    What’s in a Name?

    Writing Assignment: 3.) How did you parents choose your name? What does it mean? What would you change your name to if you could? (inspired by Mama’s Losin It) This writing assignment was difficult to choose. I could have written about almost all of them! I chose to write about my name. I don’t use my name on here too much. I’m going to put it here now, but since google is so smart I’m adding stars to trick google up! Lysha pronounced Lee-sha. My mom had actually decided to name me Miranda, but my Dad’s grandmother and my Mom…

    Friday’s Favorite: Spark People

    SparkPeople by: SparkPeople Category: Healthcare & Fitness Released: February 2009 Size: 1.1 MB Spark People is an app to keep up with your fitness and healthcare goals. I’ve used sparkpeople.com for years and really like it. I think the app is even better. There are many different tools on the app, some of which include weight goal, daily food intake, daily fitness log, and useful charts. I would highly recommend this app and the website for anyone who is goal oriented eager to keep with food intake and setting goals.

    Show Us Your Life {Favorite Team, Tailgating, & Traditions}

    My favorite team is Auburn. It’s not just a team I root for, it’s my alma mater. Auburn is now home and has been since I moved here in 1996. It’s great living in a college town. Although, we don’t “tailgate” much, we often meet up with other tailgaters or usually just hang out on campus before games. We enjoy the parades & pep rallies before the games. Drew posing with the homecoming floats (a few years ago). Before every game there is always lots of fun stuff for kids, like face painting. Tigerwalk is like nothing you’ve ever seen!…

    Friends {a poem}

    Writing Assignment: 2.) Find your one very favorite picture of Summer and write a poem about it. (inspired by Mama’s Losin It) This is one of my favorite pictures from summer. Usually my fav pics do not include me, but I do love this one because of my great friend in it. Friends are something we often take for granted. Friends are people who are there no matter how bad life gets. They’re there to root you on when the going is good. They are not jealous of your accomplishments. They support you no matter what. They don’t turn their…

    Soccer Tourney 2009::Gulfport, MS

    Last weekend we went to Gulfport, MS for a soccer tourney. We chose to stay at some condos across from the beach called Sienna on the Coast with some friends who have a son on the Drew’s team. We had a good time. Nice, clean, new condos with all the essentials. The beach is not really even worth calling a beach, but I did get some cool bird pics, which I’ll share later. We enjoyed cooking breakfast and eating lunch at the condo, not having to spend money of food. We did enjoy dinner with the team at Blow Fly…

    Friday’s Favorite App: Urbanspoon

    by: Wanderspot Category: Social Networking Urbanspoon by: Wanderspot, LLC Category: Travel Released: November 2008 Size: 0.6 MB Out of town and don’t know where to eat? Well, the Urbanspoon takes care of that for ya! All you have to do is shake your iPod/iPhone and the Urbanspoon “slot machine” will pick something for you. Feeling like Mexican? Well you can lock that column and only Mexican restaurants will come up. You also have the option of locking the town or the amount of money you’d like to spend. You do need a wifi connection to search, which just means for…

    Life Happening

    You’ll probably see more random entries, because I just feel like I’m not documenting my life. And with all the stresses, I just don’t see how I’ll remember all this. In fact, I’m upset that I haven’t documented more the last couple of years. Oh well…I never said I was a great writer, or that my stuff is even interesting. So anyway, I’ve been substitute teaching more the last couple weeks. Up until today, I had subbed 8 straight days, which is good since I’m not getting any compensation any more. I’m hoping and praying that I can continue to…

    Randomness of today…

    — This evening around 7:40 I was able to get away and go to the grocery store! Pretty sad, when I’m excited about going to Wal-Mart. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a normal trip for groceries. I went through the self-check out, as I always do. I rang up my 50 items or so and paid. Then, as I got ready to pull my buggy away, I realized I didn’t ring up the items in the top part of the cart. Since there was a line waiting behind me, I wasn’t able to just ring up the items. I…

    Emotional Ending Soccer Game

    Last weekend Drew’s team played the USC boys from Huntsville. This team suffered a loss on August 31st, when one of their players passed away due to the Swine Flu. In remembrance of him our boys wore wrist bands with his number 18 on it. At the end of the game when shaking hands they handed the wrist bands to the other team. It was quite emotional. After our boys did that, the other team came over to us and shook our hands. The coach also came over and expressed his gratitude for the thought. It was quite emotional. We…

    Friday’s Favorite App: Touch Bible LE

    Touch Bible LE by: Patrick Franklin Category: Reference Released: November 2008 Size: 26.7 MB I love this because instead of lugging my bible to church, I’m able to be able to access the entire bible without having WiFi. Since I have an iPod touch, I don’t have the luxury that iPhone users have. So the other day when I went to church and forgot my bible, I decided to give it a try. I first checked to see if I was able to connect to WiFi, because I thought for sure I would need it for this app. Shocked, but…

    Visitors

    Last weekend we had 2 sets of visitors. Drew was very excited to see his good friend, who moved 3 years ago. They haven’t seen each other that entire time, so it was such a great reunion for the boys. It seemed that they picked up right where they left off. Here’s a few pics.

    Friday’s Favorite App: Zenbe Lists

    Zenbe Lists by: Robert Kieffer Category: Productivity Released: October 2008 Size: 0.2 MB *Note: This was free I downloaded it. It appears now that it’s not. I apologize for that, but I was nearly done writing this when I noticed that. Zenbe.com came out in 2008 and I think I must have started using it that summer. There’s three sections to Zenbe; email, lists, & shareflow. The lists part is the part of the site that I use with the iPod. Since I’m a serious list-maker, I find this site & app to be priceless. What I usually do is…

    Friday’s Favorite App: Unblock Me

    I just think it is awesome that there are FREE applications for iPhones & iPods. Better yet they are 1,000’s to choose from! I’ve found some that I just couldn’t live without. I’ve decided to write a weekly post every Friday to feature my favorite free iPod/iPhone application. Unblock Me FREE by: Kiragames Category: Games Released: August 2009 Size: 1.7 MB Unblock Me is a game I quickly became addicted to. I guess I’ve always loved puzzle type games more than the normal board game, so this was right up alley. It turns out that my 5 yo and 11…

    Open House at the Kindergarten

    I’ve gotten in a rut lately of not posting especially posting personal happenings. I really need to get back to that since that is what this blog was intended for. Anyway, last night was open house at the Kindergarten with Alex. I had already met his teacher at “Meet the Teacher Night,” but open house give them more of an opportunity to explain how things are structured, etc. I already had a good feel for how I thought she would run things, just based on how the room was set up and things that Alex had told me. Sitting in…

    1st Day of School

    Today was the 1st day of school for the 2009-2010 school year. Drew’s going into 6th grade, which means moving up to middle school. Alex is going to Kindergarten! One good thing out of being unemployed right now is that I got to take Alex to his first day of school ever.

    Ramblings of My Life

    You know, I haven’t actually written here in a while. Yah, I’ve posted stuff; menus, pictures, other random superficial posts. I haven’t talked about what’s been going on with me. I’m not sure you wanna hear it, but at this point, I have to remember this blog was started for me and for my family who are far away. I’ve spent the last few weeks, well really all summer, but especially the last few weeks, trying to find a teaching job. With no luck! I’ve only had 4 or 5 interviews. Teaching jobs in this is state are very hard…
