    Reason #1,670 that I love living in Auburn

    I just love living in Auburn. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We are so lucky to live here for so many reasons. When we’re visiting other towns and they have city events like this and they charge, I just feel so thankful that every spring I know we can go just down the road and enjoy a day of free fun and entertainment. Live music, other live entertainment, bouncy houses for the kids, lots of free stuff, art vendors, yummy food. It’s great! This year the boy scouts had a booth, which I talked about here.…

    ScoutFest at City Fest {2012}

    This year Rob was in charge of the Scout booth at Auburn City Fest. It was the first year to do this and I think it was great. He and other scout leaders are constantly looking for ways to promote scouting and they came up with having an area in the Child’s Imagination Station are of City Fest this year. The Monkey Bridge was quite a hit Boys got to earn a ticket that they could take to an upcoming Pack meeting and turn in for a belt loop when they join Cub Scouts! See a few more pics here.

    Scripture Picture {Isaiah 61:11}

    I love photography and love the Bible. What’s better than putting the 2 things together, right? So link up and spread the Word. 🙂 Here’s what you do to join the fun… ~ Take a picture that you like. ~ Find a scripture that you think goes well with it. Or visa versa ~ Add the scripture to the picture using the text feature on photoshop, picmonkey, aviary, or any photo editor that allows text. If you don’t want to do that, you can just put the scripture in the post. ~ Put the Scripture Picture button in your post…

    Friday Letters

    Dear txting student, I know you must have some pressing information to pass along in the form of a txt, but why don’t you wait till you have finished crossing the street? Thanks much! Someone who would like to NOT run you over Dear leftover Easter candy (specifically chocolate), Why must you call my name so loudly from the depths of the pantry? I’m thinking if I hurry up and devour all of you, then I don’t have to resist you any longer. And that way you won’t be taking up that space in the pantry any more….ha ha! Your…

    Den Meeting at the Lake {Conservation Project}

    Friday we made a trip over to Lake Martin, so the boys in our den could get another requirement for the World Conservation Award, they’ve been working on. Our den leader, Mr. W., has a friend, Mr. M, who has a house on the lake. One of the things he enjoys doing to help the fish is dropping seasoned Christmas trees in the lake, which gives the little fish a safe haven from the bigger fish. So the boys got to help with this process, which is described below… Step 1: We did this step back right after Christmas. We…

    Alex’s New Hair

    It was time for the boys to get haircuts and Alex has been asking for a flat top for awhile. After having the ordeal, we had with had with Drew’s hair letting him get a flat top at age three…BIG mistake! He was a “poof head” for at least a year after that. Soooo, that has made reluctant to let Alex do it. Since he’s 8 and summer is knocking our door, we decided he could get one. So without further ado…

    Easter Sunday 2012

    Last Sunday I took the day off and enjoyed the day with the family. We rose early to attend the 8 a.m. church service and then, got over to Montgomery for brunch. We really enjoyed eating at the Egg and I before galavanting over to Oak Park. We walked around the park for a bit. I took some pictures (no surprise there) and we found W.A. Gayle Planetarium. Since we still had some time before the planetarium show started we drove over to the River Walk, where I took more pictures as we walked down the river walk. We returned…

    Drew had an all day soccer clinic in Atlanta this past Saturday. We decided to make the most out of it and go up as a family. It was on the campus of Oglethorp University, which is a beautiful campus. In between games we got to see a free baseball game there as well.

    Library Stories #3

    One of the greatest parts of my job is working with college students. They bring such joy and a different take on life. Their worlds are so different from mine and really most adults. I wonder sometimes if I was that naive…and I’m sure the answer is yes. 🙂 In my department, we employ students of all ethnicities, which is really cool. Many of the students come to the U.S. just to go to college. I can’t even imagine how hard that must be. My international students are great though. They are so eager to learn about American culture and…

    don’t even know what to title this………

    I’m not sure I can even put my thoughts down in words, but I’m going to try. Yesterday afternoon Drew asked me to get on Facebook since I was at work and he was at home because he had something to talk to to me about. So I did and he proceeded to tell me in chat that one of his youth leaders at church had done something very bad. This youth leader, who I’ll call *Tom worked at a youth camp in another state last summer. Since then he’s come back here as this is his hometown, where he…

    Memories of the Month {3.2012}

    Oops! Almost forgot to finish up on this and get it posted. This month I was happy about: booking a cruise for the 4 of us in September!! Squeeeel! This month I was sad about: the passing of one of our cub scout leaders and the huge turn out at his funeral. The wonderful memories from February’s trip to the McWane center will have a bit of a dark lining in my memory because that was the last time I saw him. He had to leave just after getting there because he was not feeling well. I guess in many…

    Memories of the Month {4.2012}

    This month I was happy about: spending Easter with my family. This month I was sad about: this and not doing my weekly photo posts; not for the lack of taking pics, just unmotivated and unable to match prompts. Something I accomplished this month is: eating healthier and exercising. Something new I did was: visit Oglethorp University, while Drew attended a soccer clinic. Books I read were: From May to December (awesome book! one of my all time favs) Coney Detroit (makes ya hungry!) Beautiful Ambition (suffered through it) Uglies (got to p. 20 something and decided this book was…
