Today we worked on Wolf Elective #13. We first went out and looked for birds. We were able to find a few birds. The boys had a hard time being quiet, which scared away the majority of the birds. After that we went inside and made the good ole standby activity; peanut butter pinecone bird feeders. Bonus: eating the peanut butter!

1. Something popular that I can’t stand/just don’t “get” is the whole Starbucks craze. I don’t like coffee and even if I did, spending $6 on a drink (that doesn’t contain alcohol) is just crazy! 2. Something unpopular that I secretly love is my Down comforter …. I don’t know if that’s unpopular or not … I couldn’t think of anything else. 3. When I’ve had a bad day I just try to chill out in front of the TV, or better yet, just going to sleep it off. 4. I’d prefer to be sleeping right now. 5. Something that…

There are so many things that I’m struck by that I want to write about, but the words just don’t come to me or if they do they don’t make any sense. This time, I don’t care. I’m just in complete disbelief that Steve Jobs, the founder and creative genius of Apple Computers has passed away. He always said, “if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.” He wrote is resignation letter on August. 24,…

I love living in a college town. Every weekend there is always something to do. We actually don’t take advantage of that fact enough, but I after a recent date with Rob to a UPC event it made me cognizant of the fact that I should be looking at the calendar to see what’s going on. So one night while looking I noticed that Diamond Rio was coming to town. For 5 bucks, I could go see this band that I’ve loved since high school. It was a great concert. I walked straight over to the Student Union right after…

…the new way of life for this household. I honestly can’t remember how much I’ve talked here about what’s been going on and on a normal day I would look back through my posts to see, but honestly…I’m too damn tired! *Did I just say that?* Anyway, I may not be writing here like I would like because I have no inspiration. I do find time at my evening job to read all my favorite blogs, one of which is still Rude Cactus, who I’ve read for years now. He wrote a thought provoking post about his daily schedule and…

We drove down the night before and spent the night at the Comfort Inn in Weeki Wachee. Got up the next morning and dropped Drew off with Rob’s Gramma and headed to the Pier. It’s always so exciting. Never gets old seeing those towering ships! Here’s Drew with his Uncle Nick at dinner the first night. It also never gets old enjoying all the food…”free” food! Remembering fine details of this trip have been a bit of a challenge, but I’ll do my best to recount this as accurately as I can. So we docked in Cozumel and had decided…

So last week was my 35th birthday. I was treated to cupcakes from Gigi’s Cupcakes in Auburn. Since I’m working more than I’m not, practically, we waited till the weekend to go out. We were up in Birmingham for soccer on Sunday, so I got to pick something different. I first thought about Chipotle, but when we went in, we were surprised to see it wasn’t a sit down restaurant. It’s an inexpensive, walk up, and order type place. Then we went over to The Summit, where I spotted Chuy’s. Oh, I adore that restaurant! Only been 1 time to…

For Kelly’s Show Us Your Life entry, I’m posting my kids’ pictures. I would at some point like to go through all my old pics and see if I can find pictures from my childhood Halloweens and scan them in. Maybe I’ll have that done by next Halloween… 2009 2008 – Didn’t get pictures! Alex was a giraffe again (I think) and Drew decided he was too old! 2007 2006 2005 2004 2003 2002 2001 School-made costume 2000 School-made costume 1999 – I’m not sure what happened this year. I can’t find pictures and I’m thinking I don’t have any.…

This mummy magnet is so easy, but still fun for kids of all ages. As a former teacher, I understand when you need a little something to fill time, whether it be in the classroom, at a party, or just at home one rainy afternoon. Having these few materials on hand, could be a life saver! It makes for a cute little magnet on the fridge to bring back those fun fall memories. Makes: 1 Making Time: 10-20 minutes depending on age Materials: Wooden ice cream spoon White glue 2 googly eyes 1 magnet (or instead of making a magnet…

