    Day 2 started with some homemade waffles and jambalaya quiche and some web surfing while surrounded in the beauty of the mountains. Soon after, we threw on our swimsuits and hiking boots and headed to Helton Creek Falls Daisy usually travels in a travel crate, but with 8 people in the Pilot, there’s was no room for her crate.     Our first day in the mountains, we were busy unpacking, grocery shopping, and enjoying the 4th of July festivities. Here we are making fools of ourselves enjoying ourselves at the festivities at Vogel State Park. Dizzy fun! After our equilibrium returned, we enjoyed some egg tossin’ and some balloon throwin’! The greased pole competition was fun to watch. None of us participated in that. We made a stop on our way back to the cabin at Booger Hollow for a couple odds and ends.     Cabin in Blairsville, GA

    Here’s the cabin, we stayed in for the 4th of July trip this year. It was hands down the nicest and biggest cabin we’ve stayed in. It’s a 3 bedroom 3 1/2 bath with a large playroom on the bottom floor complete with games, foosball, and air hockey. Sleeps 9-10. It’s located in Blairsville, Georgia, which is just the location we’ve been trying to stay in since we started this tradition.     Warm Fuzzies A tall, tough looking guy walks up to the desk with a pile of big books. He places them on the desk and as he does so I see the forehead, eyes, and nose of a little girl as she peeks over the top of the desk trying to see.     During the month of June, Drew and I worked to get his room clean. Here’s what we did: -made three piles of clothes (keep, keepsakes, pass down to Alex) The pile to pass down to Alex was taller than me! -shampooed carpet -got stains out of carpet -cleaned closet -stained bookshelf -rearranged furniture -cleaned base boards -organized everything -fixed broken drawer -fixed broken bookend -spot cleaned walls He’s very proud to have a nice clean, organized room.     Don’t hide stuff here!

    A few weeks ago, we were traveling somewhere and Alex was “playing a game” with Drew, where he would hide the folded-up straw wrapper and Drew would have to guess where it was.     This year Drew decided to attend a different Boy Scout camp. Since his troop is so large they usually have 2 different groups go to 2 different camps. The last several years he’s gone up to North Carolina to Camp Daniel Boone, but this year he opted to stay in his home state of Alabama, and attend Camp Sequoyah.     Den Meeting at the AU Fisheries {Fishing Belt Loop}

    Last Friday Alex’s Cub Scout Den met up at the Auburn University fisheries for a Den Meeting to complete the requirements for the Fishing Belt Loop. Drew caught 2 fish. And so did Alex.     Date Night in Decatur

    Yesterday, we dropped the kids off so that they could hang out with their Uncle Nick while Rob and I escaped for a date night in Decatur, GA. One of Rob’s buddies from high school, Jason Passmore, had a CD release party at the Java Monkey. After finding a parking spot and locating Java Monkey, we walked around to find something to eat, as the Java Monkey just sells drinks, appetizers, finger foods and desserts.     Becoming a Better Leader

    Last week, Teenager was away at his first camp of the summer. We dropped him off on Sunday at Camp Jamison which is part of Camp Bert Adams, the wilderness part of the camp. This camp was NYLT, which stands for National Youth Leadership Training. This was such a great experience for Teenager. He came back with knowledge to lead, growth from his experiences, and friendships to last a lifetime. The first 2 days it monsooned. On our way home after picking him up Friday night, he told us stories of his group moping around, and how even though he…
