New York 2023:Day 2

By | September 23, 2023

Here we are for another travel journal. Today continuing on with our New York trip. If you missed Day 1, you can read about that here >>> Day 1

Here’s all about our 2nd day! We had planned on breakfast at a spot called the Big Tomato, but when we drove over there we saw the sign on the door that said “Cash Only” so we left. From there Rob found an Italian bakery not too far away, so we indulge in some amazing.

After pasta the night before and then this yumminess…I was killing my normal eating routine, but it was all so good. My stomach wasn’t too sure about it, that’s for sure!

Our big event for the day was a Yankees game. We drove to the Bronx for the Yankees game.

We were following the GPS to our parking spot we had reserved ahead of time. It was the craziest thing though. We got off at the exit, turned, and boom! There’s Yankee Stadium right in front of us! This is one of the pics I snapped at that point.

We parked in the underground parking at SP+ 200 E 161 St, Bronx, NY 10451. This worked out great. In the daytime, this was a really decent area. We felt save. And if you ever decide to park there, there is a bathroom in the grocery store there (Food Bazaar), because you know public restrooms are hard to find in big city areas.

We had about a 10 minute (1/2 mile) walk from where we parked. Here’s the view as we started seeing the stadium.

This was our 2nd time to go to Yankee stadium, but first time for an actual game. In 2018, we went for a tour at Yankee Stadium.

We were meeting up with a guy Rob does business with as he is works for a vendor that Auburn uses; Jeff. They met during COVID meeting up over Zoom. They realized that they are both huge baseball fans because of their home offices that were decorated in baseball memorabilia. Jeff is from Massachusetts, just a couple hour drive to NYC. He brought his family. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any pictures of together. Darn it!

There was a short rain delay during the game, but luckily they got the rest of the game completed.

We walked back to our car. Rob has wanted to drive in Manhattan, so we headed that way. Here’s a cool apple seat, we saw on our way back to the car.

So yeah, it was the perfect combination that allowed it to not be so terrible to drive in Manhattan. Rainy and it was Sunday evening. This was just the one opportunity where we’d have a rental car while we were in/near New York City.

We didn’t park anywhere in Manhattan. We just drove around and then headed to NJ to our hotel for where we were staying during Rob’s conference.

Pizza at Nonna Marie’s pizza 560 Union Blvd Totowa, NJ 07512. We got the Meatlovers (ham, bacon, sausage, meatball, pepperoni) Pizza. One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had or maybe it’s because I haven’t had “real dough crust” pizza in a long time. Man, just thinking about it makes me hungry.

Loved that we heard the family that was there working talking in Italian as they made our pizza.

Such a great day with Rob and friends!

So fun that the fellas bonded over the decor in their home offices during Covid Zoom calls. I love that. Your photos are frame worthy. Maybe you could frame one of the stadium for your husband’s study. Paul loves baseball, too. And his office reflects his love of the Cincinatti Reds.

Oh, I want to go to another game at Yankee Stadium. We went to one but had to leave in the 4th inning because Sam was getting a migraine. And I want a redo! Preferably when they’re playing the Blue Jays!!!
