Chocolate Chip Cookies

This recipe calls for you to make these ahead of time to allow the dough to harden. This makes it so much easier to ball them out for perfectly shaped cookie.

12 Days of Christmas {Treats}::A Camera & A Cookbook

Lysha @ a Camera & a Cookbook shares 12 delightful Christmas treat recipes for this holiday season.  Today she is sharing Chocolate Chip Cookies - A must try recipe!

Servings: 24
Prep Time: 10 minutes + 12+ hours chill time
Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tbs. vanilla extract
12 oz. bittersweet chocolate chips
Sea salt for sprinkling

Directions:
1. Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.
2. In a different bowl, cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla.
3. Slowly pour in dry ingredients and continue to mix until all dry ingredients are incorporated.
4. Pour in chocolate chips and stir until they are evenly mixed.
5. Press a piece of wax paper down over the dough. Then, press down a piece of plastic wrap making sure to remove air while doing so. Refrigerate overnight and up to 72 hours.
6. When you are ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350°. Put a piece of wax paper on your cookie sheet. Make ping pong size balls of dough, set them 1 1/2 inches a part and then squish them down with the palm of your hand.
7. Cook for 15 minutes and then allow them to cool on a rack.

    Chocolate chip cookies are our absolute favorite. I have the recipe memorized. 🙂 You use more brown sugar and less white sugar than I do…I’ll have to try your combo next time!

    CCC are my fave!!! I had some leftover dough from a thanksgiving cookie bar I made to bring to a friend’s. So I made it up yesterday to share with the kiddo while we watched a Christmas movie. Dad gets home and eats ALL but one. I went back out in the kitchen like…where’d my cookies go?! ridic

    What do you think chilling them for so long does? I’ve read so many recipes lately that call for chilled dough. Does it make a better cookie?

      You really don’t have to chill them that long, but it really helps firm them up like cookie dough you buy ready made. Makes it so much easier to scoop out and on to the cookie sheet.
