Boy Scout Ski Trip 2014::Gatlinburg, TN {Day 1 & 2}

Friday we headed out in a caravan with Drew’s troop towards Gatlingburg for a weekend of ice skating, snow tubing, skiing and more fun. We got in around 1am, handed out keys to boys, and found our way to our cozy little room.

Saturday morning we got up and shoved down some hotel breakfast before hitting the town. Who can’t go to Gatlinburg without drooling over the caramel apples, taffy, and handmade candies?

Chalet ~ Day 1 ~ Day 2 ~ Day 3 ~ Day 4

Sunday we had to rise early and get packed and clean up the chalet before the 11am check out time. We were just in the nick of time and headed out on our last day of adventures. One of the things we had wanted to do on our trip was go to Cherokee, NC, but we decided to wait until on our way home to cut down on driving time since it’s in the direction of home. Cherokee is about an hour away from Gatlinburg, but it’s a beautiful, scenic drive with several opportunities to drive through some cool tunnels like the one you see below.

The next day of trip we rolled out of bed at the crack of dawn. Wolfed down some waffles and quiche and hit the road towards Cades Cove. Cades Cove is a very popular attraction, which is about 35 miles from Gatlinburg. This isolated valley was the settling place for 100s of settlers in the 1800’s. It’s preserved homesteads, beautiful mountain views, and abundant wildlife are reasons why 2 million visitors come every year.

Our 4th Annual 4th of July Trip {the Chalet}

Day 1 ~ Day 2 ~ Day 3 ~ Day 4 ~ Day 5
This year for the 4th of July, we went further away from home to visit Gatlinburg, TN. Rob and I have fond memories of this place and it has become a place that our kids love as well. We rented a chalet up on top of Ski mountain. It was a nice, roomy place except for the kitchen and dining room. The decor is a bit outdated for those that are concerned about that. We didn’t mind. We loved the fact that 2 of the bedrooms were furnished with large jacuzzi tubs.  The main floor deck balcony had a regular outdoor jacuzzi as well.

Do you also want to watch TV in bed? You can have the best of both worlds with a TV tech bed that you will find only at a reputable shop like TV Beds Northwest! You’ll never have to worry about being too close to or far away from the TV again. Plus, you can comfortably sleep in the same bed as your partner while watching your favorite show. Enjoy a surround sound experience in your own bed with the Titan TV ottoman bed frame.
