Dumped out our stockings Took our typical pictures before opening gifts Let Daisy open her gift. Here’s a little video of her tearing into her package A little downward dog action Alex is ready to open gifts! Of course, after opening her gift Daisy thought all the gifts were for her. Rome, Georgia

    On our way up to LaFayette, Georgia for our 4th of July trip we stopped in Rome, Georgia for lunch. Downtown Rome is really a quaint little place with lots of cute stores and restaurants. A friend of Rob’s recommended a couple places to eat. We ended up at Schroeder’s Deli. We had Calzones and pizza and fried okra. We noticed a park when were walking to the restaurant from down the street where we had parked. After lunch, we got Daisy out of the car and brought over to Heritage Park to let her run around and use the…

    Newest Member of the Family

    Family Friday {New Pet Edition} For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you know about the newest addition to the family. Yes, I think hell has frozen over, because our newest family member is a cat. Rob has never been a huge fan of cats. When this cat started hanging out around the house, he actually entertained the idea of keeping it. We got her spayed the week before Christmas, which ended up becoming a nightmare. To sum it up, she ripped the sutures out. We had to take her back to the vet and they put staples…

    Christmas 2014

    Family Friday {Christmas edition} Christmas came and went so fast. We enjoyed our normal breakfast of apple dumplins and sausage balls. Opened gifts and then, Rob started preparing our Christmas dinner of homemade meatballs, sauce, and pasta. We had a scaled down Christmas and I was happy that everyone was just as happy. Drew got a new phone. Alex got a bike. Rob got a toolbox and I got a Fitbit. Daisy is all over Christmas. She opened her own gifts and then proceeded to try and help all of us open ours. We enjoyed a lovely dinner with Rob’s…

    Must Sees in Piedmont Park Atlanta, GA

    A few months ago, Rob and I were in Atlanta for a few days. He was at a work conference so I was on my own during the day. I was excited that we were staying in Midtown, because I knew I wasn’t far from Piedmont Park. Piedmont Park Atlanta, GA is the Central Park of Atlanta; just not nearly as big, it’s still a really cool place. It’s nestled just a couple miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. The park runs along 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue in Midtown Atlanta. 5 Things to See at Piedmont Park Atlanta, GA One…

    Forth July 4th Trip 2013::Gatlinburg, TN {Day 5}

    Chalet ~ Day 1 ~ Day 2 ~ Day 3 ~ Day 4 Sunday we had to rise early and get packed and clean up the chalet before the 11am check out time. We were just in the nick of time and headed out on our last day of adventures. One of the things we had wanted to do on our trip was go to Cherokee, NC, but we decided to wait until on our way home to cut down on driving time since it’s in the direction of home. Cherokee is about an hour away from Gatlinburg, but it’s…

    Forth July 4th Trip 2013::Gatlinburg, TN {Day 2}

    Chalet ~ Day 1 ~ Day 3 ~ Day 4 ~ Day 5 On the 4th of July, we slept in a bit, which was much needed since stayed up till nearly 2am the night before. We enjoyed waffles for breakfast, while discussing the plans for the day. We loaded up the car and went to Laurel Falls for a little hike. Before heading out on the trail, we noticed a sign that said “No Pets Allowed.” This was not a good start, since we had brought Daisy along for the adventure. Grandpa said he’d sit back with her, since…

    Missing my boy…

    Dear Drew, Man, you’ve been gone just over 2 weeks now. I’ve missed you like crazy! It was kinda funny, the Thursday before you left, that evening, I was missing you already and you hadn’t even left yet. Before I left that afternoon to go to work, you and I laid across the bed and looked different pics and videos about Philmont. It’s little memories like that that are so special. Thursday evening during my dinner break, Dad asked you if you were homesick and you said yes, I just laughed knowing the tinge I was feeling in the pit…

    Memories of the Month {5.2013}

    This month I was happy about: Drew being elected to be the Senior Patrol of his troop as well as finding out Drew’s iPod was recovered and that we got it back. This month I was sad about: not much of anything, except maybe realizing how fast my kids are growing up. Something I accomplished this month was: getting through the end of the school year stuff. Something new I did was: helped a friend start a new blog. This year I’m going to rate the books & movies. Here’s my rating system: ♥ ♥ = Love it! A must…

    January’s End of the Month Summary {2013}

    This month I was happy about: getting to spend time with friends. This month I was sad worried sick about: my top teeth that are having issues because I grind and clinch when I sleep. Something I accomplished this month was: surviving. Something new I did was: go see an oral surgeon to make sure there was not a cyst on my top gums. The verdict was no, but he recommended I get my wisdom teeth out sometime soon. Luckily, I only have top ones! I’m going to wait and see what pans out with my initial issue mentioned above.…

    MLK Weekend in the Mountains with Friends

    Over MLK weekend we went up to Blue Ridge, Ga with our friends the “S” family. We left Friday night after loading up the car. The Drew went outside to see our dogs playing with the beautiful husky, Beckham, from up the hill who came to say hi. Once we packed the coolers for the day, we loaded up and headed to…

    Fun times in the North Georgia Mountains

    Sunday we headed out to the Track Rock Gap Archaeological Area to see petroglyphs made by Native Americans. Most of them were so weather-warn you could hardly make out the shapes, but I just stood there closed my eyes and imagined the Natives pounding away at the rocks to make those carvings. Amazing! We left there and drove over to the John C. Campbell Folk School, which is a school that allows a non-competitive, adult learning community offering classes in art, cooking, craft, dance, gardening, music, etc. that vary in length.

Soon after, we threw on our swimsuits and hiking boots and headed to Helton Creek Falls Daisy usually travels in a travel crate, but with 8 people in the Pilot, there’s was no room for her crate. All the pics shown on this post are of the upper falls at Helton Creek. On the way back to the cabin for lunch. Quick dip in the hottub. After lunch, several of us decided to hike at Dukes Creek Falls.…

    Life Happenings – May 2012

    -Drew washed his cell phone in the washer. There was a loud banging noise after I started up the dryer, so I stopped it to see what was in there. In case this happens on your washer, better have it checked by an expert in washer and dryer repair. I was happy it wasn’t an ink pen, but was really sad to see it was his phone. We haven’t tried the rice trick yet, because I don’t have any plain rice to put it in. We just have it sitting out with the battery separated from the phone. So we’ll…
