I hope to have part 2 up tomorrow! We arrived in Mahogany Bay, Roatan early and since we weren’t doing a cruise excursion we were able to hop off the ship as soon as we were docked. We had…

Saturday we decided to go hang out with our friends at the PIKE fraternity house on campus. We enjoyed smoked sausage, chicken, beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and cookie. SO yummy! We hung out and introduced Rob’s dad, who was in town, to everyone. He fit right in with all the football conversations. Alex pulled berries off the bushes and played math games and climbed the flag pole. Drew hung out with a couple of his friends throwing footballs and just hanging out, doing what teenage boys do, until it was time for the big boys to go tailgate closer…

This month I was happy about: Alex’s good report card and good report from our parent teacher conference. This month I was sad about: the never ending cycle of crap with insurance and contractors (post to come). Somethings I accomplished this month were: prevailing with insurance company in getting a fair amount of money (post to come). Something new I did was: play at church in the bell choir (post to come). Books I read were: Beyond Tuesday Morning (9/11 Series, #2) by Karen Kingsbury I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen The Delta Queen Cookbook: The History and…

I don’t know what is going on this season with Auburn football! We’re having a shameful season and it’s just sickening. 2 years after being on top of the world after winning the National Championship, we find ourselves 1-6 with not much of hope of bettering that any. My heart aches for those players who put their dreams on the line to join a university for which many of them have loved since they were little boys. I’m not going to lament over this and question what is going on with the football program, but what I would like to…

Here’s my next set of questions. If you missed my first post about being a Proverbs 31 Wife, you can find it here. Questions 6-10 Questions 11-15 Questions 16-20 Questions 21-25 Questions 26-30 Questions 31-35 36. What do you think about Sara’s statement, “We reflect Jesus in the small things so our families can see him in the bigger things.” Is this hard to do? Why or why not? Sara tells a funny story about walking her dog and picking up another dog’s “droppings.” She could feel God pushing her to do that and to interact with the owner of…

Here’s my LAST set of questions. If you missed my first post about being a Proverbs 31 Wife, you can find it here. Questions 6-10 Questions 11-15 Questions 16-20 Questions 21-25 Questions 26-30 31. What causes you to feel completely overwhelmed? How do you respond? What tools do you use to stay organized? I’m easily stressed, especially now that I have a job that isn’t stressful. Depending on why I’m stressed determines how I react. Most of the time the stress consumes me. It’s all I can think about, but just like Sara said instead of being overwhelmed with the…

Now that soccer season is almost half over, it’s way passed due for me to talk about the end of an era. Back in the summer, Drew tried out for Auburn Thunder, elite soccer club that travels. He’s played with them since being invited back in 2008. He made the team, but with the way the teams shook out and the coach and just other circumstances with getting older, he decided not to play with Thunder this year. It really made me sad. It’s been a way of life for us all these years. The good part about it is…

Here’s my next set of questions. If you missed my first post about being a Proverbs 31 Wife, you can find it here. Questions 6-10 Questions 11-15 Questions 16-20 Questions 21-25 #26. Sara struggles in identifying her role as wife, mom, career woman, and author. She juggles a lot of titles and tries to make sense of how they all work together. Have you ever struggled with titles you or someone else has put on you? How did it affect you? I’m not sure I’ve ever been concerned with my “title.” People know I’m a “busy Mom” who works at…

Here’s my next set of questions. If you missed my first post about being a Proverbs 31 Wife, you can find it here. Questions 6-10 Questions 11-15 Questions 16-20 #21. Have you ever taken a job out of need over desire? How did you grow from it? Yes, during my time of unemployment, I did several “jobs” that were not fun, but something to help us get by. I grew from it, by seeing myself do things I didn’t think I could endure. Proving to myself I can adapt to many different situations and job environments. #22. In what ways…

Here’s my next set of questions. If you missed my first post about being a Proverbs 31 Wife, you can find it here. Questions 6-10 Questions 11-15 #16. Does your husband listen to your advice? How do you influence him? How do you influence your family? I’m not sure that give him a lot of advice, but when he asks I give it and he always takes it into consideration. I try to be the word of reason for my family regardless of the topic or the situation. #17. How important is it to you to be beautiful to your…

Alex and I were driving somewhere today. There was car in front of us at the light. Alex noticed a dog in the passenger side. He pointed it out to me and at first, I saw the white shaggy dog type hair and started thinking, “Hmm…what kind of dog is that? Oh, I think it’s a Sheepdog.” However, the closer I looked at it the more it appeared to be someone just petting their own head. I was like, “Are you sure that’s a dog?” Alex looked closer and said, “Oh, well, maybe it’s not.” We both laughed and continued…

Here’s my next set of questions. If you missed my first post about being a Proverbs 31 Wife, you can find it here. My 2nd post is here. #11. Have you ever done something out of your element? What was it how did you feel after you did it? With the my change in careers, I’ve had to step out of my comfort zone and do things out of my element. I haven’t loved it all, but I know God has a plan and for that I have tried to look for the good in it all. #12. Who is…

Here’s my next set of questions. If you missed my first post, you can find it here. #6. How do you balance work and family? I’m not sure if I am balancing work and family. With my current job, I leave to go to work when my kids are coming home from school. To me that doesn’t seem “balanced,” but I don’t have another option right now. Share some tips that have worked for you. When I worked “normal” hours, I balanced family and work by using the time the kids weren’t there to get everything done, so that in…

~ Day 1::Day of Embarkation ~ Day 2::Fun Day at Sea ~ Day 4::Belize ~ Day 5::Roatan 1 ~ Day 5::Roatan 2 ~ Day 6::Costa Maya ~ Day 7::Day at Sea ~ Day 8::Disembarkation/Daytona ~ Day 3 was our first day at port. We docked in Cozumel around 9am. For our day in Cozumel, we had planned a day on our own. The nice part about not doing an excursion with the cruise line is that you beat everyone off the ship. So we caught a cab to Mr. Sancho’s Beach and had the first pick at a spot on…

Sunday was my birthday and although, I had to work, we celebrated much of the weekend. We went to Olive Garden Saturday night. Sunday after church we we went to Cheeburger Cheeburger. Rob got me a couple of books that I had wanted. One of them was My So-Called Life as a Proverbs 31 Wife by Sara Horn. I just finished the book. This is really easy read, nothing earth shattering, but I’d never really taken the time to understand what Proverbs 31 says and Sara did a great job of illustrating how she came to try and live to…
