I just can’t seem to get in a groove of blogging. Well…if I think about it, I really can’t get into a groove of anything! If that makes any sense! Anyway, today I’m gearing up for NINE 10 and 11 year old boys to come over and celebrate with Drew. We did it last year and it wasn’t too bad except for the noise of the air hockey table at 4 am! 🙂 I had planned on a full update, but time is ticking and he will be home with one party goer that is walking home with him….lateh!

Today Drew is ELEVEN. I had to type that out to help it sink in. I just can’t believe it’s been that long. With this age comes a lot of change. He’ll transition into middle school in August for 6th grade. He’ll move up to boy scouts in May. In fact, he’s not able to have his birthday party tonight because he’s at a camping trip with the boy scout troop he plans to join. So we’ll have a house full of boys next Friday night. Thinking back to this last year in the life of Drew, he’s really made…

Well I had written Drew’s birthday entry a couple days ago and you’ll see it in a few hours, but since I’m up and I was reading about Harper and Brayden and I couldn’t help but think back to this time 11 years ago. Wow! I get tears in my eyes thinking about it. No not because of the thoughts of the pain, but just thinking about how awesome it all was. After he was born, I remember the feelings that I had. From the day I visited my gynecology specialist who is a professional and has completed obgyn board…

Yesterday a good part of the day was spent doing web work on my business site with Rob while watching Animal Planet. I think it was a Dogs 101 marathon. One of the shows that was on was about presidential dogs, which I found to be very interesting. It was probably inspired by the fact that the Obama girls are getting a puppy soon. The show talked about what type of dog would be suitable for them. One of the commentators on the show was from the Presidential Pet Museum, which totally intrigued me and I SO wanna go. Staff…

Last Sunday we attended the contemporary service at church, my favorite! We also visited a Sunday school class, Footsteps. We had started visiting classes last year, but never got to finish trying some others out. I’ll admit it’s been awhile since we’ve been to church and it seems that when we go awhile without going, when we go back it’s like the messages that are taught are handpicked just for us. Both the sermon and the lesson in Sunday School just really hit home with both Rob and me. The sermon was really just about taking one day at a…

I have a personal prayer request. I’m not one to ask for help normally, but when times are tough and you feel you have no where else to turn God is the answer. I need you to ask God to help Rob and me with our financial future. We continually hear about the devastation of the nation’s economy and then, even more about our state’s education budget and how it continues to go down the drain and that it’s not going to get any better. It all just leaves me with even more questions and a true feeling of hopelessness.…

It seems that nearly every blog I read today shows people having fun in the snow. Well, either that or they’re sick of it! The thought of snow here…well in 70 degree weather, I don’t see it happening anytime soon. And if it does it surely won’t stick because the ground is so warm. Last year the weekend of Drew’s birthday, it snowed. They got to play in it for a little while, but it melted so quickly that they didn’t get the full enjoyment out of it like we’d like. Oh well…the joys of living in the south! (I…

Every Christmas Eve, I let the boys open one present each. Drew always knows what it is, but never says it out loud until he opens it. It’s always a Christmas-y set of pajamas. This year these pajamas proved to be quite a conundrum for me. I was happy to find Alex’s PJs early in my shopping adventures. I could never find Drew any PJs, so I ended up pullin’ my self out of bed very early on Christmas Eve morning to head out and find some for him. I went back to Target, where they had some cute ones…

After making the Gingerbread house, I had the boys go out in the yard and look for some pine cones. I painted them. Then pulled out some glittery thingys and some glue. The boys decorated them and we placed them on the table wear the food was going to be on Christmas Day. Making fancy pine cones for Christmas Day table decorations. This was before all the food got put on the table. We had 2 tables FULL of food! Good times! Family, food, and lots of fun.

The few days that Drew had off before Christmas we enjoyed some of our traditions that we try to make time for every year. One of which is making a Gingerbread House. Last year, we didn’t get to it. This year I stepped back and tried to let the kids do as much as possible. Enjoy the pictures:

Rob got: Movies Books a new polo shirt and khaki pants some children books that were his when he was growing up a few other things, but they don’t come to mind right now.

So Christmas was good. Lots of family, fun, and food! And just so I can look back and remember, here’s what I got: A fondue set with some chocolate chips so I can use it soon! Nice warm house shoes from Old Navy New robe and PJ’s Some wall hangings, I’ll take pictures soon! A hoodie from Old Navy. Some cute jewelry from the 10 year old. I got one of my pictures printed, matted, and framed, which I’m very proud of. A new camera strap with a cushy, soft neck so it doesn’t irritate my neck and look how…

I have been absolutely lovin’ Subway’s Chicken Pizza-ola Sandwich lately. However, I haven’t been loving spending $7 a pop, so I decided to see if I could make one at home. It turned out marvelously and what I love is that I spend less money and I can easily alter how it’s made. Servings: 4 Prep Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 15 minutes Ingredients: 2 tbsp Olive oil 4 hoagies split 2 chicken breasts 10-14 pieces of pepperoni pizza sauce 1 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella garlic powder Optional: black olives banana peppers Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350. 2.…

This edition of my Christmas Decor showcases my Auburn decorations. This is an Auburn candy cane, which I keep hanging on the microwave stand year round! I guess I should put it on the Christmas tree, but I just never moved him from his normal spot! This was given to us by a coworker of Rob’s who’s son is into glass working. I love it! My Millenium Auburn Santa that Rob gave me and I absolutely LOVE it! I keep it out year round. Although last year he got put away. 🙁 The first year I was in Auburn, Rob…

I just can’t seem to get into a groove of writing like I’d hoped. We’ve been busy buying for Christmas, planning the menu, etc! Oh the joys of CHRISTMAS! Anyway, I’m going to continue from my Part 1 post about decorations. A few years ago Rob’s parents added to my Clown collection with this adorable stocking holder. Up until last year we didn’t even have a mantel to put him on, so he sat up on the entertainment center with nothing hanging on him. We used to hang our stockings on our bannister seen here. I was so excited last…

So the other day, I talked about pulling out all the Christmas stuff and this year I really had time to reflect as I carefully unwrapped each item. I figured I’d start by talking about the things from my Paternal Grandparents. I’m sure I’ve talked about it before, but for anyone who’s new here, I’ll say it again. My Paternal Grandparents raised me. They were granted custody of me when I was about 3 or so. My weekends were split between home, mom, and dad. But…that’s a whole ‘nother blog or two. We’ll just leave it at the understatement that…

Last night I had a photo job at Lambda Chi during their Christmas party. Yes, compute that in your head…me…at a frat party! I will have to say it was GREAT! I had a blast. Yah, getting paid to take pictures is fun, but listening to the music (which rocked by the way), watching them dance and get a little crazy just made the night even greater. It totally brought back memories and it just made me smile. The attire for the night was crazy Christmas stuff, from Santa suits, to Rudolph, to red and green PJ’s and elf hats.…
