    Weekend fun

Monday is my older son’s 8th birthday…sheesh!! I can’t believe it. Nothing like waiting to the last minute! So I’ve spent my afternoon calling moms to invite their sons to come over for a party. Not only a party, but a ‘spend the night party’! Yes, I think I’ve gone CRAZY! They’re being dropped off at our house tomorrow before lunch and then, we’re headed to a surprise for Drew. The Moms know, but the boys don’t know because we wanted it to be a surprise. Oh, and did I mention I have a math workshop that I’m required to…

    2nd Grade Disappointment

Friday night, Drew said, “Mom, you gotta look in my folder. There’s something important in there!” I asked him to bring it to me and I found an envelope with his full name printed neatly on the front. I opened it up as a large lump found it’s home on my throat. I was pretty nervous with anticipation! Inside were 2 blue sheets of paper. One was a letter from his teacher, Ms. B, which said she would be taking a leave of absence to seek medical treatment and proper recovery. Ms. B had been out quite a bit before…

    1st Post of 2006!

Hope everyone survived the New Year’s festivities. 😀 I didn’t post yesterday, because I was so bummed about going back to work today. Yesterday, I got off to a *great* start (not following my goals) by having a fish fry. Rob fried out catfish, fries, and hush puppies. Yum! Today I had to make the trek back to work. Not only was I bummed because going back to work is depressing and we’re having to work on a FEDERAL HOLIDAY, but I was going to miss the Auburn Bowl Game. Well, as it turns out we were able to leave…

    Exhausted!

I’m so tired. Today was a productive day! Yes, I say that with excitement because this week I’ve done pretty much…nothing. So today I had to get up early and take Drew to the dentist. He HATES going to the dentist, but he survived it and had NO cavities! Yay! They did say in 6 months when we go back they’ll probably have to pull some teeth, because he has lots of crowding going on. He will need braces regardless, but the pulling of teeth will help “cut the cost” when it does come time. The cost of braces will…

    This is Priceless

Ok, so Drew or Rob usually feed the dog. We have a big Rubbermaid container at the bottom of the pantry where we keep her food. We keep a plastic cup in there to pour the food into the bowl with. So tonight I’m just sitting here and I hear the clanging of dog food in the metal bowl. I look to my left and see Rob and Drew sitting on the couch. I look to my right in the kitchen and see Alex feeding the dog! How cute is that! And now that I’ve typed this he has gone…

    Christmas Traditions

Lisanne (blog now removed) recently wrote a beautiful post about Christmas traditions. It’s great having wonderful family traditions to look back on. Christmas was always my Grandfather’s favorite time of year. Each year as we decorate the house with all of our decorations, tears roll down my face as I think about Granddad and how he would get into the Christmas spirit. He had such a generous heart and he loved to buy for others. It didn’t matter what he got, because he got such a thrill when Grandmother and I were excited about our gifts. Some family traditions that…

    My Experience at Riverdance

For those that know me well know that my love for dancing is profound. I started dancing when I was 3 years old. I danced up through high school on the dance/kick squad. So watching the dancers come out and dance their hearts out evoked such a great emotion. The first dance struck such deep emotions that tears trickled from my eyes. With each tear that dropped, the emotion I felt in the pit of my stomach grew stronger and stronger. Thoughts of high school dancing days ran through my head as I watched. Memories of the bright stadium lights…

    Weekend in Midtown, Atlanta

Friday night after dropping the kids off at the in-laws’, Rob took me to the very charming Dante’s Down the Hatch. They are a fondue restaurant that has a setting created to look like a ship tied to a wharf. You pay more to be on the ship, because that’s where you hear and see the live jazz. Rob had reservations to be on the ship, which was really nice and romantic. We had a one sided booth that looked over the ship. The inside of the restuarant is just amazing. There is water under the ship and that’s the…

    Randomness

Rob left this morning 5 am to go to Atlanta for business. So I got up after he left and got some stuff done around the house. I had to get to work later than normal because I had to get Drew on the bus and then take Alex to daycare. I got my hair cut today. You know I can’t find anyone in these twin cities that I want to keep going to. I’ve had my hair butchered too many times. But the girl I went to today was good and very thorough in showing me and explaining to…

    Rainbow of Fruit Flavors

Drew has a paint set with all sorts of paint, paint brushes, paint sponges, and an apron. Undoubtedly, this was a gift from a loving grandparent :-). He painted with it tonight. I helped him clean it up, but I know I will be seeing colors for weeks everywhere! My house can now be called the house of Rainbow of fruit flavors since it will be tracked from one end to the other!
