    Fix-It Friday: #14 Ponytail Princess

Original – “Ponytail Princess” Here’s my “fixed” version. Using CS4, I cropped the picture. Then I played with curves to help with the exposure. Then, I unmasked the eyes and used the dodge tool. I increased the vibrance to bring out the color. I uploaded into Picnik, where I went into Create and did the Effect called Orton-ish. I decided to use that effect because it made the colors a little brighter and softened the photograph. From there I went to Edit and did Rotate. Then, back under Create in Frames, I did Rounded Edges

    May 18-22 Menu

I go through phases where I just don’t feel motivated to plan, cook, plan to cook…well you get the point. But when I don’t plan, I tend to stick with frozen pizzas and hamburger helper, so I’m thinking I need to get back into my planning mode starting this week (keeping my fingers crossed that I can stick with it.) Monday Dinner – Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Garlic Breadsticks Tuesday Dinner – Creamy Basil Parmesan Chicken Pasta Wednesday Dinner – Homemade Pizza & Salad Thursday Dinner – Chimichangas Friday Dinner – Leftovers Saturday Breakfast – Waffles & Bacon Lunch…

    Fix-It Friday: #13 Little Beauty

Original – “Little Beauty” Here’s my “fixed” version. Using CS4, I cropped the picture. Then I played with curves to help with the exposure. I increased the vibrance to bring out the color. I rotated it some (I’m really into angles lately). I smoothed out the dirt on her arms and face and reduced the noise to help with the dirt too. I added some warmth to the picture (colors>yellow).

    Dancing Daze

I was reading Rae Ann’s blog yesterday and she had a post about her daughter in dance costumes. Seeing those, just took me back. In fact, it did so much that I decided to pull out the old photo albums and scan pictures. I started dancing at age 3 or 4. I went to Tracy Dee’s Dance Studio and loved it. My Dad was a freelance photographer at the time, so he took the pics for the studio and as you’ll see he took pics at our recitals. This is just an assortment of pictures I have. For some reason,…

    He’s a Winner!

Last Friday Drew’s school held their annual Bash N Dash. We’ve actually never gone, because there’s always something going on. I was happy that we got to make it this year especially since it’s his last year there. They have a 1 mile fun run and 5K. Drew decided to do the 5K. His first race and he WON! He was the fastest kid in his school. Do I see a track star in my future? 🙂 See a few more pics here

Part 1 Kitchen Renovations: New Appliances

Over at Kelly’s Blog she’s doing a weekly post to share different rooms of her house. I know other’s have done the Home Tours post, which I’ve wanted to do. We’ve been in this house 2 years come May 15th and we knew when we bought it there was a lot we wanted to do with the home. It had some updates that we really like and a few additions also. The first thing we knew we would have to conquer was the kitchen. I believe at some point the kitchen was redone, but it’s very 70’s feeling and just…

    Part 2 Kitchen Renovations: Cabinets

So the next thing on our to do list for the kitchen was to do something with the GAWD awful cabinets. We have a friend, Tony, that is into woodworking and he agreed to make new doors for out cabinets. To complement this , Gamma Cabinetry does kitchen remodeling. As you can see from the pictures, the actual cabinets are in good shape, but they’re a dark brown. This is the reason why we hire a residential kitchen spray painting to touch up our cabinets, which will complement our kitchen. The doors are particalboard covered in a manilla-colored laminate with…

    Soccer Tourney 2009::Peachtree City, GA

Last weekend we were in Peachtree City for a soccer tournament. I actually didn’t go up there till Saturday afternoon, because I was photographing a horse show. I was able to make it for the swim party and watched the game on Sunday. The kids had a blast in the pool even though the adults thought the water was way too cold to even think about getting in! Vet School Open House 2009

Saturday we went to the Auburn University Vet School Open House. They have it every year and we’ve never been. It was really fun. Lots to do and see for free! Another reason to love living in a college town. Agility Demonstration Llama, llama, llama in the petting zoo Another animal in the petting zoo; the Alpaca Green Tree Python in the snake exhibit Sheep herding. This was so awesome to see how these Border Collies can control these sheep. Since we have a Herding dog, a Corgi, it was fun to imagine our dog doing this. Here they painted…

    Conversation

On the way to playgroup the other day, this was the conversation that ensued: Alex: Mom, I know babies come out of their mom’s tummies, but how do they get out? Me: (*Thinking* Oh geez. Why is he asking me this?!) Mommies have to push them out really hard. Alex: How? Me: With lots of determination and they have to be strong. Alex: But how do they come out? Me: (*Thinking* uhhh, how can I get around not saying where babies come out? Just not wanting to get into all that while driving down the road.) Mommies just have to…

Drew earns the Arrow of Light

Arrow of Light award is the highest award in Cub Scouts earned by Webelos. Part of the requirements to earn this award is to help them choose which boy scout troop they would like to cross over to as well the Scout badge, which will be warn on their new boy scout uniform in the spot where they put their rank. We’re so very proud of Drew for earning this award and even happier that he’s chosen to crossover to boy scouts. He will be in Troop 15. We have our ceremony on the property of one of our scouts…

    More fun with Playgroup

Today we got to go to the AU airport. Alex got to sit in an older Cessna, which the university owns a slew of them. They are used for the Aviation School at Auburn. Living in Auburn for 13 years, you would think I’ve had an opportunity to go the airport, but have never had a need to go. I’m so glad we went, because I learned a couple things and it was neat to see the students take off in those planes. A couple things I learned, I’ll share those with you. They have a couple small jets that…
