I can’t believe tomorrow is SEPTEMBER!! Can you? Summer always flies by, so I’m not sure why I’m always surprised. In this best of summer post, I’m sharing the highlights of the last 3 months. As I gathered up pictures, I realized this summer has been so busy. We’ve covered a lot of ground among the 4 of us. So here goes… June I started the summer by finding a penpal. You can read about that here. Our friend Julia invited us to the lake for some food and relaxation and the celebration of her birthday. Always such fun with…

Prom was a few weeks ago. The morning was busy with one Drew’s friend’s Eagle Courts of Honor and Alex had a soccer game luckily it was a home game. First thing that morning, I sent Drew out to Flowersmith’s to pick up the corsage and boutonniere. After all the hub-bub of the morning, we were able to get back to the house to finish prepping for the busy evening that awaited. Rob and I were asked by Drew’s group to host dinner. I had prepared the main dish, Stuffed Pasta Shells, the night before, so all I had to…

Christmas Eve day started off uneventful. Rob and Drew were out eating breakfast with Mr. Baird. I got up and ran to the mall for one last gift. It was absolutely monsooning outside. When I got home, I started wrapping presents and cleaning up for company that was coming over the next day. While wrapping presents with door shut in my bedroom, I heard Alex screaming for me to come here. He was down in the playroom. I figured it was a problem with an electronic device or some 1st world problem. However, when I got down there, I saw…

This past weekend was Homecoming. It was just Drew and me and home. Drew got dressed and we went over to the Baird’s house for pictures and then dinner. I prepared Buffalo Chicken Meatballs for an appetizer that I served with ranch, celery, and carrots. I’ll be posting that recipe soon. Anyway, I got lots of great pictures. The guys looking quite dapper. And lovely ladies… Drew & Caitlyn Kyle & Hannah Brannen & Lindsay The homecoming dance theme was Masquerade, so a few of the kids brought masks. We had lots of fun taking these pics. Two of these…

Over the Memorial Day weekend, we continued our tradition of going up to the lake with our friends. Last year they added boat riding and tubing to the fun. This year they got water skis. Drew tried water skiing a couple years ago with some other friends, but was limited to just a few tries, none of which were successful. He was anxious to try it again. Joe’s Dad, Ben, gave Drew some advise about what to do. However, Drew’s 1st attempt was short lived as you can see from this picture. The 2nd attempt was more of a success.…

Family Friday {At the Farm edition} A few weekends ago my family and I enjoyed part of our Saturday at our friend’s Tony farm. Most years we go and hang out with Mr. Tony. It’s always a fun-filled day. The guys work hard cutting up firewood to use in our fire places, but then are rewarded by getting to play, too! Caitlyn, Drew’s girlfriend came along too. She was not at all afraid to swing that maul. Mr. Tony’s has lots of pretty herding dogs. I love being out in the fresh air and Mr. Tony’s there’s always lots of…

Sunday, we had a great afternoon and evening visiting with our friends that came over. We’ve been talking with them about Rob’s recipe for homemade pasta called Cavatelli or Cavatels. Making cavatels is not a meal that an individual should make. For it’s way more fun to gather around and take turns cranking the cavatelli maker, watching the noodles fall from the machine.

The Friday before Memorial Day weekend, we loaded up the car, with the best camping gifts for a fun weekend of camping on the lake with the F@rrow Family. Among our essentials, we also brought along this Mini Katana for our camping adventure. Drew and his friend, Joe, who the 2nd eldest child of the F@rrow bunch, got to the lake early afternoon. When we arrived they had all of the tents set up. The big canopy tent for us to use for shade as well as the cooking area. Since we had some of the cooking gear with us,…

Today was another busy day. It started off with Rob and I going to a friend’s house for the Polar Plunge, which was a fundraiser for Special Olympics. Rob and I were not plungers. We were just sponsors, ie: observers. š Here’s a few pics from the event: You can see all my pics from the Polar Plunge here.

Over MLK weekend we went up to Blue Ridge, Ga with our friends the “S” family. We left Friday night after loading up the car. We arrived about 9ish, just in time to set up our air mattresses and hope in. Saturday morning we awoke to Mr. S cooking bacon. Rob got up and started cranking out waffles. After that we got dressed. The Drew went outside to see our dogs playing with the beautiful husky, Beckham, from up the hill who came to say hi. Once we packed the coolers for the day, we loaded up and headed to…

Saturday was Scout Day at Auburn University’s football game, which means all Scouts and Scout leaders get in free! It was an 11:20 kick off which made for another early day. Rob is in charge of giving out tickets for the Boy Scouts, so we had to be on campus at 9am. We took the shuttle over and while we were waiting for our stuff to be set up, my friend, MJ, and I decided to go over to the Alumni tent. While I was there, I had someone come up and asked if I was “Magnolia Mom,” which was…

A few weeks ago, we went to our friend’s 40th Birthday party. It was 80’s Themed. We scrounged around an hour before the party. I was lucky enough to come across my original New Kids on the Block shirt that was mine back when I was in Jr. high. Yes, I could still wear it, only because it used to be a night shirt! š Super cool party favors The birthday boy and his wife-y Me and my babe The Fab 4 Too cute! Loved the cake! Precious! Denim mini skirt…oh ya! Side pony tail christened with a large bow!…

Today started out like any other day. Kids up, back to bed, sleep, up for lunch, then off to work… As I was walking into work, a colleague of mine, John*, (who is also a good friend of the family) was leaving a bit earlier than usual. He informed me that he had to go get his son, Kevin*, who is also a friend of Drew’s, at Science Olympiad* practice. About an hour later, John called asking me if Iād seen Kevin. When I said no, he asked for me to go look around for him. John said that Kevin…

Today I’m thankful for my friends. Today I had lunch with one of my “newer” friends and it was great. The more we’re together I realize, how alike we are in so many ways, and all the things we have in common. She’s someone I know I don’t have to act a certain way or do certain things to keep our friendship alive. Friendships are a 2 way street and we both give and take, which makes for a great relationship. I’m thankful for my “old” coworker friends, who I stay in touch with. We stay in contact through Facebook…

Lake Martin is man-made; formed by the construction of Martin Dam on the Tallapoosa River. It spans across Alabama counties: Tallapoosa, Elmore and Coosa. A 44,000-acre lake with over 750 miles of beautifully wooded shoreline. Lake Martin is a great place to swim, boat, fish, water ski, and camp. It’s a great quick getaway for many Alabama residents, especially those in Auburn. Source With it only being about a 30 minute drive from our house, it makes for a great day trip. This year our friends invited us back to Lake Martin for a Memorial Day celebration. Some other friends…
