Fall is my absolute favorite, so I was thrilled to see this delightful mix of questions all centered around the season.

1. Fall officially rolls into the Northern Hemisphere on Monday (9/22)…what’s your favorite thing about fall?
I love all things fall.
Cooler temps that whisper rest,
leaves turning like pages in a story,
football weekends wrapped in team spirit and fleece,
Halloween magic…masks, moonlight, and mischief,
and the gentle crescendo of it all.
Thanksgiving, where gratitude gathers around the table.

2. What’s one thing on your real or proverbial autumn bucket list?
Here’s a Fall Bucket list that I made in 2020:

I also did one back in 2014.

3. Apples, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and cranberries are some of the top fall foods. Which one is your favorite and how do you like it prepared? Any on the list you don’t eat? Which one have you had most recently? And YES to all the fall foods! Here’s some of my go to recipes for fall:
Praline Sweet Potatoes
Sweet Potato Chips
Apple Dumplins
Baked Cinnamon Apples
Homemade Cinnamon Applesauce (Slow Cooker)

4. ‘Fall is proof that change is beautiful’ is a popular sentiment. Would you agree or no? Elaborate.
Yes! Fall shows that change can be gradual, vibrant, and even welcome. Not all change feels easy, but the season reminds us that transitions can bring clarity, color, and renewal.

5. Is there a spot near you where people go to see the leaves change color? Will you try to leaf peep somewhere this fall? Lonely Planet lists the following ten places as the best for leaf peeping…of those listed which would you most like to visit?

Stowe, Vermont ~ Shenandoah National Park, Virginia ~ Columbia River Gorge, Oregon ~ Zion National Park, Utah ~ Tennessee/North Carolina border ~ West Virginia ~ Northwestern Wyoming ~ Wisconsin Northwoods ~ Northern Nevada ~ Ozark Highlands Scenic Byway, Arkansas

Funny timing…someone new to town recently asked me the same thing: where to catch the most beautiful fall colors. I’ve actually been working on a post (or two!) about that very topic, so stay tuned in the coming weeks…just in time for peak autumn magic.

6. Insert your own random thought here. Some of my favorite quotes about fall:
“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.” — Jim Bishop
“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” — L.M. Montgomery

  1. It’s nice to see you in the HP! I didn’t pick apples this year, but if I can get to the orchard this week I still might. If not I’ll buy them in the market and make some apple goodies. I love baked apples especially. We have plans to drive up the nearby mountains for lunch one day in another week. I’m looking forward to seeing some color as we have a lot of pines around the lake.
