Wednesday was a day of just hanging out and visiting. We started the day off with a trip to Denny’s for breakfast with my Granny. Then, we went back to her house and hung out for a bit. I had been waiting to hear from my Dad who we had planned to eat lunch with. We ended up picking him up from the hospital where his girlfriend was being treated for West Nile Virus. There was a Braum’s not far from there. We enjoyed ice cream, since we were still full from breakfast. When we got back and not long…

Saturday was Drew’s Boy Scout’s Troop chill at the lake day. A fun time was had by all! We enjoyed burgers and hotdogs, tubing, waster skiing, knee boarding, and fellowship. Meeting of the minds… Ummmm…ok 5 Drew on 1 tube…could get interesting! And that it did! After over an hour of joy riding, they managed to flip the tube, causing one of the guys knees to go into the cheek of another guy. The result 2 broken molars and 1 huge headache. Clark Kent Scoutmaster on Skis! Drew knee boardin’ I’ve got some videos to post from the day, but…

This past Saturday evening our Pack celebrated the accomplishments of 9 of scouts who have earned the Arrow of Light award. This year we did the ceremony at the Forest Ecology Preserve. Read what the Arrow of Light Ceremony/Award is here on the post from 2009, when the year Drew earned his arrow of light. The Boy Scouts talking over the logistics of the ceremony. The pond down the hill. Here’s Alex standing next to the stack of wood that is ready to be lit. Time to eat! Boy Scouts prepare for ceremony. Bonfire = time for ceremony Boy Scouts…

Last week, Rob was honored to be given a much deserved “District Award of Merit” for all his hard work in scouts over all. Very proud of him! I was so excited to find out he won it, because I told him “Now you can resign all your district positions! Right?” Let’s face it. My hubs is a volunteer-a-holic!

The past 3 years Drew has attended the Winter Retreat for the Youth at Shocco Springs. They usually have about 500 youth and about 100 adults go and he just loves it! Since he and his friends have started attending they always come back telling stories of God, spreading the word, and the football game…a boys vs girls football game; one for each grade level. It’s an amazing time and he always comes back on fire for God. Just love to see that in him. Well, during the same time that the youth retreat is going on, at the same…

Friday night we enjoyed our family date night in Columbus to see the Columbus Cottonmouths. They beat the Mississippi Surge 5-2. Here’s a few pics from the game. When the game concluded we were famished so we went to Carrabas for a yummy dinner. I found this quick highlight video.

This week was been a whirlwind! One of our nieces, ‘Toady,’ stayed with us this week. Her parents (Rob’s sister and her hubby) are preparing to make a big move across country, so we agreed to keep Toady, who’s the oldest of three children. Every morning we would get up and I drove her about 45 miles to her Pre-K class. I hung out at their apartment for the 3 hours that she was there and then I’d pick her up and we drove back to Auburn. It’s been fun to be able to get to know her better. She’s…

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I’ve noticed many of my blogger friends have been linking up with From Mrs. to Mama. I decided to do it as well. Picture from each year we’ve been together. 🙂

Well, I survived the Thanksgiving week. I was supposed to work 9-6 Monday and Tuesday. Saturday night, I felt drainage down in my throat, so I went to look for some cold meds, but we didn’t have exactly what I needed. I just went to bed without taking anything. Needless to say, I woke up Sunday with a sore throat. Monday, I woke up not feeling any better. In fact, I was having a hard time hacking my stuff up. I stopped by Walgreens for some Mucinex and headed on to work. Everyone was asking me what was wrong. “You’re…

…and lots of details just so I’ll remember them Here’s a collage of today’s wedding rehearsal. It was held at the Groom’s Parents house. I was very impressed by how Nikki and Chris started the rehearsal off. They thanked everyone for coming and Nikki went around and told everyone’s name. Then, Chris went expressed the need for everyone to get along and basically said that if you have something negative to say to keep your mouth shut! I loved it! The night went very smoothly and after all the details were mulled over and the walking was practiced….several times, we…

If you missed Day 1 of our trip read here. Day 2 of our trip to the North Georgia Mountains was filled with seeing the train leave, a “Farmer’s Market,” walking around Downtown Blue Ridge, a parade, visiting Mercier’s Orchards, lots of good food, and hanging out around the cabin. Blue Ridge Scenic Railway The gang walking to the downtown area from our free parking spots. 🙂 Abby doesn’t like that she has to look into the sun to take pics. Lake Martin is man-made; formed by the construction of Martin Dam on the Tallapoosa River. It spans across Alabama counties: Tallapoosa, Elmore and Coosa. A 44,000-acre lake with over 750 miles of beautifully wooded shoreline. Lake Martin is a great place to swim, boat, fish, water ski, and camp. It’s a great quick getaway for many Alabama residents, especially those in Auburn. Source With it only being about a 30 minute drive from our house, it makes for a great day trip. This year our friends invited us back to Lake Martin for a Memorial Day celebration. Some other friends…

My Grandmother passed away last Friday, so I’ve been very busy driving to Texas and back. I’ll be trying to catch up on all my posts as I have time. Below are a few of my favorite pictures of her. More pics here. Obituary

Here’s the entire Wells family (minus my 2 brothers on that side of the family). We ate at Joe T. Garcia’s after leaving Grandmother’s visitation at the funeral home. Joe T’s is my Uncle Guy’s favorite place to eat, but it’s been years since I’ve been. It’s an amazing place. Beautiful scenery, fountains, greenery. Highly recommended. More pics coming soon.

We drove down the night before and spent the night at the Comfort Inn in Weeki Wachee. Got up the next morning and dropped Drew off with Rob’s Gramma and headed to the Pier. It’s always so exciting. Never gets old seeing those towering ships! Here’s Drew with his Uncle Nick at dinner the first night. It also never gets old enjoying all the food…”free” food! Remembering fine details of this trip have been a bit of a challenge, but I’ll do my best to recount this as accurately as I can. So we docked in Cozumel and had decided…

This cruise was planned a little while after we found out we were expecting our 2nd child. We wanted to go ahead and bring Drew on a cruise, because we knew it would probably be quite awhile before we got to take him on one. Rob’s Mom and Step Dad joined us, which was nice. This trip was taken in October over a long weekend with a Columbus Day Holiday. We opted for a 3 day Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas and the private island, Coco Cay. We left Thursday night and drove down to Orlando. We spent the…

This weekend has been fashioned from traditions that we’ve started, enjoying each others company, searching for a tree, cutting it down at Lakeside Tree Farm. Then, heading to Columbus to eat at Chef Lee’s. Coming home to watch the SEC & ACC Championship games. The next day we finished decorating the tree and putting up the other decorations, enjoyed a warm fire, and watched our favorite Christmas movie of all time, Christmas Vacation! Looking forward to having a wonderful Christmas embraced by love and tradition.

I wrote three posts last year about my Christmas decorations. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Christmas trees 2000 2004 2005 2006 2009 Here’s a pic of Drew in our other house with the bare tree, waiting to decorate it.

I wrote a few years ago about my traditions I had growing up, but not sure I’ve talked about the traditions we’ve started with our family. 1.) Choosing & cutting down a real Christmas tree ourselves Growing up, I never had a real tree. So now that I’ve been in Auburn for 14 Christmases every year we’ve had a real tree. We love the Virginia Pines, but there was a year that those were hard to find around here, so we settled for a Cyprus. We now have a place that we go to every year with a hayride through…
