I can’t believe tomorrow is SEPTEMBER!! Can you? Summer always flies by, so I’m not sure why I’m always surprised. In this best of summer post, I’m sharing the highlights of the last 3 months. As I gathered up pictures, I realized this summer has been so busy. We’ve covered a lot of ground among the 4 of us. So here goes…
June
I started the summer by finding a penpal. You can read about that here.
Our friend Julia invited us to the lake for some food and relaxation and the celebration of her birthday. Always such fun with we get together.
We were sad to get the news that Rob’s best friend from high school passed away suddenly. Rob did a beautiful job speaking at the funeral and he was also asked to be a pallbearer.
I enjoyed a week of being a bachelorette, while Rob and Drew and Alex all attended Boy Scout Summer Camp.
At most summer camps, Wednesday night is family night at this is the night when Call Outs for Order of the Arrow (Boy Scout Honor Society) occur. Scouts are voted in by their fellow scouts as worthy be a part of this prestigious group. I went up for Family Night and was excited to see the Alex was called out that night.
While the guys were gone I enjoyed a week of peace and quiet. One afternoon after work, I headed to on of my favorite stores, Tuesday Morning. When I was headed to my car these crazy clouds were lurking overhead. Needless to say I got drenched!
Drew was back all of about 2 hours before jumping in the car with Caitlyn and her family and heading to Disney for the week.
For Father’s Day, we went up to Atlanta to see the new Braves Stadium and watch the Braves play.
July
Rob cousins Sara eloped to NYC earlier this year. Sara and her new hubby, Philip threw a nice party for everyone to celebrate their new marriage in Baton Rouge, so we headed to Louisiana for that the first weekend of July.
Before the party, we cooked Jambalaya out at Uncle Rick’s house. Caitlyn got her first try at cooking over an open fire. She did great and the Jambalaya was awesome.
We loaded up on fresh shrimp and crawfish before leaving Louisiana. We also got some delicious Boudin balls.
After leaving Louisiana we headed to Gulf Shores for the 4th of July. You can read more about that here.
Scouts held their Annual Chill at the Lake. We enjoyed chilling at the lake with our scout friends.
Alex went on an adventure of a lifetime enjoying nearly 2 weeks in West Virginia at National Jamboree. This is a huge Boy Scouting event that happens every 2 years, where 30,000+ scouts attend.
Rob and I were invited to a wedding in Huntsville, AL. Great food, fun site-seeing, and a beautiful wedding! What more could you want out of a weekend?
Drew went with Caitlyn and her family to the beach for the weekend. It looks like they had lots of fun in the sun.
August
August was back to school time. Alex started 8th grade at AJHS.
Drew started band camp for the Auburn University Marching Band
Although, I don’t have a picture for it Rob’s sister, Maria, and family moved into town.
The addition to my building at work was completed over the summer and opened for the first day of classes on August 21st.
We enjoyed time in the North Georgia Mountains the weekend before the eclipse. That Monday, we were in the perfect location for 100% totality.
Since my sis-in-law and family livee in Auburn now we got to attend the Cub Scout Pack 29 Survivor, which was an event that we came up with to promote our pack as a back to school event back when we were in the Pack. It was fun being back with the little guys and seeing this tradition live on with my nephew as part of the fun.
And this is what Daisy did all summer…
I hope your summer was blessed as well! Hoping you have a wonderful Fall.
I visit your blog regularly to get new things like this. Thank you
