    Happy Birthday, Alex!

Today Alex is 7! WOW! It seems like I was just saying that about Drew. I hope to write something more substantial later, but right now I’m still recovering from being gone for 3 days. See list of all birthday posts.

    Happy birthday, Drew!

So today is Drew’s birthday and yes, he is a teenager! I’m not sure if I start feeling light-headed when I think of that, because it makes me feel old or because it seems like yesterday, I couldn’t wait to meet our first born. The other day, I had kind of this out of body experience. I was sitting in my Lazy Boy chair in the living room, where I usually sit when I’m in the living room. The boys were on the couch watching TV together. I had the weirdest picture appear in my head and I’m not sure…

    Birthday Shortcake

Just a quick shot of Drew before he started to eat his strawberry shortcake. The weekend was a bit busier than I had anticipated and I didn’t get a chance to make his cake, so while we were at Publix picking up shrimp for his birthday dinner, I let him pick out a dessert. I still plan to make him a cake. For my memory’s sake, here’s what we did on his birthday: Sunday School Church Lunch at his chosen place, Shogun Auburn vs. Tennessee Basketball women (we lost) Cooked fried shrimp and fries for his birthday dinner Opened presents…

    My 35th Birthday

So last week was my 35th birthday. I was treated to cupcakes from Gigi’s Cupcakes in Auburn. Since I’m working more than I’m not, practically, we waited till the weekend to go out. We were up in Birmingham for soccer on Sunday, so I got to pick something different. I first thought about Chipotle, but when we went in, we were surprised to see it wasn’t a sit down restaurant. It’s an inexpensive, walk up, and order type place. Then we went over to The Summit, where I spotted Chuy’s. Oh, I adore that restaurant! Only been 1 time to…

    Happy Birthday, Granddad!

Today would have been my Granddad’s 86th birthday! May is such a difficult month for me for so many reason, which I won’t get into right now. One reason is this, that Granddad was born and passed in May. I have so many great pictures of him that are still left to scan, but here’s a few of him (in no order). Granddaddy at Christmas when my Dad was a teenager My Grandfather and me at Christmas Granddad dressed up in Mexican attire, not sure why Granddad and Me when I was expecting Drew Granddad, his sister, and Parents Me…

    Six…

How can it be? I just swoon when I see this pic of my little guy. How I miss the tiny-ness of holding a newborn. There’s nothing holding a little piece of you. Someone you created… Someone; a baby that grew inside of you. Someone that relies on you 100%… There’s just nothing like it! Happy birthday, Alex! Love you…….

    Party {eight 12 year olds}

I’ve had this post about half way done for awhile and am finally making myself finish. We did our traditional sleepover for Drew’s birthday. 8 boys came this year. They were really loud and rambunctious for the first few hours, but when it was time to ‘chill’ they did! They watched The Goonies and loved it! Each year we notice a little differing conversations and focuses of the party. This year they were really into throwing the football, texting each other their cell phones, and (as I stick my fingers in my ears) talking about girls. I wished I had…

    Happy Birthday, Alex!

I was going to write a nice post about my younger child, but it has been literally a NON-stop day! So I’ll just let the pictures do the talking for now. Can’t believe he’s FIVE!

    Alex’s 4th Birthday

We celebrated Alex’s birthday the weekend after his birthday with some of Rob’s family. We went to one of his and our favorite restaurants, Durango (Mexican). Here he is blowing out his candles. For his 4th birthday, he got lots of Auburn stuff as you can see when if you click on the pic above. He also finally got a bookshelf for his room.

    Survived!

Well we survived the sleep over. It went great. I think they all had a great time. Lights out was at 2 am, but that didn’t stop many of them from staying up ALL NIGHT! So they were all zonked this morning when I was cooking homemade waffles and bacon. Rob and I got a couple hours of sleep. I’m thinking I’m going to head off to take a nap here in a few. You can see pics here!

    9 years old going on…

14! Yes, that’s my older boy. Drew is such a teenager already. He’s got the attitude, the eye-rolling, the moodiness, and he’s nearing the hormone surges. He watches shows like The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Zoey 101 (who he’s in love with), and Drake and Josh (which is my favorite of the 3). He’s wearing deodorant and is to the point where he needs to learn to wash his face and start using products like Noxema and Cleaaisil. Oh, I can smell it now… This is something I’ve been wanting to write about all summer, but tonight we…

    Alex turns THREE tomorrow!

This is the day he went home. Believe it or not, this outfit was for newborns, but it swallowed him up! Where has the time gone? I can’t believe three years have passed already. In so many ways though, his birth and the whole labor and delivery process seems like a dream, like it never happened. I think back to that day and it’s hard to fathom that I went through that agonizing pain. It’s crazy how time tends to dampen the feelings you go through the day a child is born. When you’re in the moment, everything is vivid…