I made these back in 2005 for Drew’s class at day care. They’re really cute, fun, and easy to make. Great little treat to send to school, have your family make for fun, or do with your class. Makes: 1 Scarecrow Materials: White glue 2 googly eyes 1 small box of Junior Mints 2 short Tootsie rolls 2 smarties stick packages or long Tootsie rolls 1 sucker (I used Tootsie Pops or Blow Pops) 1 three to four inch piece of Raffi 1 five to six inch piece of Raffi 1 permanent marker Instructions: 1. This year is the first year of decorated for fall in several years. I love decorating for fall. It’s nothing major or extravagant. I love mums and pumpkins, but you won’t see those this year due to lack of funds. We will carve a pumpkin, but haven’t done that yet. I also love pumpkin spice candles in the fall. MMmmmmm…. Most of my Fall/Halloween decorations were gifts from past students. I also used to love to go to Big Lots and find little knick-knacks too. I have some great ideas for Fall/Halloween decorations and recipes. I’m hoping to go next…

Writing Assignment: 3.) How did you parents choose your name? What does it mean? What would you change your name to if you could? (inspired by Mama’s Losin It) This writing assignment was difficult to choose. I could have written about almost all of them! I chose to write about my name. I don’t use my name on here too much. I’m going to put it here now, but since google is so smart I’m adding stars to trick google up! Lysha pronounced Lee-sha. My mom had actually decided to name me Miranda, but my Dad’s grandmother and my Mom…

SparkPeople by: SparkPeople Category: Healthcare & Fitness Released: February 2009 Size: 1.1 MB Spark People is an app to keep up with your fitness and healthcare goals. I’ve used sparkpeople.com for years and really like it. I think the app is even better. There are many different tools on the app, some of which include weight goal, daily food intake, daily fitness log, and useful charts. I would highly recommend this app and the website for anyone who is goal oriented eager to keep with food intake and setting goals.

My favorite team is Auburn. It’s not just a team I root for, it’s my alma mater. Auburn is now home and has been since I moved here in 1996. It’s great living in a college town. Although, we don’t “tailgate” much, we often meet up with other tailgaters or usually just hang out on campus before games. We enjoy the parades & pep rallies before the games. Drew posing with the homecoming floats (a few years ago). Before every game there is always lots of fun stuff for kids, like face painting. Tigerwalk is like nothing you’ve ever seen!…

Writing Assignment: 2.) Find your one very favorite picture of Summer and write a poem about it. (inspired by Mama’s Losin It) This is one of my favorite pictures from summer. Usually my fav pics do not include me, but I do love this one because of my great friend in it. Friends are something we often take for granted. Friends are people who are there no matter how bad life gets. They’re there to root you on when the going is good. They are not jealous of your accomplishments. They support you no matter what. They don’t turn their…

Last weekend we went to Gulfport, MS for a soccer tourney. We chose to stay at some condos across from the beach called Sienna on the Coast with some friends who have a son on the Drew’s team. We had a good time. Nice, clean, new condos with all the essentials. The beach is not really even worth calling a beach, but I did get some cool bird pics, which I’ll share later. We enjoyed cooking breakfast and eating lunch at the condo, not having to spend money of food. We did enjoy dinner with the team at Blow Fly…

I was looking on flickr at a couple Fall groups, which made me think of all the things I love about fall. I decided to start a list. Feel free to comment and add something about fall that you love, too 🙂 1. Candy Corn – not my fav candy, but I often buy them just so I can put them in a clear container for decoration. I guess I like the way they look more than the way they taste. 2. Fall Colors – orange, red, yellow, and brown 3. Cooler weather – It seems that in Alabama we…

Although I know I have tons of stuff to write about and play blog catch up, but I figured I’d quit writing about not writing. 🙂 And as time goes on I will try to catch you up on everything. Today Rob and the kids and I were planning to go to a pumpkin patch, but after some research, we realized it wasn’t open today. So we headed to the farmer’s market, where the kids picked out a large pumpkin and I took a couple of pictures, of course. I can’t believe how fast time is going by. It’s amazing…
