    40 by 40 {a list}

    Yesterday was a big birthday for me. I’ve entered my last year in my 30’s. **cringe!** My 40th birthday is in spitting distance. 🙁 So I decided to make a list of 40 things to accomplish this year. I plan to mark them off my list as I do them and may even write blog posts about many of them. So here they are…

    Memories of the Month {9.2014}

    This month I was happy about: Drew having a date for homecoming. This month I was sad because of: my Granny is really sick. Something I accomplished this month was: almost done with Soccer League pictures. Just got to get them packaged up and delivered.

    Dad’s Birthday

    Today is my Dad’s 62nd birthday. Although, he is not on Earth to celebrate it, I know he is cycling pain and care free in Heaven, then finishing up the day with a few beers. I may drink a couple myself for you, Dad. Cheers! In the mean time, I’ll be looking through pictures, enjoying the memories. Dad’s (Short) Journey with ALS

    Fall Bucket List 2014

    Fall is my favorite season, so I’m so happy that it’s finally official! I’ve enjoyed getting inspiration from boards on pinterest and bloggers sharing their fall bucket lists, like the one from Adventure Mom and Love of Life . Kids Activities blog also had a great list of things to do with family during the fall. I made a list of all the great things that I try to do every fall. So here’s my Fall Bucket List 2014. What’s on your list to do this fall?

    Acolyting at Church

    At the end of the summer, Alex went to acolyte training at church. A few weeks ago, he and all the new acolytes were installed and recognized. He received his cross.

    Labor Day at the Braves

    Today I’m sharing about our day at Turner Field watching our beloved Braves play. On Labor Day this year, we went to the Braves Game. It was a blistering hot day, but we managed to enjoy ourselves even though the Braves lost to the Phillies. We found our seats, which were great by the way. Then, we got up to go see if we were early enough to see the pep rally that they do out on the concourse.

    Library Story #9

    This is a post that never got published from about year ago.  This was an email I sent to my 2 bosses to let them what happened one evening at the Circulation Desk. Had a weird occurrence this evening, but wasn’t sure if it warranted an “incident report.”

    10 Tips for Long Distance Relationships

    I’ve read several blogs lately of people who are in long distance relationships. It got me thinking back to the relationships that I was in back in college that were long distance. I am happy to say that the last long distance relationship I was in ended up in marriage! 🙂 17 years strong! I thought I’d write a post about somethings that can make being a part a little easier as well as keeping each of you in check. I’ll have to preface this by saying that I am a bit envious, as the internet was in it’s infancy…

    He Didn’t Procrastinate… {Homecoming}

    Yes, there was a time when my teenage son did not procrastinate. School started and some of my friends who have kids in high school, reminded me that homecoming this year is early. They mentioned that they were urging their sons to figure out who they were going to ask and go ahead and git er done (as we say in the South.)

    Happy Anniversary! {17 Years}

    Happy Anniversary, Rob! Today Rob and I are celebrating 17 years of marital bliss! I couldn’t be happier to have spent this time with him through all the trials and tribulations that life brings. I know that we together work to keep a strong relationship with our Lord and Savior and in that we grow closer together as a couple. I love you, Rob and I look forward to seeing what the next 17 years has in store for us. 😉

    letter to dad #1

    Dear Dad, Dad, I know you’re watching from Heavens above. That brings me comfort. Today I am home by myself getting some work done, 80’s music blaring in the back ground. You know 80’s music is by far my favorite music of all time. Now that you’re gone, though, sometimes it’s hard to listen to certain songs without just tearing up. And well sometimes just absolutely breaking down into tears like today. Memories of spending weekends with you, running errands, watching you talk on your bag phone back when having a bag phone was cool. I mean a “cell” phone…

    Memories of the Month {8.2014}

    Here’s the end of the month summary for August. Where has this year gone? This month I was happy about: meh…I’m kind of indifferent to this question. Nothing really stood out to me for what I was happy about. This month I was sad because of: the kids going back to school. Something I accomplished this month was: …uhhh…don’t feel like I accomplished anything!

    Life Lately #9…

    It’s been over a month since I’ve done a “Life Lately” post. Ahh! Where did the time go? Did not realize it had been so long. So for this one, I’ll try to recap as much as I can remember from the last month.

    10 Things To Know about ALS

    I know y’all have all seen the ALS Bucket Challenge. Many of you probably participated in it and I’m so grateful. I’m grateful that something so silly as dumping ice water on your head is what leads to the awareness of one of the most horrible diseases out there. I am thankful for so many people giving money. Can you believe as of yesterday $41.8 Million has been raised? That is something to be thankful for. I’m hopeful that this will get researchers closer to a cure.

    Do’s & Don’ts of Giving Blood

    Yeah, there is a story to be told here. Last week Rob decided he would pay it forward by giving blood. The blood mobile was parked in the parking lot at his work, so around 3:30 he walked over to generously let them extract a pint of blood from his arm. After giving blood, he got up to leave, hopped out of the bus and started not feeling so good. So he sat on the curb and moments later, passed out and had a seizure. After coming to, he started feeling nauseous and you all know how that ends up.…

    Saying Goodbye to Summertime…

    As usual the summer blew by in a heartbeat and here I am, just sad that it’s over. I’m not super excited about the kids going back to school and starting their millions of extracurricular activities. All this means that quiet evenings at home are no longer. I have really enjoyed those this summer…a lot! However, life must go on and school starts Monday, so with that I thought I’d share some pics from a few activities that I never got around to posting. So happy to have a cousin reunion, even it was just a quick visit. Fun times…

    Sharing Food and Fun with Friends

    Sunday, we had a great afternoon and evening visiting with our friends that came over. We’ve been talking with them about Rob’s recipe for homemade pasta called Cavatelli or Cavatels. Making cavatels is not a meal that an individual should make. For it’s way more fun to gather around and take turns cranking the cavatelli maker, watching the noodles fall from the machine.
