PICS 1: We started out the month with a quick trip to Atlanta to see Elton John in his Farewell tour. That weekend was his last time to perform in Atlanta before he retires in the next year or 2. Rob is such a big Elton fan and is sad that he won’t be touring anymore, but understands that he is 72 years old and wants to spend time with his family. It was such a great concert with all his greatest hits and a few lesser known songs. That man played for 3 straight hours and Ray Cooper (percussionist)…

Here I am playing catch up again. Instead of calling this the Weekly since it’s more than just a week’s worth, I’m calling it The Catchup Post. This is post is going to catch us up from my Summer Wrap Up post from around August through October. Sheesh! I will start back with my “The Weekly” posts next Monday and *fingers crossed* hope to keep those up through the end of the year! August We had one last hurrah before getting knee-deep back into school and all the activities that Fall brings. Weekend Trip to Mobile At work, we have…

So how are y’all? I’m honestly feeling stressed, but instead of worrying I’m trying to pray and read and study scripture. Being disciplined is so hard when life just takes over and you get your priorities out of wack. I love that these scriptures help remind me what is truly important. I hope to share some stuff that’s been going on with me soon, so keep an eye out for that. Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives…

The Friday before the Auburn vs. Texas A&M game we drove to Atlanta to catch a plane to Houston, Texas. The next morning we got up early and headed from Hunstville, Tx where we stayed with Rob’s Dad and Step-Mom, and drove to College Station for the game and pre-game festivities. We were standing around waiting for the team to arrive for Tiger Walk. However, as we stood there we were told they weren’t doing a Tiger Walk. When the team arrived we figured out why. At Kyle Field the visiting team arrives in their buses and drive straight into…

As an Auburn alumnus, employee, and now parent, this is a beautiful sight. Most people look at this with disgust seeing a mess or even vandalism. Because I love Auburn, this is a beautiful sight. I don’t see defacing of property. I see victory. I don’t see violence or harm. I see celebration as Auburn fans, family, and friends coming together after a win. I don’t see vandalism. I see tradition that dates back to the late 1960’s. With this particular rolling after our win over Alabama, our state rivals, I see an opportunity to play for the SEC championship…

A couple weeks ago, Rob went to Atlanta for a conference and I decided to come along and do fun stuff while he works. You may remember he’s been to this conference in Atlanta a few years ago, but it was in Midtown. However, this year they did the conference in downtown Atlanta. We stayed at the swanky Marriott Marquis Atlanta. I always remember this hotel for the really cool view as you look up or down from the 42nd floor. Apparently, a couple scenes from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 were…

When Rob and I were in Colorado Springs, we had plans to ride the Cog Railway up to Pikes Peak. We were well aware of the risk of accidents that we even discussed do I need to speak to insurance after getting rear-ended. Drivers who will get injured in a road accident may seek the services of a car accident injury lawyer or an auto accident attorney to ensure that their rights and interests are protected. What you should know is that when it comes to seeking legal counsel, a car accident law firm will be better equipped to assist…

Yesterday we had a lovely Thanksgiving with family up in Moreland with my sis-in-law and family and brother-in-law. Rob’s Mom and Step Dad were in Texas so they weren’t there. We got there around 10 and got to catch some of the parade. Alex enjoyed cuddling with Maria’s dog, Sweetie. Sundae, Rob’s Mom’s dog, got some lovin’ too. I played with the youngest lil’ one. It was a balmy day, which made it great for cooking our turkey in the infrared oil-less turkey fryer and visiting out on the back deck. After watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade and hanging inside…

As I mentioned before Drew is in AU Cappella which is Auburn University’s all male acapella singing group. They do a concert every semester for the community as as well as singing for special events like the Brave’s games and other cool events. So last week was their Fall concert and Drew sang a solo to Michael Buble’s Just Haven’t Met You Yet. He did a lovely job and I was just so frickin’ proud of him and how confident he was during the entire concert. Here’s the AU Cappella Video of Drew singing his solo: Rob videoed the entire…

The 4th day on our exciting and jam-packed West Coast trip started off with a ride on cable car down to Fisherman’s Wharf. We had a fairly early ticket reservation for the ferry over to Alcatraz, so we got up early enough to catch a cable car and get some breakfast and walk around down at the wharf. We ended up just grabbing McDonald’s. Although, the bread at Boudin’s looked and smelled amazing. They weren’t open yet. Mural down at the Wharf when we got off the cable car. Love the sunflare from the morning sun.

So it doesn’t matter how many times doctors and nurses tell you something. Anytime the C word [Cancer] is involved it scares the absolute life out of you. I went for my annual gynecologist appointment back in September. The doc and I discussed my upcoming mammogram which was scheduled for mid October. Since it was going to be my first one, he warned me that often times they will call you back in for more tests for varying reasons. One reason is pre-menopausal women have dense breast tissue which makes it hard to see clearly. Another reason is that they…

We got up early, had a nice big breakfast at the hotel in Cocoa Beach, and drove over to Kennedy Space Center. Driving there we saw several gators and even a wild boar, which you see below. Such an impressive view. We got their before the gates opened, but were able to ask a few questions, take some picture, and just hung out until opening. Rocket Garden is one of the first things you see when you enter. This is the spot where old rockets seem to scrape the sky at 80-100 feet in the air. You will see Juno…

One of my all time favorite holiday recipes is this recipe that my Granny passed along to me, Praline Sweet Potatoes. So amazing. I was never a fan of sweet potatoes/yams until I tried this. I have people beg me every year to make this, so it is no doubt a must try! Servings: 10 large servings Prep Time: 5 minutes Cooking Time: 30 minutes Ingredients: 2 40oz cans of mashed sweet potatoes 3/4 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup margarine, melted dash of cinnamon Topping: 1/2 cup flour 1 cup chopped pecans 1/2…

We live about 35 miles from Columbus, Ga and we used to travel there quite a bit to shop and for different places to eat. However, now that the Auburn-Opelika area has grown so much we really don’t have a need to go there like we used to. This past Sunday Alex had a friendly soccer game there, and it was so last minute we ended up having to get people to substitute for several church obligations we had, so just ended up heading over to Columbus after we had breakfast. I suggested we park downtown and walk along the…

A couple weeks ago we celebrated Drew’s accomplishment of earning Eagle Scout. Rob and I really wanted to make it special, so we spent a great deal of time. I hope to write some posts about Eagle Scout Ceremony planning, etc. in the future. Planning this Eagle Court of Honor was much like planning a wedding, so many little details. Our day kinda went like this; 8am church, 9am went to Golden Corral for a big breakfast since we weren’t going to eat lunch, 10am head back home so guys could pick up uniforms and any last minute things we…

I’m always on the lookout for different variations of holiday desserts. I get bored with the normal pumpkin or pecan pie. This Praline Pumpkin Pecan Cake is a true crowd pleaser. Pecan Pie + Pumpkin Pie = this delicious dessert!
