    While going through all the stuff I got from my Grandmother’s house, I came across a book with a lot of my stuff from school. Seeing these Thanksgiving projects brought back many memorable memories and I just had to share them. My turkey from 2nd grade (I think) My Thanksgiving letter from 1st grade. Not sure why I wrote it God, but ok. 🙂 Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    Things I Love About Thanksgiving

    It’s Thanksgiving we and I’m really glad. These days many people put up there Christmas trees after Halloween. Christmas music is being played on the radio and of course, you can’t go to a store with out being overwhelmed by Christmas decorations. My family still chooses to wait to decorate until the 1st week of December. Having a real Christmas tree, it’s really not a good idea to put it up until then. With all that being said, I still love and enjoy lots of things about Thanksgiving and the month of November should be a time to be thankful.…

    Colonial Day

    Family Friday {Colonial Day} Since Alex is in 5th grade, it was the year to have Colonial Day. I bought Drew a Colonial Outfit back when he was in 5th grade and for him it was almost too small. So needless to say, I was concerned that Alex was too big for it. A couple nights before Colonial Day he tried it on and it fit! I was so happy. I love to see pics of the boys side-by-side at the same age.

    Taco Joes

    The other night I was seriously craving tacos and when I looked in the pantry we didn’t have any tortillas or any taco shells. I always think back to the days when I used to go to Taco Bueno, when they had the yummiest Taco sandwiches. I looked to see if we had any buns, which we did. I was in business! My family was totally making fun of me, but once they tried it there mouths were too stuffed to say anything. Servings: 4-6 Prep Time: 5 minutes Cooking Time: 25 minutes Ingredients: 1 1/2 lbs. of ground beef…

    Southwest Casserole

    Those of you who know me well, know I’m a big fan of Mexican food. This Southwest Casserole is a great spin on some of my favorite Tex-Mex recipes. Beef, black beans, corn, and tortilla chips…Yep, that’s all I needed to hear. This is another great recipes that can be made ahead of time or if not, it can easily be whipped up in less than an hour. Servings: 6 Prep Time: 15 minutes Cooking Time: 25 minutes Ingredients: 2 lbs. ground beef 1 chopped onion 1 can spicy chili beans 1 can black beans 16 oz. corn (drained) 15…

    Memories of the Month {10.2014}

    This month I was happy about: being done with Thunder pics for another year. This month I was sad because of: of things I’d rather not talk about here. Something I accomplished this month was: making some big decisions about this blog.

    Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bars

    I love these Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bars. Now I will preface this by saying I don’t love Pumpkin Pie, so I have found it’s the Pumpkin Pie spice that is the whole reason why. Consequently, I just leave that spice out when making stuff that asks for it. I never realized how adding pumpkin makes cake so moist. Try these next time your in the mood for a sweet treat and have your house smelling amazing while doing so. Servings: 24 bars Prep Time: 15 minutes Cooking Time: 30 minutes Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tbs. pumpkin-pie spice (I…

    At the Farm

    Family Friday {At the Farm edition} A few weekends ago my family and I enjoyed part of our Saturday at our friend’s Tony farm. Most years we go and hang out with Mr. Tony. It’s always a fun-filled day. The guys work hard cutting up firewood to use in our fire places, but then are rewarded by getting to play, too! Caitlyn, Drew’s girlfriend came along too. She was not at all afraid to swing that maul. Mr. Tony’s has lots of pretty herding dogs. I love being out in the fresh air and Mr. Tony’s there’s always lots of…

    Minute Maid Park {Houston, TX}

    Today for my Places I’ve Been… series, I’m taking you Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. I’ll admit that the home of the Astros is not the most picturesque ballpark I’ve ever been to, but it does have a couple of cool features. Out in the outfield is a train that runs along an 800 foot long track, which is always exciting for the kids to see when it moves from one side to the other. Lovers of the Minute Maid park also enjoy that this stadium has a retractable roof. When we were there is was 100+ degrees outside,…

