Like I said last week on Friday Favorites post, Rob has been making this recipe for years. And with us being home and me cooking nearly every night, I’ve been pretty religious with making a menu each week. That way when lunch and dinner roll around I’m not scrambling to figure something out. The fam had asked me to add this Chicken & Sausage Bowtie Pasta to the menu. I was happy to oblige and since this was my first time making Rob helped. Can you believe it? I’m actually posting a recipe. I think it has literally been years…

This last week, Rob and I took Thursday and Friday off because it was the end of the time when our work allowed us to take off without actually using vacation. We bounced the idea around of going up to the North Georgia Mountains and staying in a VRBO. However, there was something that just really made me hesitant, so we plan to do that later. Instead the fam treated me and allowed me to decide what I wanted to do…pretty much the entire long weekend! And if you know me, you know making decisions even the smallest ones bring…

This month I was happy about: for more family time and working from home. A time to slow down a bit and actually be forced to get stuff done that otherwise wouldn’t. Just making the best of the situation. This month I was sad about: the whole coronavirus is a complete downer. It’s so sad to see all those that are suffering and all those that have died from it. It’s constant on the news and on social media. This year I’m going to rate the books & movies. Here’s my rating system: ♥ ♥ = Love it! A must…

I can’t believe it’s mid October, but alas here is my 2019 Summer Wrap Up! Every year I enjoy looking back at everything we did over the summer and I thought I’d put one together for this year. I usually start these posts with the run down of May. I did my weekly summary posts up through June 22nd, so here’s the links for those. May 5-11 May 12-18 May 19-June 22 After the guys got back from Omaha, it was time to get Alex ready for Boy Scout Summer camp. They went up to Camp Rainey Mountain in Clayton,…

I wanted to write a quick post and share some pics of Drew’s girlfriend, Caitlyn’s graduation weekend. The week before graduation Caitlyn and I went out and ended up doing 2 rounds of grad photos. Here’s a few of my favs… For Caitlyn’s party our friends were nice enough to let her have it at their lake house. We got there early so we could start making the noodles. When we offered to help her with food for the party, Rob asked her if she could have any food she wanted what would it be. She of course answered with…

The boys were brave enough to get in the water. It was cold. 4: Mountain Laurel on Smith Mountain 5: We took a pic of my department since it was Employee Appreciation week. 6:…

Here is the last post for our time in Washington, DC. Metro ride to start off the morning. Riding the elevator inside the Metro station Walking from the Metro to the Air and Space Museum Long line at the Museum that Sunday morning, but it went fast. I really enjoyed going to this museum mainly because my Grandparents took me here when we did our DC trip. However, the boys weren’t huge fans of the place and if I would have thought of it sooner we would have left and gone to the National Museum of American History instead. Live…

Thanks to all everyone that came over from Amber I Am‘s blog! Her Southwestern Chicken Soup recipe has me ready to hop in the kitchen for sure! Is it cold where you are yet? Last week we finally felt the resemblance of fall weather here! Hallelujah! Although here in Alabama it basically goes from full on summer to full on winter, but regardless I’m happy for the change in temps. With that I’m ready for soups, stews, and chowders. This Chicken and Corn Chowder is one I made several years ago and I just love it and so did my…

Mountains, waterfalls, and serene views were calling our names for 4th of July this year. You may recall that we had an annual 4th of July mountain trip tradition going for a while (2010 2011 2012 2013), but we have done other things the last few years. Saturday We got up early Saturday morning, hit D Square donuts on our way out of town for a little sugar, and then got on the road. Our first planned stop was Tallulah Gorge, but we saw signs for great views at the Tallulah Point Overlook, which is basically a tourist trap. They…

You know I was thinking the other day when I was cooking some pasta about back when I was growing up. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you probably know, or you may not know, that my Dad’s parents raised me. Now my Granddad absolutely hung the moon for me. I was a Granddad’s girl for sure. I loved so many things about Granddad. One thing was that he enjoyed cooking and he was pretty darn good at it. However, Grandmother did not relish the act of cooking and probably for that very reason, wasn’t very good at…

In August, we got to experience something that not many never people get to see; a Total Solar Eclipse. We decided to make a weekend of it and head to North Georgia to a location where we were in the line of totality. We shared a VRBO cabin with Rob’s sister and her family. Saturday we drove up to North Georgia. After dropping our stuff off at the cabin, we drove around to scout out some places to watch the eclipse, ate dinner, and visited Rob’s old stomping grounds at Young Harris College. We also went to a planetarium show…

If you’re ever in Midtown Atlanta, the Historic Fourth Ward Park is a great place to checkout. This 17 acre park which is divided into 2 sections was built on the land where Ponce de Leon amusement park used to be. There are plans for this park to eventually total 30 acres. I found this park while looking for places to check out when I was in Atlanta with Rob and I needed something to do while he was in a conference all day. I was quite impressed with the beauty and design of the park. Watching the ducks and…

July To Do Recap –Get more comfortable with my Fujifilm INSTAX Mini 8 Instant Camera. – I didn’t do as much as I would have liked. One day after work, I pulled it out and walked around outside and in the house trying different things. Honestly, I’m super frustrated with it. –Start exercising 3 times a week before the end of the month. Nothing like waiting till the last minute, but the last week in July we worked out at AU Rec & Wellness 4 times that week. This past week we made it twice, but that averages out to…

Since I recently started penpalling (is that a word?), I had been on the lookout for a fun survey to send out. I couldn’t really find one that didn’t have silly stuff that kids would ask, so I decided to make an Adult Penpal Survey. I’ve enjoyed including this in my 1st or 2nd correspondence. I print 2 copies, one for me to fill out and send and another one that’s blank for my penpal to fill out and send back. Download it here: PDF Word (docx) If you would like to use the airmail border that I made click…

As I mentioned before since our days were so long (in a good way) but since we covered so much ground and so many amazingly beautiful places my daily travel posts aren’t including as much detail and as many pictures as I’d like. I want to write individual posts on many of the spots on this trip in more detail with more pictures. One day when I’m caught up, I’ll go back and share more. Today’s post covers our last full day of our west coast trip. We slept later that day than any other day on trip, which was…

So it doesn’t matter how many times doctors and nurses tell you something. Anytime the C word [Cancer] is involved it scares the absolute life out of you. I went for my annual gynecologist appointment back in September. The doc and I discussed my upcoming mammogram which was scheduled for mid October. Since it was going to be my first one, he warned me that often times they will call you back in for more tests for varying reasons. One reason is pre-menopausal women have dense breast tissue which makes it hard to see clearly. Another reason is that they…
