Friday we got up, had a quick breakfast, and headed out to see if we could get any fish to bite. Since we needed to find out a good place to fish and get some bait, so we stopped at Paradise Bait and Tackle. We saw signs for it as we drove toward the river. Turned out to be a little building on someone’s property. My MIL had to use to restroom, so the man called up his Mama and asked, “are you dressed? cuz I gots a young lady customer who needs to use the facilities.” There were several…

Atlanta Braves Welcome Legends of the Game for Third Annual Alumni Weekend Alumni Softball Game (1992 Braves vs. Braves Alumni) So cool I got this shot. Here you see Mark Wohlers running from 1st to 2nd base. He had actually just batted the ball back with his hand. So funny! Between the softball game and the actual baseball game, they had a ceremony to commemorate Sid Breams’ Slide.

Day 2 started with some homemade waffles and jambalaya quiche and some web surfing while surrounded in the beauty of the mountains. Soon after, we threw on our swimsuits and hiking boots and headed to Helton Creek Falls Daisy usually travels in a travel crate, but with 8 people in the Pilot, there’s was no room for her crate. All the pics shown on this post are of the upper falls at Helton Creek. On the way back to the cabin for lunch. Quick dip in the hottub. After lunch, several of us decided to hike at Dukes Creek Falls.…

Our first day in the mountains, we were busy unpacking, grocery shopping, and enjoying the 4th of July festivities. Here we are making fools of ourselves enjoying ourselves at the festivities at Vogel State Park. Dizzy fun! After our equilibrium returned, we enjoyed some egg tossin’ and some balloon throwin’! The greased pole competition was fun to watch. None of us participated in that. We made a stop on our way back to the cabin at Booger Hollow for a couple odds and ends. Chatting on the deck while enjoying the beautiful scenery. My little Ham anxiously awaiting burgers for…

Here’s the cabin, we stayed in for the 4th of July trip this year. It was hands down the nicest and biggest cabin we’ve stayed in. It’s a 3 bedroom 3 1/2 bath with a large playroom on the bottom floor complete with games, foosball, and air hockey. Sleeps 9-10. It’s located in Blairsville, Georgia, which is just the location we’ve been trying to stay in since we started this tradition. The views from the cabin are amazing, but I’ll warn you that when you turn on the the street where the cabin is located it’s extremely steep; To say…

Just an FYI…Scripture Picture will be taking a break for awhile after this week. You are my hiding place; you will save me from trouble. I sing aloud of your salvation, because you protect me. ~Psalms 32:7 I love photography and love the Bible. What’s better than putting the 2 things together, right? So link up and spread the Word. 🙂 Here’s what you do to join the fun… ~ Take a picture that you like. ~ Find a scripture that you think goes well with it. Or visa versa ~ Add the scripture to the picture using the text…

Warm Fuzzies A tall, tough looking guy walks up to the desk with a pile of big books. He places them on the desk and as he does so I see the forehead, eyes, and nose of a little girl as she peeks over the top of the desk trying to see. The little girl looks up to her daddy and whispers something. He looks down admiringly and tell his daughter that they have to check the books out before they can take them home. There’s something so endearing about seeing a father bringing his children, especially his little girl,…

Will you never look away from me, or let me alone even for an instant? ~Job 7:19 I love photography and love the Bible. What’s better than putting the 2 things together, right? A few weeks ago, we were traveling somewhere and Alex was “playing a game” with Drew, where he would hide the folded-up straw wrapper and Drew would have to guess where it was. Alex had a brilliant place to put it. See the pic below. I wasn’t aware of what was going on in the back seat, but at some point, I turned around and realized Alex didn’t have his seat belt on. As any good mom would do, I told him to put the seat belt on immediately. So he attempted to, but couldn’t because he has forgotten he…

