    Things That Make You Happy

    When thinking of things that make happy there’s all sorts of categories of things that make me happy. I’m going to try and highlight the top things so this is not a never ending post! I can’t make a list without putting my kids. I’ll have to say I’m especially happy when they’re getting along! And the hubby. Our dog, Rosie, brings me joy. Friends make me happy. Happiness is dancing! I’ve loved dancing since I was a little girl and still it’s one of the things that makes me most happy. Music evokes such emotion in me and also…

    Happy Birthday, Granddad!

    Today would have been my Granddad’s 86th birthday! May is such a difficult month for me for so many reason, which I won’t get into right now. One reason is this, that Granddad was born and passed in May. I have so many great pictures of him that are still left to scan, but here’s a few of him (in no order). Granddaddy at Christmas when my Dad was a teenager My Grandfather and me at Christmas Granddad dressed up in Mexican attire, not sure why Granddad and Me when I was expecting Drew Granddad, his sister, and Parents Me…

    Show Us your Life {How You Met Your Husband}

    This week at Show Us your Life over at Kelly’s Korner is How You Met Your Husband week. I’ve written some pretty in depth posts about that you can start with here. I have most of the next post And baby makes three…(part V) started, but never finished it. Maybe I’ll finish that soon. Anyway, for this post I’m going to write an abbreviated version of these posts. I was a sophomore at Texas Tech and Rob was a sophomore at Auburn. We met on AOL, when it was just beginning to get popular. We chatted online every night and…

    POM Wonderful

    About a month ago, I was contacted by a representative from POM Wonderful about sending me some POM juice to try. Well, they sent me an 8 pack. I tried it and it is so yummy! It’s a very light, smooth juice, nothing thick or crunchy like other juices of tried. Not too sweet, not to sour. I can drink down the 8 oz. bottle in no time. The icing on the cake is that it’s healthy! It contains no added sugars or preservatives. Gluten free and full of potassium. Slightly sweet. Slightly tart. One sip and you’ll discover a…

    Cardinals

    Yesterday I got home and Rob had been sitting on our balcony. He said thatDrew had made a discovery while looking for a ball, which was a nest full of baby cardinals. Today I was able to go out and find them again. Here they are. This is kind of hard to decipher, but I think they were turned over where you see wings. This morning when I went out Mama and Daddy were both near the nest when I opened the door. They quickly flew away when they heard me. Here’s Mama and the blur which is Dad. I…

    Season of Nerves

    I’ve got so many posts “in the works,” but it just seems I can’t get them finished right now. So be patient. In the mean time… With the beautiful weather that we’re having, comes a very nerve-wracking time for me. It’s “teacher hiring season.” I so badly want to be back in the classroom. This year of subbing has really opened my eyes to so many things and I’m ready to put a lot of those ideas to use. I know there is a reason for all things that happen and God has my master plan. I’m just praying that…

    Military Funeral 2010::Biloxi, MS

    I mentioned in an earlier post that we attended a military funeral in Biloxi at the Biloxi National Cemetery a few weeks ago. It was for Rob’s Step Dad’s Father, so Rob’s Step-Grandfather, Cliff. They buried Cliff and his wife’s ashes together. My mother-in-law and my niece before the ceremony Keeping watch before the ceremony The folding and unfolding of the flag was something so intricate, yet touching. Gun salute. After the gun salute, there was a recording played of Taps. It would have been much more real if it were played live. I remember when going to Arlington National…

    Spring is…

    really teasing us. After one of the coldest winters we’ve had, we are SO ready for spring. I took these pictures last weekend while we were in Baton Rouge visiting family. Candi has this beautiful tree in her yard. I’d like to add some of these to our yard someday.

    Learning to Ride

    The weekend before Alex turned 6 he decided he was going to learn to ride his bike. I was so proud that he and his big brother were outside working on it. In 2 days he pretty much had it down. Over spring break we went to Town Creek park. They have bike paths that go through the park. We also went over to the school, where they have a nice big parking lot so that he could ride and practice his turns. Spring Break 2010

    This spring break we just hung out. When it wasn’t raining, the boys and I went outside to ride bikes and play. The 2nd weekend of SB we went to Baton Rouge to visit family. We always look forward to Cajun food when we head over that way. We went to Chimes on Sunday after church. It was so yummy! Rob had Red Beans & Rice and Crawfish Etouffe. We had Boudin Balls and onion rings for appetizers. SO yummy! I had the Catfish platter, which came with Red Beans & Rice and Hush Puppies. Although these beautiful flowers had…

    The Little Girl in Me

    For some reason, Rob gets an American Girl catalog. Oh, I just get all giddy looking through it. It’s a good thing they weren’t around when I was little. I’m not sure I would have had a collection of them like I did with Cabbage Patch dolls, but I sure would have like to have! I know CP dolls seemed to be quite expensive back in the day, but I know they weren’t $100. Anyway… The other day as I was looking through the American Girl catalogue, I found myself looking through it as if I were going to be…

    Conversation {Tails}

    This little conversation came after Alex asked me if it was cold outside. Alex: Rosie must get cold. She doesn’t have a tail. Me: That’s right. Alex: Don’t most animals have tails? Me: Yah Alex: Are there any humans that have a tail? Me: No, we don’t have a need for a tail like animals do. Alex: That’s why we get cold easier than animals.

    Six…

    How can it be? I just swoon when I see this pic of my little guy. How I miss the tiny-ness of holding a newborn. There’s nothing holding a little piece of you. Someone you created… Someone; a baby that grew inside of you. Someone that relies on you 100%… There’s just nothing like it! Happy birthday, Alex! Love you…….

    Food Rules

    My last week at the library I saw this book, flipped through it, and decided to check it out. I loved that it was short, sweet, and to the point. It outlines 63 rules about food. A lot of it is common sense, but I think for a lot of us we have lost our common sense when it comes to food. Anyone else agree with me there? I know deep down, I know what’s good and not good, but when I’m “on the go”, I just throw all that out the window. And I drive up to the window!…

    Library Story #1

    Not sure if I’ve talked about my temporary evening job I’ve had since November. If you follow me on Facebook, you’re well aware. Anyway, it has been a true blessing. It really helped us survive Christmas. Unfortunately it has finally come to an end, but I’ve made a few notes during this experience. I’ve learned so much and it has really been a fun job. So here goes….. Did you know that you can rent lap tops at the library? and Group study rooms? Extension cords and even power strips? There’s also DVD’s, Boxes of Rocks, and dry erase markers…

    Snow Day {Feb 2010}

    We had a snow day on Friday. We made our way over to our neighbors across the street. They have a nice hill that the boys sled down on inner tubes. We probably ended up with 4-5 inches. Here’s some pics:
