Friday, I went to Alex’s class for the Mom & Me Tea, well, there was lemonade. The class read a poem called, “I’m Trying So Hard” It was so sweet. I wished I would have videoed it! Here’s the poem: I’m trying so hard To be really good, And do all the things I know that I should. But, I’m just a kid, Mom, I’m messy and slow, I don’t eat my veggies, And I’ll clean my room, I know! And I don’t pick my toys up, And I don’t like my bath, I’m trying to learn my spelling, And…

This year the Friday before Valentine’s Day we had a lovely dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. Rob’s company paid for our dinner so we enjoyed a full 3 course meal. Here’s what we had: Appetizer: Wild West Shrimp Main Entres: White Cheddar & Bacon Stuffed Filet (me) Mashed Potatoes Mixed Green Salad Bacon Wrapped Filet (Rob) Seasoned French Fries Steakhouse Mac & Cheese Dessert: LongHorn Dessert Sampler It was an amazing dinner and we practically rolled out of there we were so full! In honor of Valentine’s Day, I’ve noticed many of my blogger friends have been linking up with From Mrs. to Mama. I decided to do it as well. Picture from each year we’ve been together. 🙂

1. Me! In 2011, I was proud to finally get a job, that I love. Going from a temp employee to part of the full time staff is great. You already know everyone. You know how to do the job. It only gets better from here! 2. I Love You I love my boys and Daisy. I also love the background in this photo: Auburn, Toomer’s Oaks, and the tradition being illustrated here. 3. Still Laughing… I know I’ve got some funny pics, but for some reason, I can’t seem to remember what they are. So I chose this one…

I am thankful for the opportunity to learn. My job offers free tuition for me at limited number of hours each semester. Although, I haven’t taken advantage of that. I have taken advantage of the professional development classes. I took my 2nd workshop today on Professional Ethics. A lot of it was common since, but we had a great discussion of the recent ethical issues at Penn State, among a list of other ethics issues in business, on other campuses, and even here at Auburn.

I am thankful I am able to help others through giving blood. Today was my 2nd time to give blood. It’s such a rewarding feeling…a little woozy, but still great to know I’m helping others.

Today I’m thankful my awesome group of student workers. I’ve found through my experiences in my new job, that I love working with college aged ‘kids.’ The students I work with are anywhere from 18-26 years old. We don’t limit what majors are allowed to work in our department, which is really cool because we have students’ majors vary: education, engineering (of all sorts), pre-med, anthropology, philosophy, history, public relations. We also have a diverse group. I learn so much from these guys and gals. Talking to these kids, I’ve learned so much about other countries, especially India. I enjoy…

I’m thankful for a wonderful church. My church is truly amazing. I’m amazed at: -the huge church family. -the great missions programs. -the active youth program and all that it offers from Sunday youth night to sweat week and so much more. -the wide variety of Sunday school classes. -our pastors that are so knowledgeable. -our food pantry that provides food to so many on a weekly basis. -the quality scout program and the scout center that they allow us to use. -the staff.

Today I’m thankful for my job. I love my job and even if I didn’t I’m thankful to finally have steady income after several year so of not having it. I love my job for many reasons… -an easy going, flexible, easy to work with, easy to talk to, boss (who hosts great parties) -great students who I get to work with and supervise -working at the university where I graduated from -great benefits -working in library is so much more than what most people would think (I’ll write a post about this later)

Today I’m thankful for our freedom. We get so wrapped in our daily lives that we don’t realize how lucky we are to: live where we want. do what we want. say what we want. It’s a luxury that is really taken for granted. I’m thankful for the soldiers that the risk their lives everyday and their families that sacrifice everyday.

Today I’m thankful for my friends. Today I had lunch with one of my “newer” friends and it was great. The more we’re together I realize, how alike we are in so many ways, and all the things we have in common. She’s someone I know I don’t have to act a certain way or do certain things to keep our friendship alive. Friendships are a 2 way street and we both give and take, which makes for a great relationship. I’m thankful for my “old” coworker friends, who I stay in touch with. We stay in contact through Facebook…

Today I am thankful for health insurance and the AU employee pharmacy. I am on the state retirement program again and although people gripe about it, we are truly blessed. $25 copay with great coverage. We also have really good drug insurance and what’s even better, Auburn University has their own pharmacy and all drugs are either $30 or free! AWESOME!! That is saving us a lot of money. I am thankful.

I’m going to do the 30 days of thankfulness challenge and they are in no particular order. I’m going to base what I’m thankful for according to my current life happenings. So today I’m thankful for my blog and the company that hosts it, Eleven2. The reason being, yesterday I was quickly trying to do something on here before I had to run out and get Alex from school. When I got back to the posts page in WordPress it showed NO POSTS! I had deleted every single post. 6 years of writing, 6 years of memories, 6 years of…

Today was my birthday and it was good. My day started off by having to go the Auburn Satellite Office to get my tags renewed. Nothing like waiting to the last minute, but I’ve never done it before and didn’t realize Rob would want me to do it this year. Anyway, being that it was the last day of the month it was PACKED. I was there for over an hour waiting in line. After that I decided to go home for a bit and pick up a few things and then go shopping, but after emailing Rob where I…

I’m just elated at my job and although many of my *new duties have not begun, I know this is where I belong. I’ve always been proud to say that I’m an Auburn Alum, but now I can say I’m an Auburn Employee! WAR EAGLE! *I was doing this job as a temp before being hired full-time.

…the new way of life for this household. I honestly can’t remember how much I’ve talked here about what’s been going on and on a normal day I would look back through my posts to see, but honestly…I’m too damn tired! *Did I just say that?* Anyway, I may not be writing here like I would like because I have no inspiration. I do find time at my evening job to read all my favorite blogs, one of which is still Rude Cactus, who I’ve read for years now. He wrote a thought provoking post about his daily schedule and…

So last week was my 35th birthday. I was treated to cupcakes from Gigi’s Cupcakes in Auburn. Since I’m working more than I’m not, practically, we waited till the weekend to go out. We were up in Birmingham for soccer on Sunday, so I got to pick something different. I first thought about Chipotle, but when we went in, we were surprised to see it wasn’t a sit down restaurant. It’s an inexpensive, walk up, and order type place. Then we went over to The Summit, where I spotted Chuy’s. Oh, I adore that restaurant! Only been 1 time to…

Writing Assignment: 3.) How did you parents choose your name? What does it mean? What would you change your name to if you could? (inspired by Mama’s Losin It) This writing assignment was difficult to choose. I could have written about almost all of them! I chose to write about my name. I don’t use my name on here too much. I’m going to put it here now, but since google is so smart I’m adding stars to trick google up! Lysha pronounced Lee-sha. My mom had actually decided to name me Miranda, but my Dad’s grandmother and my Mom…
