Memories of the Month {5.2020}

By | May 31, 2020

Memories of the Month - Here's a great idea for wrapping up the month with a set of questions to remember how your last month with. I love going back and reading through what happened throughout the years.

This month I was happy about: to be done with Kayleigh getting spayed. Now that her stitches out she is so happy to be able to run and play outside.

This month I was sad about: all the sadness and violence in our country right now.

This year I’m going to rate the books & movies. Here’s my rating system:
♥ ♥ = Love it! A must read/see!
♥ = Really good! Highly recommend.
✓ ✓ = Good, not great
✓ = Not much to talk about
X = Awful. Total waste of time

Movies I watched were:
Jerry Maguire ✓ ✓ Rob and I hadn’t seen this in years, but we watched it for family movie night. Too much cussing and really pretty depressing. I mean I love the ending but still.
Steve Jobs ✓ ✓
Raiders of the Lost Ark ✓ ✓

TV Shows I watched were:
New Amsterdam (NBC) ♥ ♥
Good Girls (NBC) ♥ ♥
The Baker and the Beauty (ABC) ♥
Dead to Me (Season 2 – just started)
Sweet Magnolias (Netflix) – not too many episodes in, so far ✓

Rob and I watched:
A Million Little Things ♥ ♥
FBI ♥
Survivor ♥
9-1-1 ✓ ✓
The Good Doctor ♥ ♥
Blue Bloods ♥
NCIS NO ✓ ✓
Last Man Standing – reruns bc my husband loves this darn show!
Young Sheldon ♥
NCIS ✓ ✓
The Conners ✓ ✓
MacGyver ♥
America’s Got Talent ✓ ✓

Things I read:
Reading lots of Garden blogs. Googling lots of info about gardening. Trying to keep up with all my favorite blog on bloglovin’. No books though. 🙁

Podcasts I listened to:
Serial Podcast – Season 1 ✓ ✓
Serial Podcast – Season 2 ✓ ✓

My favorite song this month was: Peace Be Still by Hope Darst

What I remember about work was: continuing to work from home even after the 2nd date of “reconsideration.” I’m still going in every 7th business day. We did get 8 students to start coming in on May 18th. We allowed swipe access for faculty and grad students as of that date.

A lesson I learned this month was: having nice outdoor furniture can really be more inviting

A friend and I: saw each other when we helped her move a hot tub!

My favorite pic that I took was:
5.3.2020_Cherokee_Ridge_South_Loop.09
This is not a great pic compositionally, but I love that this pic is taken just a short drive from my house. We are so lucky to have such beautiful places to hike and explore.

The favorite thing I cooked was: porkloins and pork chops in the Instant Pot are amazing! I plan to share recipes soon.

Drew: started working for the library systems department, but this time it’s virtually. He’s been asking since he got done with school to cook dinner. A couple weeks ago he just cooked kabobs on the grill and it was so good!

Alex was: finished his 10th grade year at home because of COVID 19.

Rob was: trying to make some changes to our wifi to help it be faster.

The thing I’ll remember most from this month was: getting my first harvest of lettuce and herbs and seeing my first tomatoes fruit. They’re still small, but they’re sprouting and growing.

Your young tomatoes are adorable. Like Barbie-sized veggies. We have peaches over here to match. Hope our peaches will be as delicious as they were a few years ago.

Do you know the blogger Nikki Gwin? Her blog is mostly about gardening. I think the name of the blog has recently changed so I can’t remember it to share with you. But I am sure you would enjoy her posts.

We just invested in new patio furniture at PC’s reluctance. But our backyard is so much more attractive and enticing now. I want to be out there all the time. And when I am not out there, I am looking out the window at our space!!

We watch so many of the same shows!! (And I’d give them similar ratings too). I am so jealous of all your veggies. I have tried for years to grow a few plants in pots and other than a few batches of basil never ended up with much of anything for all our work. I just can not keep plants alive.

Our gardens are certainly benefitting from all the extra time we are spending in them! We actually picked some strawberries from the garden yesterday – boy did they taste delicious, there’s something about eating something you’ve grown yourself isn’t there?
Interesting to see your tv/film ratings, we share similar tastes! I’ve just finished Dead to Me season two … looks like there may be a season three to be made sometime in the future!
