    End of a Soccer Era

    Now that soccer season is almost half over, it’s way passed due for me to talk about the end of an era. Back in the summer, Drew tried out for Auburn Thunder, elite soccer club that travels. He’s played with them since being invited back in 2008. He made the team, but with the way the teams shook out and the coach and just other circumstances with getting older, he decided not to play with Thunder this year. It really made me sad. It’s been a way of life for us all these years. The good part about it is…

    “Look at the Dog, Mom”

    Alex and I were driving somewhere today. There was car in front of us at the light. Alex noticed a dog in the passenger side. He pointed it out to me and at first, I saw the white shaggy dog type hair and started thinking, “Hmm…what kind of dog is that? Oh, I think it’s a Sheepdog.” However, the closer I looked at it the more it appeared to be someone just petting their own head. I was like, “Are you sure that’s a dog?” Alex looked closer and said, “Oh, well, maybe it’s not.” We both laughed and continued…

What was it how did you feel after you did it? With the my change in careers, I’ve had to step out of my comfort zone and do things out of my element.     Proverbs 31 Wife {Questions 6-10}

    Here’s my next set of questions. If you missed my first post, you can find it here. #6. How do you balance work and family? I’m not sure if I am balancing work and family. With my current job, I leave to go to work when my kids are coming home from school. To me that doesn’t seem “balanced,” but I don’t have another option right now. Share some tips that have worked for you. When I worked “normal” hours, I balanced family and work by using the time the kids weren’t there to get everything done, so that in…

    Proverbs 31 Wife {Questions 1-5}

    Sunday was my birthday and although, I had to work, we celebrated much of the weekend. We went to Olive Garden Saturday night. Sunday after church we we went to Cheeburger Cheeburger. Rob got me a couple of books that I had wanted. One of them was My So-Called Life as a Proverbs 31 Wife by Sara Horn. I just finished the book. This is really easy read, nothing earth shattering, but I’d never really taken the time to understand what Proverbs 31 says and Sara did a great job of illustrating how she came to try and live to…

    Game Day for Scouts

    Saturday was Scout Day at Auburn University’s football game, which means all Scouts and Scout leaders get in free! It was an 11:20 kick off which made for another early day. Rob is in charge of giving out tickets for the Boy Scouts, so we had to be on campus at 9am. We took the shuttle over and while we were waiting for our stuff to be set up, my friend, MJ, and I decided to go over to the Alumni tent. While I was there, I had someone come up and asked if I was “Magnolia Mom,” which was…

    Calgon take me away….

    As if it weren’t difficult enough coming back from a week long vacation. Getting back to reality after a week away is just down right hard. We’ve also had (one or more) furry little creatures inhabit our home while we were away. A water leak in the kitchen, which has now caused damage. To-do-lists piled up to our eyeballs. And now, I think I’m getting sick. So maybe I’m not asking Calgon to take me away, but I would ask God to give us the strength and wisdom to get through all this. And a day with no drama, would…

    Busy Football Friday

    Friday was a busy day. As much as I had hoped to get a lot of items marked off my to-do-list, it just didn’t happen. I spent about half a day at work. Fridays are not usually days that I work but it was our Open House. I was on the committee for that, so it was necessary for me to be there. I didn’t take a lot of pics, because I was busy working it. Here’s a collage with a couple shots. Friday evening I went to see Drew march at the football game. I went by myself because…

    Memories of the Month {9.2012}

    This month I was happy about: getting away from it all for a week. This month I was sad about: coming back to all and dealing with a water leak, water damage, and rodents who decided to inhabit our house while we were gone. Something I accomplished this month is: getting my water bill fixed after calling twice and having a water guy come out so I could prove that had messed up! Something new I did was: zipline in the jungles of Honduras. Books I read were: Wild at Heart by John Eldredge (couldn’t finish) Pecans: A Savor the…

    Crustaceans

    While discussing the fact we’ll get to eat lobster on the cruise, Drew says, “I’m not sure I like crustaceans!” I laughed for 5 minutes straight after that.

    So I never told you about the scooter….

    Yah, so I’m just a few months late getting this story up. Nothing too exciting really. I just needed pictures of the thing was the main hold back. A friend of ours was moving and hence, selling a bunch of stuff. One of the things they were getting rid of was this scooter. We thought of several reasons why we thought it might be good to get it. We took it for a test drive and bought it the next day. We don’t drive it on a regular basis now, but it is nice to have a 3rd form of…

    Back to School {2012}

    School finally started today! It was supposed to start 2 weeks ago, but just before school was out our state legislature decided to mandate schools to start later this year. For years they’ve been talking about forcing schools to start after Aug. 20th, because “it’s hurting our beach tourism.” Anyway, we were all happy for school to be back in session. I was real happy with the teacher that Alex got. Drew had Mrs. S for 3rd grade, so I was happy that Alex got her too! I think it’s going to be a great year. We had a good…

    Library Story #5

    Today at work a lady called in reference to her son’s bursar bill that had a fine for a book that was never turned in. She wanted to know what the title of the book was. Well with a specific question like that we get into the issue with privacy. I politely told her due to privacy reasons, I couldn’t answer any specific question such as that. My boss happened to be standing there and he joked saying that we could have all sorts of issues if we were to talk to parents about their kids’ accounts, like what if…
