Today was Auburn’s Vet School Open House. It’s a free event for families to come see what goes on at the vet school, also used a recruiting tool for potential veterinary majors. We always enjoy it and learn a lot too! Here’s a few pics: Pony…oh how cute! Petting the bird Bomb dog demonstration I believe this is a Newfoundland watching the bomb dog demonstration. The last one we went to was in 2009, see pics of it here.

Friday we made a trip over to Lake Martin, so the boys in our den could get another requirement for the World Conservation Award, they’ve been working on. Our den leader, Mr. W., has a friend, Mr. M, who has a house on the lake. One of the things he enjoys doing to help the fish is dropping seasoned Christmas trees in the lake, which gives the little fish a safe haven from the bigger fish. So the boys got to help with this process, which is described below… Step 1: We did this step back right after Christmas. We…

It was time for the boys to get haircuts and Alex has been asking for a flat top for awhile. After having the ordeal, we had with had with Drew’s hair letting him get a flat top at age three…BIG mistake! He was a “poof head” for at least a year after that. Soooo, that has made reluctant to let Alex do it. Since he’s 8 and summer is knocking our door, we decided he could get one. So without further ado…

Last Sunday I took the day off and enjoyed the day with the family. We rose early to attend the 8 a.m. church service and then, got over to Montgomery for brunch. We really enjoyed eating at the Egg and I before galavanting over to Oak Park. We walked around the park for a bit. I took some pictures (no surprise there) and we found W.A. Gayle Planetarium. Since we still had some time before the planetarium show started we drove over to the River Walk, where I took more pictures as we walked down the river walk. We returned…

Back in 2009, Drew received his Arrow of Light and crossed over to Boy Scouts. This year for the ceremony, Drew got to be one of the Boy Scouts dressed up in regalia. He had a lot of fun being on the other side of the ceremony this year. Here’s some pictures from the evening. Here’s Drew You can see all the pictures from the evening here.

Drew had an all day soccer clinic in Atlanta this past Saturday. We decided to make the most out of it and go up as a family. It was on the campus of Oglethorp University, which is a beautiful campus. In between games we got to see a free baseball game there as well.

One of the greatest parts of my job is working with college students. They bring such joy and a different take on life. Their worlds are so different from mine and really most adults. I wonder sometimes if I was that naive…and I’m sure the answer is yes. 🙂 In my department, we employ students of all ethnicities, which is really cool. Many of the students come to the U.S. just to go to college. I can’t even imagine how hard that must be. My international students are great though. They are so eager to learn about American culture and…

I’m not sure I can even put my thoughts down in words, but I’m going to try. Yesterday afternoon Drew asked me to get on Facebook since I was at work and he was at home because he had something to talk to to me about. So I did and he proceeded to tell me in chat that one of his youth leaders at church had done something very bad. This youth leader, who I’ll call *Tom worked at a youth camp in another state last summer. Since then he’s come back here as this is his hometown, where he…

Oops! Almost forgot to finish up on this and get it posted. This month I was happy about: booking a cruise for the 4 of us in September!! Squeeeel! This month I was sad about: the passing of one of our cub scout leaders and the huge turn out at his funeral. The wonderful memories from February’s trip to the McWane center will have a bit of a dark lining in my memory because that was the last time I saw him. He had to leave just after getting there because he was not feeling well. I guess in many…

This month I was happy about: spending Easter with my family. This month I was sad about: this and not doing my weekly photo posts; not for the lack of taking pics, just unmotivated and unable to match prompts. Something I accomplished this month is: eating healthier and exercising. Something new I did was: visit Oglethorp University, while Drew attended a soccer clinic. Books I read were: From May to December (awesome book! one of my all time favs) Coney Detroit (makes ya hungry!) Beautiful Ambition (suffered through it) Uglies (got to p. 20 something and decided this book was…

I found a fun new “meme” on This Life is Sweet yesterday and decided it would be fun. Fill in the Blank Fridays originates from The Little Things We Do. 1. I am looking forward to our trip this weekend. More about that later! 2. Something kind of embarrassing that I still love anyway is how silly I get when I’m so tired I can hardly stand it. 3. My favorite car is a Red Beamer, like this one: 4. If I could pick one type of weather to live with for the rest of my life it would be…

Today I was able to mark off another of my goals in my 101 in 1001 list! It was also a very important one. Today I gave blood for the 1st time. Here’s the run down of the time frame for giving blood and sense it was my 1st doing it, I was extra cautious to make sure I did what they recommended before hand! 9:30 Started drinking my water 16 oz. 11:00 Ate lunch 11:25 Headed over to Campus 11:35 Walked to the Student Union 11:45 Signed in 11:50 Read the informational binder 12:00 Got called back to: Take…

Here’s a couple pics from Saturday and Sunday when we went camping. Our weekend started with Alex’s baseball game in Auburn at 9:30 am. We booked it out of there, back home to finish packing for our camping/soccer trip up in Birmingham. We had to have Drew on the field at 1:00. We made it with no issues and even had time to run through a drive-thru. After Drew’s victorious soccer game, we followed the Farrows to Oak Mountain State Park. Praying that they had a place for us tent camp, we were shocked to find out there was only…

Saturday We left Saturday morning at crack-o-dawn to head down to get Drew. Drew was in Orange Beach, AL for a soccer tourney. He had gone down earlier in the week since it was spring break to enjoy some time on the beach before his games began on Saturday. So that was about a 4 hour detour. We stayed for both games. Got to have some Shrimp Po-boys at the Shrimp Basket. We got out of town about 3ish. Spring Break traffic was horrific, so we ended up going a different way. We had planned to drive straight through, but…

1. Today is a good day because… I got to spend extra time with Rob. 2. The best thing I did all week was… I got to have lunch with my best bud. 3. The current weather is… chili and it makes me feel… cold. 4. The best thing about spring is… is the sites and sounds of new life; flowers blooming and birds singing. 5. A fashion trend that I’m dying to try out for spring is… fashion? What’s that? haha 6. A person who made me smile this week was… my best bud who I ate lunch with,…

Paula Deen: It Ain’t All About the Cookin’ In Paula Deen‘s book, It Ain’t All About the Cookin’, she holds nothing back. I adore her candidness. I’ll start off by warning you that if you think of Paula Deen as “a flawless southern woman,” then this book is not for you. She sugarcoats nothing, which I really appreciated. She starts off by dropping a ‘small’ bombshell and for those of you who may read it, I won’t ruin it for you. For me, it was something I had suspected from her, but really I shouldn’t let it bother me. A…

This week at Show Us your Life over at Kelly’s Korner is How You Met Your Husband week. I’ve written some pretty in depth posts about that you can start with here. I have most of the next post And baby makes three…(part V) started, but never finished it. Maybe I’ll finish that soon. Anyway, for this post I’m going to write an abbreviated version of these posts. I was a sophomore at Texas Tech and Rob was a sophomore at Auburn. We met on AOL, when it was just beginning to get popular. We chatted online every night and…

About a month ago, I was contacted by a representative from POM Wonderful about sending me some POM juice to try. Well, they sent me an 8 pack. I tried it and it is so yummy! It’s a very light, smooth juice, nothing thick or crunchy like other juices of tried. Not too sweet, not to sour. I can drink down the 8 oz. bottle in no time. The icing on the cake is that it’s healthy! It contains no added sugars or preservatives. Gluten free and full of potassium. Slightly sweet. Slightly tart. One sip and you’ll discover a…