This year Drew decided to attend a different Boy Scout camp. Since his troop is so large they usually have 2 different groups go to 2 different camps. The last several years he’s gone up to North Carolina to Camp Daniel Boone, but this year he opted to stay in his home state of Alabama, and attend Camp Sequoyah. His troop leaders are quite tech savy and for this summer’s camp outs, began blogging and posting pics through the weeks of camp. Well, I couldn’t have been any happier to find updates about what Drew had done each day along…

1. My favorite color is red. Yah, I used to where it all the time. Red and black, which worked out great when I was at a student at Texas Tech and that was our school colors. Now living in Auburn, the colors I sport mostly are orange and blue and I love them, but I do miss wearing red. Red doens’t go over very well here though. 2. My travel destination of choice is somewhere tropical via cruise ship. 3. My favorite food is Mexican. No doubt, I would eat it everyday if I could. 4. My happy place…

Drew got his braces today! He just got the top set today along with ‘stuff’ on the bottom teeth (which you can’t see unless he opens his mouth) so that his mouth can’t close all the way, which allows room for the adjustments to take place. Dr. T says that he’s trying to correct the crossbite before putting on the bottom braces. Drew will either get the bottom braces put on in September when we go back or possibly the appointment after that. Braces Timeline June 27 – Consult July 18 – Impressions & more X-rays July 25 – Got…

For the Cub Scouts Summer Trip, we went to Lake Winfield Scott. It’s about 85 north of Atlanta in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. It was a really great place to camp regardless of age. Hiking trails, swimming, canoeing, fishing, and lots of wild life lurking in the woods. Camp is set up. The boys playing on the ‘beach’ at Lake Winfield Scott. Really cool mushroom.

{one} what is your dream job? Ugh. Right now a home executive would be great! Later, when my kids are grown up something with traveling would be awesome, but I pretty much love my job now. No complaints! {two} how many best friends do you have? I don’t know that I have any “best friends.” The one person I would consider my BFF lives out of town and we don’t keep in touch like we should. {three} what’s the longest road trip you’ve ever taken? Lubbock, Tx to Auburn, AL. Although, we stopped several times. {four} if you had to…

If you missed Day 1 of our trip read here. Day 2 of our trip to the North Georgia Mountains was filled with seeing the train leave, a “Farmer’s Market,” walking around Downtown Blue Ridge, a parade, visiting Mercier’s Orchards, lots of good food, and hanging out around the cabin. Blue Ridge Scenic Railway The gang walking to the downtown area from our free parking spots. 🙂 Abby doesn’t like that she has to look into the sun to take pics. It’s just ridiculous that I take so many dang pictures that I can’t get my post up for the trip we took over the 4th, so I decided to break it down into days. Here’s the first day of our trip, which included driving up to Blue Ridge, getting the keys to the cabin, eating dinner, going grocery shopping, and preparation of some of the meals for the weekend. Here‘s where we stopped to let Daisy out and it had a scenic view. Circular brick walk way And here’s the front of our cabin, our home for a few days!…

If you missed Day 1 or Day 2. Sunday we started by hiking up to the highest point in Georgia at Brasstown Bald. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and then decided to go find the Swinging Bridge which crosses over the Toccoa River. This was a very cool, very hidden spot. Great place to camp, swim, tube, kayak, etc! For dinner we ate at Papa’s Pizza-to-Go Buffet, which had hot, high quality pizza. Then, we did something we have never done before and that’s go to a drive-in movie. The one we went to was in Blue Ridge and it’s…

If you missed Day 1 or Day 2 or Day 3 Day 4 which happened to be the 4th of July was another great day in the mountains. We started the day by driving over to McCaysville, GA, which is a little town on the Georgia/Tennessee line. It’s bordered by Copperhill, TN. McCaysville is so cute, just a lovely little town with cute shops and eateries. So bummed I didn’t get to try the fried Oreos. They weren’t quite open yet. Next we drove over to the Ocoee Whitewater Center, which is the Slalom site of the 1996 Olympics. On…
