I think summer is a great time to try new recipes. For us there’s less evening activities and that means I can come home and not have to run here and there before settling in to cook dinner. These French Onion Sliders are so amazing. I’ve seen several other bloggers do similar recipes, so it has been on my recipe bucket list. What I love about these sliders is that you can just use good ole hamburger meat. You don’t have to have the more expensive beef cuts which is great for the wallet.
The beefy flavored butter topping that you lather on the buns is the perfect touch to take these sliders from good to mind-blowing! This is a technique that can be used on other recipes, and I definitely plan to.
Servings: 24
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes
Ingredients:
1 stick of butter (8 tbs.)
2 large sweet onions, chopped
2 pounds ground beef
2 tbs. beef base (I used Better than Boullion)
1 tbs. Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper
24 slider buns
1 lb. shredded cheese (mozzarella or pepper jack)
2 tbs. sesame seeds
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
Directions:
1. While you have your oven preheating to 350°, melt a couple tablespoons of butter along with the onions on medium heat in a skillet. Reduce heat to low and allow onion to caramelize and soften. Once the onions are soft.
2. In a bowl combine ground meat and 1 tablespoons beef base and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire. Add in salt and pepper.
3. Add the beef to the pan and combine with the onions. Put heat up to medium and high and brown meat. Once brown drain off the grease.
4. On a baking sheet, spread out tops and bottoms of slider buns. Spread the meat and onion mixture evenly over the bottom parts of the buns. Top with cheese and place tops on buns.
5. Melt butter and 1 tablespoon of beef base in a microwave safe bowl. Stir in tablespoon of Worcestershire and a couple dashes of garlic powder. Brush the butter mixture over the top of the buns with a brush. Sprinkle sesame seeds over top and bake for about 20 minutes.
I served these with fresh cut fries, but you could also go with a healthier option like this corn.
