Today I’m covering another travel post from my archives that never got written about. Last week I wrote about Two Must-Sees in Huntsville, AL for Taphophiles Today I’m sharing a little about a beautiful park and hiking trail called Green Mountain Nature Trail a.k.a. Madison County Nature Trail.
5000 Nature Trail Rd SE
Huntsville, AL 35803
If you enjoy getting out in undisturbed nature this is a spot for you to see if ever in the Huntsville, AL area. The 1.5 mile loop around the 6-acre Sky lake is beautiful and quiet. There are additional side trails that branch from the main loop.
As you enter on to the trail you’ll see the directional sign. It is a loop so you’ll end up seeing everything.
You also get a view of the bridge from across the lake.
Check out this beautiful A-frame chapel.
This fairly flat and easy trail has good signage and is a great hike for beginners.
The trail crosses the Cambron Covered Bridge named after Joe E. Cambron, who was the Madison County Bridge Foreman from 1958-1974. The bridge makes for unique photos.
Feel free to explore the historic log cabin, which was acutally built elsewhere in the early 1800s. It was later disassembled and moved here.
For a few minutes, I felt like someone was watching me. Then I noticed then. Ha!
We got in our car and we’re headed out when we spotted this guy.
