We enjoyed another annual ski trip with the Scouts again this year. Last year I stayed back to deal with moving and organizing stuff after having the carpet installed. This year, I went so that Caitlyn wouldn’t have to pay for a room by herself. As usual we caravanned up there Friday night arriving around 1 am.
The next morning the scouts got up and gallivanted through Downtown Gatlinburg, while Caitlyn and I decided to explore Gatlinburg on our own. We walked around and shopped and then ate an early lunch at Bennett’s Pit BBQ, which is my favorite place to eat in Gatlinburg.
After filling our bellies we walked back to the hotel and rested until it was time for her to meet the guys and go up the mountain for snow tubing. I stayed back and hung out at the hotel and watched Netflix and went walked around Gatlinburg.
That evening when everyone got back from tubing, we headed downtown for dinner. This year Blaine’s was unwilling to work with us on our large party of 30+, so we went to Johnny Rockets instead. It actually worked out quite nicely.
While we waited for our food, Drew put a $1 in the machine to try his luck at getting Caitlyn a Valentine bear. He got one on the 2nd try.
Sunday the guys and all those that were skiing got up and headed up the mountain. I stayed back and took my time. After watching some Netflix and chatting with some other moms at breakfast, I went up the mountain. I got some pics and watched them ski for a few hours, before heading back down.
We stayed at a different hotel this year, the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites on the River. We really liked this hotel better than the Days Inn, where we’ve stayed the last 3 years.
This was our view from right behind the hotel.
It was really sad to see the damage from the fires that happened last November. Really without driving to many of the bad areas, we didn’t see much in the downtown area.
I saw this damage from the aerial tram.
Here’s a pic of all the scouts and leaders.
Here’s more pics from the trip.
