This year Thanksgiving was different. Rob’s mom and step dad went to Florida. Rob’s sister had all her in-laws at their house. With all that info, we just decided to do our own Thanksgiving at our house with just the boys and their dates, as well as Rob’s brother. I cooked all the sides and some things didn’t turn out as well as I would have liked, but it was a year of trying to make everything Gluten Free for Caitlyn and making some things these low carb for me. Nothing was uneditable. Thank goodness. Rob’s deep fried turkey was…

Yesterday we had a lovely Thanksgiving with family up in Moreland with my sis-in-law and family and brother-in-law. Rob’s Mom and Step Dad were in Texas so they weren’t there. We got there around 10 and got to catch some of the parade. Alex enjoyed cuddling with Maria’s dog, Sweetie. Sundae, Rob’s Mom’s dog, got some lovin’ too. I played with the youngest lil’ one. It was a balmy day, which made it great for cooking our turkey in the infrared oil-less turkey fryer and visiting out on the back deck. After watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade and hanging inside…

Do you have your Christmas meal planned out? Still looking for that perfect dressing? This Apple Cornbread Dressing is so flavorful. My favorite thing about it is that it never gets dry. The apple juice and butter keep it nice and moist. Servings: 10 Prep Time: 20 minutes Cooking Time: 35 minutes Ingredients: 1 (9×9 inch) pan cornbread, cooled and crumbled 1 (8 ounce) package herb-seasoned dry bread stuffing mix 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1/2 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup butter 1 cup chopped celery 1 cup chopped onion 2 cups chopped apples 1/2 cup chopped…

After Rob and I got home Monday, we had a quick turn around to get ready to hop in the car and drive 7 hours down to Tampa for Thanksgiving. We had originally thought we’d stop part of the way and get a hotel, but we ended up driving all the way. We got in around 2am. Wednesday we hung out with Grandma, Grandpa, and Cousin Tara. We had lunch at a yummy restaurant and then, went to Linda’s house to see her farm. Thanksgiving Day we didn’t have the traditional turkey and dressing. We instead had homemade pasta. Before…

Last Sunday I took the day off and enjoyed the day with the family. We rose early to attend the 8 a.m. church service and then, got over to Montgomery for brunch. We really enjoyed eating at the Egg and I before galavanting over to Oak Park. We walked around the park for a bit. I took some pictures (no surprise there) and we found W.A. Gayle Planetarium. Since we still had some time before the planetarium show started we drove over to the River Walk, where I took more pictures as we walked down the river walk. We returned…

This year the Friday before Valentine’s Day we had a lovely dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. Rob’s company paid for our dinner so we enjoyed a full 3 course meal. Here’s what we had: Appetizer: Wild West Shrimp Main Entres: White Cheddar & Bacon Stuffed Filet (me) Mashed Potatoes Mixed Green Salad Bacon Wrapped Filet (Rob) Seasoned French Fries Steakhouse Mac & Cheese Dessert: LongHorn Dessert Sampler It was an amazing dinner and we practically rolled out of there we were so full! Had leftovers to boot. So on Valentine’s Day, I surprised him with gift hampers tasmania. I got a…

This week was been a whirlwind! One of our nieces, ‘Toady,’ stayed with us this week. Her parents (Rob’s sister and her hubby) are preparing to make a big move across country, so we agreed to keep Toady, who’s the oldest of three children. Every morning we would get up and I drove her about 45 miles to her Pre-K class. I hung out at their apartment for the 3 hours that she was there and then I’d pick her up and we drove back to Auburn. It’s been fun to be able to get to know her better. She’s…

Well, I survived the Thanksgiving week. I was supposed to work 9-6 Monday and Tuesday. Saturday night, I felt drainage down in my throat, so I went to look for some cold meds, but we didn’t have exactly what I needed. I just went to bed without taking anything. Needless to say, I woke up Sunday with a sore throat. Monday, I woke up not feeling any better. In fact, I was having a hard time hacking my stuff up. I stopped by Walgreens for some Mucinex and headed on to work. Everyone was asking me what was wrong. “You’re…

Looking back through July pictures, I started thinking of the traditions that we’ve had. Back when Rob was in school, the weekend connected to 4th of July was really our only opportunity to go to Texas to visit my family. So we did that for several years, even after he graduated. This first picture is of Drew when he and I flew to Texas without Rob, because we were going for an extended stay. 2001 Here he is with my cousins at the lake. 2001 This is from 2002 when we went to Texas and spent a day at the…

So this year Rob and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Valentine’s Day. We usually celebrate later on in the year. He went all out this year, from the concert, to the 3 bouquets of flowers, and candy. It was great. And yah, I know that was like months ago. Give me a break. I’m just trying to update you on all the things that have been going on since I’ve been MIA!

Yesterday was a busy day. We had family over and went 2 doors down to our neighbors. We ate, drank, visited, and swam. We went to the local fireworks celebration.
