My Lil’ Container Garden – Summer 2020

I’m honestly not even sure where to start with this garden post, since I haven’t done a great job of documenting it here all along. I know I’ve mentioned it a lot the last few months. To start off I’d like to say that this garden would not have been a thing if it weren’t for Jess at Roots & Refuge Farm and her Youtube channel. I started watching her about a year and half ago, I think it was when another Youtuber/Blogger friend, Constance from Cosmopolitan Cornbread mentioned her. Jess and her hubby who she lovingly calls ‘Sweet Miah’…

Jeez, now that September’s almost over, I thought I’d better do my summer wrap up. Before you know it, it will be Christmas. Sheesh! So for us in Alabama, school gets out in late May so that’s where our fun will begin. –MAY– Memorial Day Weekend my 2 nieces stayed with us while their parents traveled to NYC. On that Saturday was their Recital Day! On Sunday, we went over to Lake Martin. We hiked at Smith Mountain and then enjoyed some lake time with our friends. The boys rescued a turtle. Back in March, Drew got in a wreck,…

    Best of Summer 2017

I can’t believe tomorrow is SEPTEMBER!! Can you? Summer always flies by, so I’m not sure why I’m always surprised. In this best of summer post, I’m sharing the highlights of the last 3 months. As I gathered up pictures, I realized this summer has been so busy. We’ve covered a lot of ground among the 4 of us. So here goes… June I started the summer by finding a penpal. You can read about that here. Our friend Julia invited us to the lake for some food and relaxation and the celebration of her birthday. Always such fun with…

    August To Do List

July To Do Recap –Get more comfortable with my Fujifilm INSTAX Mini 8 Instant Camera. – I didn’t do as much as I would have liked. One day after work, I pulled it out and walked around outside and in the house trying different things. Honestly, I’m super frustrated with it. –Start exercising 3 times a week before the end of the month. Nothing like waiting till the last minute, but the last week in July we worked out at AU Rec & Wellness 4 times that week. This past week we made it twice, but that averages out to…

    Camp Sequoyah

This year Drew decided to attend a different Boy Scout camp. Since his troop is so large they usually have 2 different groups go to 2 different camps. The last several years he’s gone up to North Carolina to Camp Daniel Boone, but this year he opted to stay in his home state of Alabama, and attend Camp Sequoyah. His troop leaders are quite tech savy and for this summer’s camp outs, began blogging and posting pics through the weeks of camp. Well, I couldn’t have been any happier to find updates about what Drew had done each day along…

Just put me on the BAD MOM list!

Ahhhhh!!! I’m so upset right now and instead of putting part of this on my facebook, I’m going to do what I used to do and blog about it! So here goes…you have been forewarned. First, let me give some background info. Every summer our church has a “Sweat Week” for 6-12th graders. Sweat Week is where the teenagers sleep at the church for 3 or 4 nights and they spend each day doing mission work around the community. Last year Drew helped sort donations at the Salvation Army drop off center, shovel horse waste at a Horse Camp for…

    Feeling the Love at Camp

Last week Drew spent his first week at camp. He went away to Boy Scout Camp in North Carolina; Camp Daniel Boone. I always loved getting stuff while away at camp, so I had a lot of fun writing letters and packaging up little things to send him. Put a mark next to “Good Mom” deeds and helping the camp newbie feel the love at camp his first year! 🙂 On the packing list was of course a laundry bag. I found this in the $1 department at Target. I also found camp postcards, stationary & envelopes, and stickers in…

    Summer Days

Our 2nd of Summer Days…Today we started the morning by going to Town Creek Park and walked. We took some pictures along the way. Here’s the boys while resting on a bench. After that we went home and made homemade Strawberry-Lemonade Icies. Here’s a picture of Alex showing off the fact he gets to drink out of a big boy cup! The walk really stirred up our appetite so we went to Red Lobster with Rob for lunch. After lunch we came home only to struggle with Alex, who didn’t want to take a nap! I finally got him down…

Can I just snap my fingers?

I love to travel, just love it. But what I don’t love is getting ready to travel. Cleaning the house, packing, cleaning out the car, making sure we have everything, going to the store, paying bills, and the list goes on and on. I wish I could just snap my fingers and be ready to go. Well, for that matter, just snap my fingers and BE THERE! Here’s our itinerary for those interested: June 30-July 1: Jackson, MS (Mississippi Braves Game) July 1-July 3: Cedar Creek Lake, TX (Family visit) July 4-July 6: Fort Worth, TX (Family visit) July 7-July…
