This weeks posting is called “Let’s Hear It For The Boys!” in honor of Father’s Day, since I have 2 sons this was quite difficult to choose. I ended up going with this cute one of my older son back when he was in Kindergarten. This was after “fun night” at school with his best friend. Their faces are painted orange and blue, because we live in the city of the greatest university on Earth. 🙂 Be sure to check out I ♥ Faces to see all the other beautiful faces that have been entered into the contest!

This weeks posting is called “Let’s Hear It For The Boys!” in honor of Father’s Day. I chose this picture because it’s such a great tribute to Rob and the great father that he is. Here he’s laying in the ‘kiddy’ area with Alex. This pic has always been a favorite of mine. Be sure to check out I ♥ Faces to see all the other beautiful faces that have been entered into the contest! This was taken at Schlitterbahn

Original – “Pretty In Pink” Some slight improvements. Didn’t want to do anything drastic because the picture composition is so nice.

Sunday Drew was awarded his Tenderfoot rank at his first court of honor in Boy Scouts. Pretty good considering he crossed over in April!

Isn’t this so cute!?!? Alex has been so into Legos lately. He had them strewn from wall to wall in the living room. He pulled them back out the other night, after having to clean them up last weekend. He was wise to keep them in the bucket. Alex started trying to recreate a boat he saw in a Lego book he found. He took a break for a minute to get the pillow off the couch and then proceeded to lay down and play laying down! I was shocked when I looked over to see him asleep with his…

Thirteen things… I’ve been doing some “tidying” up of my blogosphere and realized that all my banners for Thursday 13 were because the original website is gone. So I went and fixed that. Then I found a link to a new Thursday 13 site and decided I might try to pick back up on this. This used to be one of my favorite posts to do each week. Now thinking about what to write for my 13 this week. I’m going to list 13 things that have happened since my last Thursday 13 post, which was at the end of…

Today I took Drew to the dr. for a check up for boy scout camp that he’ll be attending in a couple weeks. We saw a new doctor, Dr. M@tt C@rter, who was super nice. Drew checked out great, but to my surprise he had to get 2 shots. No big deal or so we thought…. The nurses come in to give him the shots in his arm. Didn’t seem to phase him much so he hops up and we go to pay and leave. On our way out the door he mentions that he feels like he’s gonna throw…

Original – “Sweet Grin” Here’s my “fixed” version. Using CS4, I played with curves to help with the lighting issue. Then I unmasked the eyes and used the dodge tool to bring out the color. I then used an action called Glam Bur v.1 to help soften the picture. I cloned out some of the little red marks on his face.

Picture courtesy of Savannah Now Saturday my sis-in-law, Maria, graduated from SCAD Atlanta. It was a great commencement ceremony. Very inspiring! They had display screens and while we were waiting for the ceremony to start they displayed examples of work from a select few graduates. I’m a pretty artsy person and as they flipped through the different majors, there were several that I think would be awesome. Made me really wish I would have been exposed to more before deciding what to major in in college. Live and learn! Glenn Close gave the commencement speech, which was quite interesting. After…

Original – “Little Precious” Here’s my “fixed” version. Using CS4, I played with curves to help with the exposure. Then, I unmasked the eyes and used the dodge tool. I increased the vibrance to bring out the color. I then used Lens Blur along with a dark vignette on the pic excluding her face. I cloned out some of the little red marks on her face.

This is my first time time to do Works for Me Wednesday. This week’s topic is Parenting Tip for Young Children. When my boys were younger they loved taking a bath, but neither of them liked getting out when it was time. In fact it got so bad with my first son that I came to dread bath time every night. One night I told him he should try to “beat the water.” We put it to a tune, “Beat the Water! Beat the Water!” He ended up putting other words to it, but for the life of me I…

Yesterday was the end of an era. Drew finished his years at elementary school. It’s hard to imagine these 5 years have gone by so fast. I can honestly look back at those 5 years and be satisfied with the education he received. For the most part he liked all his teachers and so did we. So now on to middle school for 6th & 7th grade. Then, junior high for 8th & 9th. In 6th grade they are in teams with 4 teachers. He’s on the Leopard team, so he’s been anxiously finding out from everyone what team they’re…

Original – “Ponytail Princess” Here’s my “fixed” version. Using CS4, I cropped the picture. Then I played with curves to help with the exposure. Then, I unmasked the eyes and used the dodge tool. I increased the vibrance to bring out the color. I uploaded into Picnik, where I went into Create and did the Effect called Orton-ish. I decided to use that effect because it made the colors a little brighter and softened the photograph. From there I went to Edit and did Rotate. Then, back under Create in Frames, I did Rounded Edges

I go through phases where I just don’t feel motivated to plan, cook, plan to cook…well you get the point. But when I don’t plan, I tend to stick with frozen pizzas and hamburger helper, so I’m thinking I need to get back into my planning mode starting this week (keeping my fingers crossed that I can stick with it.) Monday Dinner – Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Garlic Breadsticks Tuesday Dinner – Creamy Basil Parmesan Chicken Pasta Wednesday Dinner – Homemade Pizza & Salad Thursday Dinner – Chimichangas Friday Dinner – Leftovers Saturday Breakfast – Waffles & Bacon Lunch…

Original – “Little Beauty” Here’s my “fixed” version. Using CS4, I cropped the picture. Then I played with curves to help with the exposure. I increased the vibrance to bring out the color. I rotated it some (I’m really into angles lately). I smoothed out the dirt on her arms and face and reduced the noise to help with the dirt too. I added some warmth to the picture (colors>yellow).

Ok, so here’s my 3rd and final post on my kitchen. Well, at least until we do more renovations. Here’s pics of how the cabinets look now. I’ve also posted my fav nicknacks and pictures from different angles. You can click on the pic to see larger version and most of them have notes to go along with them for more explanation. I was reading Rae Ann’s blog yesterday and she had a post about her daughter in dance costumes. Seeing those, just took me back. In fact, it did so much that I decided to pull out the old photo albums and scan pictures. I started dancing at age 3 or 4. I went to Tracy Dee’s Dance Studio and loved it. My Dad was a freelance photographer at the time, so he took the pics for the studio and as you’ll see he took pics at our recitals. This is just an assortment of pictures I have. For some reason,…
