    Friday Letters

    Dear week, No offense, but I am so glad you’re over! That is all! MM Dear driver, When you’re sitting at a red light, do you forget that your car has windows? Yes, you may feel like you’re in your own little world, but I can see you digging in your nose. It’s gross. MM Dear Toomer’s Oaks, I’ve loved seeing the new leaves bloom this spring. I drove by as they were pruning you this week. I sat at a long red light and watched them trim away dead branches. I pray that will help you to continue to…

    Joe Wheeler State Park, AL

    Last weekend, we ventured up to North Alabama, because Drew was competing in State Cup Soccer. He had a game Friday night and Sunday morning. Since we were going to have all Saturday with no games, we decided to stay about an hour away from the fields at Joe Wheeler State Park in the Lodge. Nice, large rooms with beautiful views of the lake. If you’re looking for a pristine place to stay I would not recommend this place. Although, it was nice and fine for us, someone who is looking for super clean won’t be happy. Since it is…

    Day Trip Amish Country in Ethridge, TN

    Last weekend we were up in Decatur, AL, we made a quick trip up to Ethridge, TN to visit the Amish community that Rob had heard about. We did it on a bit of whim after putting gas in the car, so we did not know exactly where to go. We followed the signs to the Lawrenceburg Visitor Center until had driven all the way through to Ethridge. We ended up seeing this sign, where we turned down a dirt road that dead ended to a quaint house and shop building. As we got close to the house a young…

    Life Happenings – May 2012

    -Drew washed his cell phone in the washer. There was a loud banging noise after I started up the dryer, so I stopped it to see what was in there. In case this happens on your washer, better have it checked by an expert in washer and dryer repair. I was happy it wasn’t an ink pen, but was really sad to see it was his phone. We haven’t tried the rice trick yet, because I don’t have any plain rice to put it in. We just have it sitting out with the battery separated from the phone. So we’ll…

    Sunday Snapshot {Soccer}

    Today Drew played in the 2nd of game of the State Cup. He got to play on the field with the stadium type bleachers and a press box. I like this shot because it looks like he’s running on air. Photography/editing blurb: I cropped this a bit and I debated whether to crop out the other pair of legs in the right hand corner. I didn’t want to crop it in a portrait style and I also didn’t want to cut off Drew’s legs, so I think the only way to crop would be in a square. I wasn’t real…

    Scripture Picture {Romans 6:4}

    We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. ~Romans 6:4 (NIV) I love photography and love the Bible. What’s better than putting the 2 things together, right? So link up and spread the Word. 🙂 Here’s what you do to join the fun… ~ Take a picture that you like. ~ Find a scripture that you think goes well with it. Or visa versa ~ Add the scripture to the picture using the text…

    Friday Letters

    Dear Dr. Principal, I’m flattered that you think I’m an 8th or 9th grader. Although, I find it sad that my child says you don’t know any of the students and he’s not surprised you would make such mistake. Now that you have your PhD, maybe you should work on getting to know your parents and students. Not meaning to sound sarcastic, just stating the way I feel… MM Dear Magnolia Mom (that’s me), Don’t take a offense when people from other departments call your department, hear your voice and assume that you are a student. Take this as a…

    Another Season of Machine Pitched Baseball {Spring 2011}

    What a great season of baseball for Alex! He had 2 spectacular coaches, husband and wife, Wade Benson & Jill Haas. Coach Benson was the Auburn University volleyball head coach who just resigned. His wife, Coach Haas, played for the American Women’s Baseball national team for the championship in Japan in 2000. To say we had really qualified coaches would be an understatement. We saw great improvements in Alex, as well as the entire team. End of the year party

    MeMe

    Recently found this on another blog… 1. Define trailer trash: In the South, this is a derogatory term used to describe some folks that live in trailers. 2. What are your thoughts on WalMart? I love to hate WalMart. I only go there because I believe that I truly save a lot of money. 3. If you could choose another era in which to be born and live, which one, and why? Probably the 50’s because I’ve come to love all the retro stuff from that time period. 4. Tell me about a meal from your childhood, often served in…

    Wee Bit Wednesday 5.11.11

    Over at This Life is Sweet today, she did a meme called Wee Bit Wednesday and I decided to give it a shot as well! {one} what profession have you always admired? I’ve always admired doctors and nurses or really anyone in the medical field. {two} what would the title of your memoir/biography be if it was written today? DMS Band Concert

    ::::::Random thoughts:::::: Not only the last concert of the year, but Drew’s… last concert at DMS. last concert as a 7th grader. I tapped my toe. I shook my leg. I couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear. The songs made me happy. I took way too many pictures. I wanted to jump on the front row and start playing. I’m amazed at the growth Drew and the band has shown this year. And yes, I totally cried…

    Just put me on the BAD MOM list!

    Ahhhhh!!! I’m so upset right now and instead of putting part of this on my facebook, I’m going to do what I used to do and blog about it! So here goes…you have been forewarned. First, let me give some background info. Every summer our church has a “Sweat Week” for 6-12th graders. Sweat Week is where the teenagers sleep at the church for 3 or 4 nights and they spend each day doing mission work around the community. Last year Drew helped sort donations at the Salvation Army drop off center, shovel horse waste at a Horse Camp for…

    Happy Children’s Book Week {May 2-8}

    This week is Children’s Book Week! Yay! Since Children’s books are my favorite, I’m bubbling with excitement to share my favorite children’s books of all time. When I started thinking back to the books I had growing up, this is one that comes to mind first. I remember purchasing this at a school book fair. I couldn’t have been more excited. It remained one my fav books and I still have it today. Little Rabbit’s Loose Tooth The Dollhouse Murders reeled me in and made me a lover of mystery and suspense. Judy Blume, although controversial, her books were some…
