In our corner of Alabama, my in-laws’ Fourth of July party is a biennial celebration complete with fireworks, laughter, and enough food to feed a marching band. But this year, we kicked things off the day before with a brand-new tradition: making the homemade ice cream ourselves. Usually, the churn duty falls to the seasoned pros in the family—but this time, we rolled up our sleeves and took the reins (and the rock salt). We arrived around noon, the house already buzzing with my nieces and nephews and some of their friends darting in and out. The charcuterie boards were…

Last Sunday was a great day for Auburn Basketball. Auburn was playing in Atlanta in NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament aka March Madness. Sunday was the Elite 8 game for Auburn against Michigan State. It was a great game. We were leading nearly the entire game. With that win, we play in the Final Four game on Saturday! After any Auburn win, Auburn fans head downtown to Toomer’s Corner to roll and party. We typically only go down there for big wins. Rob asked me if I wanted to and I decided it would be fun. They close the streets for…

Every year for the last few years, Rob and I and Rob’s brother, Nick, have taken Rob’s sister’s kids out for a fun day. Well, 5 out of the 8 (the school age ones). We started doing this in place of giving them “things”. Even though we live in the same town, they are running here and there practicing and playing Lacrosse and just living life with a large family, so just don’t get to see them much. We picked them up about 9:30am and headed to Atlanta. Since Atlanta is on Eastern time, we lose an hour when traveling…

Here we are for my post about Drew & Caitlyn’s 2nd Annual Halloween Party. This one was extra special because it was also their baby’s gender reveal! I’ll cut straight to the news we were all dying to know. The parents to be actually already knew, but shared with us in the cutest way. The party’s theme was “A Baby Is Brewing” Watch my video to see before scrolling down. The boys getting the fire going. Costumes Drew is the Holiday Armadillo and Caitlyn is Pregnant Rachel; both from different Friends episodes. Rob couldn’t make it to the party, as…

Recently, for our niece and nephew outing we went to Columbus, GA, which about 30-40 minutes from us. Our plan for this year was to go hang out in Columbus that afternoon, grab some dinner, and then go to a hockey game. First stop was the river walk near downtown. We enjoyed watching a couple guys kayak in the Chattahoochee And pretending they were kayaking! Dinner at Fazoli’s which everyone enjoyed except one. Columbus River Dragons Hockey Game Here’s last year outing with them>>>2022

4th of July this year was on a Tuesday and we all had to work on Monday, which was a total bummer. However, we made the best of it. Rob’s Mom and Step Dad threw a big shindig. Rob made Jambalaya over the fire the Drew made. Lots of homemade ice cream Caitlyn’s beautiful dessert creation just like her mom used to make. Gramma and the newest grandchild Drew and his newest cousin Lots of fun on the water slide. Fireworks in the front yard to end the day. More pics from the day here>>>4th of July 2023 How did…

Chocotafaula is an agritourism focused farm located in Auburn, AL that was founded in 2020. However, it just recently opened to the public for the wagon ride, petting zoo, and other fun! I highly recommend this for anyone that enjoys animals! Check out this post to learn more about it!

This year Rob and I decided instead of trying to buy our nieces and nephews stuff for Christmas, we’d go in with Rob’s brother and start taking them on an outing. We took a trip to Birmingham for the day. First stop was donuts in Childersburg that we ate in the car. Then, we got to McWane Center, which is a science museum and research archive located in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. The state-of-the-art hands-on science center, aquarium, and 250-seat IMAX Dome Theater is housed in the historic and refurbished Loveman’s department store building. If you’ve been around the blog a…

This year Thanksgiving was different. Rob’s mom and step dad went to Florida. Rob’s sister had all her in-laws at their house. With all that info, we just decided to do our own Thanksgiving at our house with just the boys and their dates, as well as Rob’s brother. I cooked all the sides and some things didn’t turn out as well as I would have liked, but it was a year of trying to make everything Gluten Free for Caitlyn and making some things these low carb for me. Nothing was uneditable. Thank goodness. Rob’s deep fried turkey was…

This past weekend Drew had planned a date day for he and Caitlyn. We ended up tagging along as we thought we were going to be doing some wedding stuff that day up in Atlanta, but ended up not having to. It was a surprise for me and Caitlyn. All we knew was dress comfy-cute, having brunch before the main ‘thing’ and just seeing where the day took us after that. Caitlyn chose Egg Harbor Cafe for brunch. There was a wait, but our food came out super fast and it was delicious. They have a good gluten free menu.…

This is a post I wrote on FB the morning I found out my Granny’s house had been listed for sale. I knew it was coming, so it wasn’t a complete shock. Granny is my Mom’s mom who passed away in 2015. My Granny’s house is for sale in North Richland Hills, TX. I’d love for a sweet family to make this their home and make wonderful memories like I did growing up. As I looked through the pictures of this empty house which can be sold on housereal.net, memories flood my brain. All the banana nut bread, chicken and…

Playing a little catch up as the last couple weeks have been busy. Here’s my post talk about our lovely Christmas weekend. Christmas Eve’s weather was beautiful. After a couple errands, Rob and I sat outside for a bit that afternoon while Christmas Eve dinner cooked. Kayleigh enjoyed it too. Christmas Eve dinner included Ham, Hash Brown Casserole, Green Beans, King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls , and salad with Romaine Lettuce, Slice apples, pecans, and raspberry vinaigrette. From there it was off to the Christmas Eve service, which is always so special. Rob was upstairs in the balcony doing media. Alex…

Last week was our coldest week so far this season. We survived and are thankful for a heated house! PICS & GOINGS ON I finished off this upgrade, I guess you could call it. These are Boy Scout popcorn tins that I have around the house that we use for little trashcans. I didn’t like the design on this one, so I painted it and put a ribbon with a chalkboard heart on it. We don’t really use the word rubbish around here, but I liked that word more than trash or garbage. Tuesday was our coldest day yet. Lows…

The other day I was thinking back through the last 11 weeks of ‘quarantine’ and all of the good that has come from this. Yes, there has been ups and down and scary times and unknown future for so many, I can’t dwell in the negative. My headspace needs to hover in positivity as much as possible. I believe it’s been. I have found so many blessings from having this time to slow down and just be. To enjoy family and enjoy doing these we don’t often take time to do. I want to remember this time so I’m sharing…

A couple weeks ago after watching church online, since we had everyone gathered around the TV in the living room, Rob brought up making a schedule for our family. Now each of us pretty much follow a daily schedule of our own to ensure we get things done, but when Rob and I stopped and thought about the weeks that had already gone by and the time that was ‘lost’ it made us realize we needed to do something. Now it wasn’t really lost, because I assume that we were all doing things we enjoyed whether it be together or…

We started off the month with a win in the Auburn vs. Alabama Game. Here’s Drew and Caitlyn at the game before they rushed the field with everyone else. Here’s Daisy when she was still out of it because they had to sedate her so they could do x-rays. She started limping on the backside around Thanksgiving. You can read about all that here. The next weekend we headed to Gatlinburg for a soccer tournament. Daisy…just so darn cute! Dang how I miss that face and her companionship. My Honda Pilot hit a milestone. Alex has been watching every time…

In early December we headed off to Gatlinburg for a soccer tournament. Follow your team’s journey with the detailed match reports by SportScore. Friday Friday we worked half a day and then went and check Alex out of school. Came home and loaded the car and picked up #5 to try and make it to Gatlinburg in time for their Christmas Parade. Our friends, the Farrows were there with their younger son, so we met up with them at the parade. Here I am with Julia. I loved that they had a car that looked like the one from Christmas…

Here I am playing catch up again. Instead of calling this the Weekly since it’s more than just a week’s worth, I’m calling it The Catchup Post. This is post is going to catch us up from my Summer Wrap Up post from around August through October. Sheesh! I will start back with my “The Weekly” posts next Monday and *fingers crossed* hope to keep those up through the end of the year! August We had one last hurrah before getting knee-deep back into school and all the activities that Fall brings. Weekend Trip to Mobile At work, we have…

I wanted to write a quick post and share some pics of Drew’s girlfriend, Caitlyn’s graduation weekend. The week before graduation Caitlyn and I went out and ended up doing 2 rounds of grad photos. Here’s a few of my favs… For Caitlyn’s party our friends were nice enough to let her have it at their lake house. We got there early so we could start making the noodles. When we offered to help her with food for the party, Rob asked her if she could have any food she wanted what would it be. She of course answered with…
