After our Texas visits and driving from Huntsville, TX to Baton Rouge, LA, we enjoyed spending time with Rob’s family (his cousin and her husband and their 8 kids).
The kids enjoyed playing basketball.
Sitting around the fire since it was a little chili out.
We all piled around the table for a New Years Day meal at one of our favorite cajun restaurants, Chimes! That always makes the folks that don’t get cajun food that often very, very happy.
And of course before heading home we got all the 2nd cousins together for a group pic.
On our way home we decided to make a stop in New Orleans for a couple hours.
We enjoyed watching the street performers. We’ve seen these guys on America’s Got Talent.
We came across this eclectic group of musicians.
As well as these guys who were right in front of St. Louis Cathedral.
I mean seriously…Even in this gloomy looking weather this view of Jackson Square never gets old!
Lots of people in New Orleans!
We had never been inside the St. Louis Cathedral before and it’s just as beautiful.
We asked where to get po-boys for less than an arm and leg and we ended up at Court Tavern Po-Boys
After that we walked around some more and wanted to cleanse our palette with some beignets.
We ended up getting beignets at Cafe Beignet. Cafe Dumonde had a mile long line that we weren’t going to stand in, so we found this place and it probably turned out better because they have live jazz!