    Pizza Dough You Can Toss {Bread Machine}

    When I found this pizza dough recipe at first I was like, “Oh, I don’t need another pizza dough recipe.” But then, I just realized this one had a few less ingredients than the other Pizza Dough Recipe that I usually use, so I decided to give it a shot. When I started rolling it out, something made me pick it up and start stretching it out with my fists and I tossed it up. It tossed beautifully! I was kind-a pumped. 🙂 Servings: 1-2 pizzas Prep Time: 1 and half hours (bread machine time) Cooking Time: 30 minutes Ingredients:…

    Atlanta Midtown Getaway

    This Fall Rob had a work conference in Atlanta. I decided to take a couple days off and go with him. His conference was right near the campus of Georgia Tech. We enjoyed our stay at the Renaissance Atlanta Midtown. This is such a great location for site-seeing by foot, which is what I did during the day while he was working. The hotel had all the necessary amenities as well as some other perks, like free wine every afternoon and a concierge that was more than helpful in suggesting unique places to eat. After arriving Sunday afternoon, getting checked…

    Bacon Pizza {Homemade}

    The other night, I had some cooked bacon that I needed to use before it went bad. I also had some homemade dough in the fridge, so this homemade bacon pizza came to mind. It turned out amazingly! Who doesn’t bacon? Who doesn’t love bacon? I put this pizza down, turned around to get a drink, and there were just 2 pieces left! Next time, I’ll know to make a double batch. Servings: 4 Prep Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 30 minutes Ingredients: Fresh dough or refrigerated dough 1 jar of pizza sauce (I use homemade sauce) 3 cups of…

    Homecoming 2014

    How did Drew ask Caitlyn to homecoming? Drew and his beautiful date, Caitlyn, both looked amazing for Homecoming 2014 a few weeks ago. We met up with another couple that they were going to homecoming with for pictures at a hidden spot on campus that not too many people know about called Memorial Gardens.

    Life Lately #10…

    Again, another month with no “Life Lately” update. So here we go. I am so far behind on updating yall on life. I’ve been so busy trying to pump out my weekly menus and new recipes that other stuff as fell by the way side. I decided for the month of October, there will be no Weekly Menus. I hope to resume those sometime in November.

    Pizza Roll-Ups

    I couldn’t make roll-ups without trying a pizza version. These are so easy and versatile. They can easily be personalized for each person, which I just love. I was right when I said Pizza would probably be my family’s favorite! Servings: 6 Prep Time: 5 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Ingredients: Your favorite pizza toppings (Pepperoni, ground sausage, onions, green bell peppers, etc.) Jar of Pizza Sauce 1 cup of Mozzarella cheese 1 pkg. (14 oz.) refrigerated pizza crust (I used my homemade dough)

    I’m starting a new series to take my Thursday spot, since I retired Kent-ography. A few weeks ago I came to discover back when I started my blog, I didn’t post pictures or really talk about trips much. I decided I want to have all those memories on here and share all the “Places I’ve Been!”

    Sausage, Shrimp, And Spinach Bowl

    While in Atlanta a few weeks ago, Rob and I enjoyed a meal at Steamhouse Lounge. We got the Sausage, Shrimp, And Spinach dip, that was absolutely killer! That dip inspired this meal. After my initial time making it, I plan to tweak it, which I’ve noted in the directions below. Servings: 4 Prep Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 25 minutes Ingredients: 1/2 cup of Velveeta cheese 1 box of cream cheese (8 oz.) 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 cup of Mexican shredded cheese 1/2 lb. smoked sausage 8 oz. of shrimp (I used the tiny salad shrimp)…

    40 by 40 {a list}

    Yesterday was a big birthday for me. I’ve entered my last year in my 30’s. **cringe!** My 40th birthday is in spitting distance. 🙁 So I decided to make a list of 40 things to accomplish this year. I plan to mark them off my list as I do them and may even write blog posts about many of them. So here they are…
