    [insert zany title here, please] updated

    I just love when Rude Cactus does the posts of numbers. I’ve kept that in mind, trying to find a good time to do a post like that. Well, unfortunately the time has come. LOL! I was hoping it would be some wonderful post about a vacation or new job. Not so much. I’ll just let you figure out why it is unfortunate by leaving you with the totals…. Days since this all started: 16 Days it seems like it’s been going on: 35 Trips to the emergency room: 1 Antibiotics Rob has taken: 3 Pain meds attempted: 2 Trips…

    Trip to Murphy, NC

    Tuesday night the week before 4th of July, Rob was talking with his brother about finding something “fun” to do over the weekend. The last few years we have mainly hung out at home and enjoyed time with our neighbors. Before that we headed to Texas to visit my family there. Anyway, after some thought and research we decided it would be fun to head up to the North Georgia Mountains. Since it was so close to the date, there were only a few options. We ended up staying here in Murphy, NC. We went with Rob’s Mom, Step-Dad, adopted…

    Ok, Ok, Ok!

    So this blog seems to be turning into a cruise blog and I’m sorry to those of you who think of cruising as a ridiculous way to travel. Since we can’t take any big vacations now, it’s just been so therapeutic for me to write these cruising entries. I do plan to do some other travel posts, too. Anyway, so what else have we been up to now that it’s summer. Well…. This week Drew has been at Boy Scout camp and will return tomorrow. Here’s a couple pics before he left. After leaving the Scout Hut, we took Alex…

    Photo Walk {Atlanta: Oakland Cemetery}

    Last Saturday I took a trip up to Atlanta for my first photo walk. We met up at Oakland Cemetery. It’s quite a large cemetery currently at 48 acres. There are several sections of the cemetery Original 6 acres, Confederate section, New Jewish section, Black section, and Potter’s field. I made it to 3 sections, I believe. I would really like to go back and see the areas that I missed. Front entrance. (If you ever go here, DO NOT park in the parking lot that sits near this sign. Park inside the cemetery. There were 2 people from our…

    Fix-It Friday #57

    Original I did 5 or 6 edits of this photo, but I wanted to post something “out of the box.” So here you have it! This is a texture layer added to make it look like a strip of film. Not my favorite, but something different.

    Things That Make You Happy

    When thinking of things that make happy there’s all sorts of categories of things that make me happy. I’m going to try and highlight the top things so this is not a never ending post! I can’t make a list without putting my kids. I’ll have to say I’m especially happy when they’re getting along! And the hubby. Our dog, Rosie, brings me joy. Friends make me happy. Happiness is dancing! I’ve loved dancing since I was a little girl and still it’s one of the things that makes me most happy. Music evokes such emotion in me and also…

    American Idol {Spoiler!}

    The American Idol finale was awesome! Incredible performers and performances! The highlight of the show was when Casey James came out and sang Every Rose Has Its Thorn. During earlier performances, Rob and I would call out who sang the song originally. I, for some reason, was thinking it was Guns N Roses and we were like, oh well their lead singer is dead….yada yada yada. Then when Bret Michaels walked out, I absolutely lost it. I have grown fond of Bret while watching Celebrity Apprentice. I so much admired his humor and his love for his daughters. Anyway, in…

    Happy Birthday, Granddad!

    Today would have been my Granddad’s 86th birthday! May is such a difficult month for me for so many reason, which I won’t get into right now. One reason is this, that Granddad was born and passed in May. I have so many great pictures of him that are still left to scan, but here’s a few of him (in no order). Granddaddy at Christmas when my Dad was a teenager My Grandfather and me at Christmas Granddad dressed up in Mexican attire, not sure why Granddad and Me when I was expecting Drew Granddad, his sister, and Parents Me…

    Celebrity Century {7 Day Eastern Caribbean} Part 2

    Read Part 1 June 5, 2003: Thursday Thursday was a day of relaxation and recuperation from our several days off ship. We slept in, ate lunch in the dining room, relaxed poolside, and enjoyed some onboard activities. That evening was the Dinner Menu 2nd formal night followed by the show, Las Vegas-Then and Now. June 6, 2003: Friday Friday was a quick day in Nassau, Bahamas, arriving about 2:30. It was still plenty of time to get in an excursion and some site-seeing. We did the Nassau & Paradise Island Tour. The show that evening was Steve Moris and Dale…

    This week at Show Us your Life over at Kelly’s Korner is How You Met Your Husband week. I’ve written some pretty in depth posts about that you can start with here. I have most of the next post And baby makes three…(part V) started, but never finished it. Maybe I’ll finish that soon. Anyway, for this post I’m going to write an abbreviated version of these posts. POM Wonderful

    About a month ago, I was contacted by a representative from POM Wonderful about sending me some POM juice to try. Well, they sent me an 8 pack. I tried it and it is so yummy! It’s a very light, smooth juice, nothing thick or crunchy like other juices of tried. Not too sweet, not to sour. I can drink down the 8 oz. bottle in no time. The icing on the cake is that it’s healthy! It contains no added sugars or preservatives. Gluten free and full of potassium. Slightly sweet. Slightly tart. One sip and you’ll discover a…

    Cardinals

    Yesterday I got home and Rob had been sitting on our balcony. He said thatDrew had made a discovery while looking for a ball, which was a nest full of baby cardinals. Today I was able to go out and find them again. Here they are. This is kind of hard to decipher, but I think they were turned over where you see wings. This morning when I went out Mama and Daddy were both near the nest when I opened the door. They quickly flew away when they heard me. Here’s Mama and the blur which is Dad. I…

    {I ♥ Faces} Week 17 – Smiles

    This is my oldest niece, Arial. She’s peeking through the bars on the playground. She’s one of the few kids I’ve reminded to smile who didn’t give me that crazy, fake smile. I think her smile is precious, but maybe I’m just a bit bias. 🙂 Be sure to check out I ♥ Faces to see all the other beautiful faces that have been entered into the contest!
