I’ve been hearing about cornbread waffles and decided to try it out. The kids thought I’d lost my mind when I told they saw a “waffle” in their chili. However, they ended up loving it. Now if you’re in a rush or just feeling lazy you can simply use the JIFFY cornbread mix. You just follow the directions on the box. Spray your waffle iron with non-stick spray on top and bottom and pour about half of the mixture in. Let it cook until it beeps. You’ll probably get about 2 waffles if you have a Belgium waffle maker like…

Happy 2015! How can that be? With every new year, I try to look at it as fresh new beginning. Whether I make new years resolutions or not, I think it never hurts to reevaluate your life and to think about ways to improve it. Since I recently decided to rejuvenate my blog life and move to this new URL, I decided it would be a great year to start off with some New Year’s Resolutions. If you decide to write some, remember you should only have 3-7 goals. Having too many will overwhelm you and will make it hard…

If you missed my post about Day 1 & 2, you should read it here first. Sunday we got up pretty early so we could hit the slopes before the crowds. We ate breakfast at the hotel, rode the tram back up the mountain, got our ski boots and skis, and then it was time for ski school for most everyone. Waiting for our lesson to begin Not long after we took this pic we saw Drew as well as most of the other boy scouts, flying down the mountain like they’d been skiing for years. The realization hit that…

This month I was happy about: was that we got some snow!! This month I was sad about: Rob and Alex getting the flu. Something I accomplished this month was: surviving this crazy month.

Friday we headed out in a caravan with Drew’s troop towards Gatlingburg for a weekend of ice skating, snow tubing, skiing and more fun. We got in around 1am, handed out keys to boys, and found our way to our cozy little room. Driving through downtown Gatlinburg to our hotel Saturday morning we got up and shoved down some hotel breakfast before hitting the town. Who can’t go to Gatlinburg without drooling over the caramel apples, taffy, and handmade candies?

This past weekend we went to Birmingham for our Cub Scout Winter Trip to McWane Center. We did this back in 2012 and had such a good time. It is such a fun trip and is so easy for the leaders. As the Cubmaster’s Wife, I am so happy when there’s less work for him! Laying on a bed of nails. Watching how the shape changes as it begins to spin Drew got the High Cycle stuck! Alex waiting for the IMAX movie to start About to work on a Belt Loop We got placed on the 3rd floor this…

Late Saturday night, I sat at my Granny’s bar shuffling through songs on my laptop from Bob Dylan, ZZ Top, and Eric Clapton. I just couldn’t find a song for Dad’s slideshow that I’d made for his memorial service. Drew sat across from me. We laughed at some of the choices, like “Blowing in the Wind” and “Death is Not the End”. I told Drew I was going to look at the Beatles, because surely they have a song that would feel right. “There’s “Hey Jude” or “Yesterday”. Mmmmm…no, I’m gonna keep lookin’,” I told him. Then, I saw it.…

If you missed my first post about the day after Christmas, you can read it here. So Thursday afternoon was filled with calling my brother to tell him that Dad was gone. Going to Dad’s house to clean up some and then talking with family about details with Dad. My brother got into town in the middle of the night, I tried to sleep for a couple hours before going to get him. Friday was very busy, but I’m thankful that my Uncle Brad and cousin Maddie were at Granny’s to hang out with the boys and play games with…

The day after Christmas the family and I got up early and headed to the airport. I’ve been dreading this trip since a couple weeks ago when we planned it. When Rob and I were visiting my Dad last month, he had us test drive his 1991 Ford Ranger truck. When we got back from that visit, we decided to see if he would like us to get a one-way-ticket and fly back out and drive the truck back. After talking to him a couple times, he finally said it was ok. I don’t know what it was, but he…

Over MLK weekend we went up to Blue Ridge, Ga with our friends the “S” family. We left Friday night after loading up the car. We arrived about 9ish, just in time to set up our air mattresses and hope in. Saturday morning we awoke to Mr. S cooking bacon. Rob got up and started cranking out waffles. After that we got dressed. The Drew went outside to see our dogs playing with the beautiful husky, Beckham, from up the hill who came to say hi. Once we packed the coolers for the day, we loaded up and headed to…

This month I was happy about: getting to spend time with friends. This month I was sad worried sick about: my top teeth that are having issues because I grind and clinch when I sleep. Something I accomplished this month was: surviving. Something new I did was: go see an oral surgeon to make sure there was not a cyst on my top gums. The verdict was no, but he recommended I get my wisdom teeth out sometime soon. Luckily, I only have top ones! I’m going to wait and see what pans out with my initial issue mentioned above.…

…That I now have a 15 year old? I mean really! It blows my mind. Yesterday was Drew’s birthday. We celebrated by going to Shogun, where we feasted on Japanese food and he opened his presents. He got an Alabama Driver’s Manual, tickets to Elton John with his Dad in March, and a weight bench and weights. My letter to Drew, Although, we butt-heads more often than not, I hope you know that I love you dearly. I am happy to call you my son. When I tell you I’m proud of you, I mean it whole-heartedly. Even though, Dad…

this was written awhile back… listen…. do you hear that? it is so loud. i can’t block it out. i can’t wish it away ~believe me i’ve tried i’ve tried praying for it to stop. it sometimes seems never ending the only time i don’t hear it is when i’m sleeping ~unless of course I’m being haunted by it through the pictures in my dreams i’m referring to the constant dialogue going on in my head lately it has been so loud and i just can’t seem to turn it…

…or not…. the moment you’re at a Mexican restaurant and you realized you are sitting next to table of vet students who are talking about the worms they had to exam in cat feces and the steps they had learned in how to spay at cat.

This month I was happy about: getting a “Leading Performance (exceeds expectations)” on my 1st end of the year evaluation at my job. This month I was sad about: Rob being sick. Something I accomplished this month was: just surviving! I had 2.5 days of Rob in the hospital and 3.5 days of Rob being gone working an Emmaus Walk. Now for many of you, you’re thinking woop-de-do, but my work schedule and the kids’ school schedule don’t jive at all. I’m so thankful for my friends who helped me out during those days. Something new I did was: photograph…

As I said on my post for the Scavenger Hunt, I told you that I’m struggling. What I didn’t mention was that in this new year, I can’t get into groove for anything! I absolutely despise that. So this week you can see I didn’t get many pictures. And this week I’m not doing any better so far. 🙁 Maybe I just need to not worry with this project this year… 22. Lego House: This is the 2nd Lego House that Alex has made. This set makes 3 different houses. Pretty cool. 23. Shining Through: Trying to be positive 24.…

I am in such a rut right now photography-wise. Blah! Part of it is I’m rushing right here at the deadline to get pics done. I want to be creative, but these last few weeks have been too dang hectic. This week isn’t lookin’ much better. Smile This weekend I pulled out a box of some of my old miniature toys. I think this is a miniature from Strawberry Shortcake? I like her smile. I tried to get a pic of one of my boys smiling over the weekend, but they weren’t too cooperative with what I was trying to…

“Maybe now that I’m 14, I don’t get tired. -Alex (He says this after saying he’s got so much energy and can’t believe he’s not tired after staying up so late). If only this was true; that the older we get the more energy we have! Why doesn’t it work this way?
