahoma is the hope of the Reflection seismograph .
Not long after that we saw this just that made my heart sing. **cue the sounds of angels singing**
Oklahoma City Highlights
Oklahoma City Family Visit
We left Friday after Rob got off work. Our first destination was Moore, Oklahoma, where Rob’s sister lives. We knew we couldn’t make it the entire 13 hours, so he made plans to stop in Maumelle, AR. We arrived around 1 am and quickly got to bed as we knew we needed to hit the road early the next morning. I didn’t take any pics on Day 1.
Saturday (Day 2) we popped out of bed, grabbed a snack from the continental breakfast, and were on our way! We started to get hungry about an hour and half away from Moore. We stopped in Henryetta, Oklahoma at a Braum’s, of course!
After leaving there, we stopped a drugstore nearby to get Rob some meds as he was fighting a bit of a cold.
Gatlinburg, TN Trip {Day 1}
Cub Scout Beach Trip 2013::Pensacola, FL
This past weekend was the Annual Cub Scout Pack Summer trip, but instead of venturing to higher ground, we braved the heat at the beach. Yes, we camped near the beach in Pensacola, Florida. Many leaders suggest it every year and every year a few other leaders are quick to nicks the idea. However, this year we thought we’d give it a turn.
We stayed at Big Lagoon State Park, which was quite large with lots of camping areas. (Wikipedia)
After Breakfast of egg, sausage, & potato scramble, we had a quick FYI meeting and a group picture.
Day at Callaway Gardens
Last Saturday, our friend, Chris, invited to us to go with him to Callaway Gardens to see the FSU Circus.
Trip to Birmingham
Drew and the AHS JV soccer team were in a tournament back in April. He went up with the team. Rob and I went up Friday night to watch the 2 games. Drove back to our friends’ lake house in Dadeville, then served at Emmaus Saturday morning and headed back up to Birmingham after that. Alex was with Rob’s mom while we did all this.
Biloxi, MS
Last weekend we went to the Mississippi Coast. You see we were supposed to go see Elton John a few weeks ago in Birmingham. Rob and Drew had tickets on the 8th row and I along with another friend of ours had tickets not so close, but Elton ended up sick. So we got notification 2 hours before leaving that it was cancelled. So bummed! Rob’s been keeping an eye out for Elton concerts within driving distance that had good seat available. He found some in Biloxi on the 16th row. It was a bit pricey, so I told him that we could make it a family trip, but that Alex and I would stay back at the hotel and save us $400.
Saturday morning we got up at 4:30am and headed down that way. We stopped at Krispy Kreme for hot, fresh donuts.
We got there in time to do the first trip out of the day on the Biloxi Shrimp Boat. We did this back in 2003 when I was pregnant with Alex, so we thought it was time to do it again. It’s a short educational trip that demonstrates how shrimping is done with lots of great details. My favorite part of course is seeing all that is collected in the net.
