    The Writing’s On the Wall

    Last Wednesday, I got up as normal, grabbed my phone, and headed down stairs to have my Bible time and eat my cereal before getting the kids up in 30 minutes. I noticed I had a text, so I opened it up to see a text from AU ALERT:

    Memories of the Month {3.2014}

    This month I was happy about: starting my new daytime hours. This month I was sad about: just still really missing me Dad. Something I accomplished this month was: getting used to working like normal people.

    Liebster Award

    A fellow ALWB blogger, Carol, has nominated me for The Liebster Award. Thanks so much, Carol! Now I get to answer the 11 questions, she asked. So here goes… 1. Are you a cat or dog person? I am a dog person, no doubt. I don’t mind cats except that they jump up on everything and that just stresses me out. 2. What was the most controversial thing you have ever blogged about? I don’t talk politics and I don’t share a lot of my private life…So when I try to think about the most controversial thing I’ve blogged about…

    More thoughts…and pics of Dad

    I received my Dad’s ashes a couple of weeks ago. I’m thankful to have them in my possession now. So I’ve started to casually look at the costs of going down to the Florida Keys, where he wanted to be spread. I am thankful to have one loose end taken care of and I hope to have more closure when we take this trip. I’ll share more about that as it comes about. I am thankful he picked somewhere beautiful and tropical. I just continue to find myself grasping for something when it comes to missing Dad. I am missing…

    Family Date Night

    A few weeks ago, we left work early, checked the kids out of school, and drove up to Atlanta for a night at the Fox. After getting up to Atlanta, we parked and decided to walk around a bit before figuring out where we would eat dinner. We walked by this beautiful church, All Saints Episcopal Church and decided to go inside.

    Good News!

    So the other day, I eluded to the fact that I had some exciting news! Although, it shouldn’t effect my blogging at all, my family will totally benefit from it. My 2nd shift (3pm-12am) shifts are no more!! I am taking on a new role at work, which enables me to be a normal human being and work normal 8-5 hours! Can I get a Hallelujah?

    Tiffany & Dad

    I am really missing my Dad lately. I was excited to get some pics that my cousin, Tiffany, took in December on a couple different occasions. Here’s one from December 14, 2013 of my Dad and Tiffany. I just look at this picture and I just still can’t fathom that he is gone. His body is now ashes waiting to be “blowing in the wind” in their final resting place. I just can’t believe that just a few months ago, he was living life, like nothing was wrong, not knowing anything was wrong. I am so thankful he is no…

    Memories of the Month {2.2014}

    This month I was happy about: a change that’s coming soon! This month I was sad about: just really missing my Dad these days. Something I accomplished this month was: not much of anything…or at least that I can remember.

    Deja Vu

    Drew had the opportunity back when he was 9 to start playing mid-season for Auburn Thunder Travel Soccer. It’s like Deja Vu…Just like big brother, Alex has had the same opportunity. The league decided to open up tryouts in January and Alex decided to give it shot. He made it, so here we are again! Since Drew decided not to play travel soccer the last couple of years and just play for the school, we’ve had a nice break from it. This past weekend was their first weekend in action in a tournament about 40 miles from here. Since he…

    Dad Remembered

    This was in an email that was sent out by the Race Across America (RAAM). My Dad loved RAAM and enjoyed being a part of this huge race for so many years. He gave so much of his time to this cause. Glad they put a blurb in the newsletter last month remembering him. I think he would be surprised. Dad’s (Short) Journey with ALS

    Another Snowpocalypse 2014?

    Well, we’re all home again today for another “Snow Day.” However, it’s 45 degrees and sunny out! Back at the end of January, we were all home for 3 days because of real snow and ice. Here’s a few pics after much of the snow and ice had already begun to melt.

    6 weeks later…

    Two weeks ago, when we were at our church’s retreat, I finally began to grieve. It slapped me right in the face as I sat there Saturday night, listening to Olu Brown recount the story of him dealing with the loss of his Dad. There were many similarities in our stories, but it wouldn’t have mattered. I just sat so stiff grasping on to my emotions as if I let a tear drop, I would go plunging from the highest of cliffs. I made it through Olu’s message without coming completely unwound, but then we sang 10,000 Reasons. Or rather…

    New Year’s Eve 2013

    I just realized I never really finished talking about our trip back from Texas. We had flown out there with plans to visit with Dad, help him out with whatever he needed help with, and prepare the truck he was giving us and drive it back home. Well, as you know plans changed while we were in flight to DFW. After the Memorial Service on Monday, Rob and Drew took over the task of getting the truck ready. We also decided to take the trailer that my Dad had as well. Meanwhile, I spent time helping Justin and Jason going…

    At the Park with Cousins

    I’m still playing catch up with all my pics and posts. These pics were taken while we were in Texas in December. We took a break from all the memorial service planning, cleaning out of Dad’s house, etc to let the boys play at the park with my Brother, Mel’s kids. It was a much needed break for everyone!

    New Driver in the House

    I snapped a few shots of my excited Drew after he was finally able to get his driver’s license today. He turned 16 a week and a half ago, but was waiting on the “Gold” card from the state. He took driver’s ed the 2nd 9 weeks and at the end of the class, which ended after Christmas break, he was able to take the Driver’s Test with his Driver’s ed teacher instead of at the DMV. The “Gold” card has to be sent from Montgomery and it didn’t make in time for his birthday. So this morning we got…

    Boy Scout Ski Trip 2014::Gatlinburg, TN {Day 3 & 4}

    If you missed my post about Day 1 & 2, you should read it here first. Sunday we got up pretty early so we could hit the slopes before the crowds. We ate breakfast at the hotel, rode the tram back up the mountain, got our ski boots and skis, and then it was time for ski school for most everyone. Waiting for our lesson to begin Not long after we took this pic we saw Drew as well as most of the other boy scouts, flying down the mountain like they’d been skiing for years. The realization hit that…
